Yikes. Here's another card with some really interesting 'build around me' potential. Being able to build up other creatures makes the last ability that much better, and worst comes to worse it still triggers off itself. This coming own turn 3 off of a Mystic or Caryatid ought to really scary.
Sort of underwhelming in the grand scheme of things. His +1/+1 counters clause is kind of underwhelming, but on a 4/2 haste stick, it's not awful. His ferocious ability is out of place, as this guy is very outclassed by stormbreath and sarkahn. I'm not sure a midrange deck wants a 4/2 that gets stonewalled by anything on the ground.
This card is best in aggro, but even then, far from optimal for the four drop.
sarkhan and stormbreath are both 5 drops and this is a 4-drop, and only butcher is competing with its powerlevel, i really think this will see some play
I would replace this over Ashcloud Phoenix. At least he is not mana intensive to cast. Heir of the Wilds and other trample dudes will benefit the +1/+1 counter the most.

That phoenix has been over performing for me. I'm still quite surprised at how good it is.
There aren't really many trample dudes. Fanatic of Xenagos and?
Polis crusher would be nice, but hey, it's yet another good 4 drop...
turn 1 forest - elvish mystic
turn 2 mountain - rabblemaster
turn 3 any land - this guy
best case they have gone tap land - tap land (not uncommon for abzan or sultai whip)
turn 3 you have - 2 * 2/2 goblins + a 3/3 rabblemaster and a 5/3 and you have done 11 damage temur might now have a chance to race whips just because of this
What only bothers me, is that it has only 2 Toughness for 4 Mana.
The Vampire ability is also not that tempting.
Haste & that Lategame-ability is Brutal !
I cant wait to see my Abzan Mythic RAre of that Cycle ^^
Really? Do you mean they didn't get it was a mechanic, or they didn't understand it?
They didn't understand it was a mechanic. R&D members were constantly getting pestered with questions that basically amounted to "Why didn't Naya get a mechanic in Alara?".
Naya had proto Ferocious for power 5; see Exuberant Firestoker, Drumhunter, and Sunseed Nurturer. Since Naya worshipped behemoths and gargantuans, I'd say Gargantuan would be a pretty good name for the mechanic.

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
Maybe I'm reading this guy wrong, but he seems to be a 4 drop with the ability (at least in a Green or Blue deck)
"4: Draw at least one card"
I'm a casual player, but that seems crazy strong by itself, forget the haste and +1/+1 ability. Am I reading this wrong, or are people forgetting that, late game, this isn't requiring a tap and you can refill you hand for 8 mana if you have at least two large bodies out. This seems absurdly strong.

"Proving god exists isn't hard. Proving god is God is the tricky part" - Roommate
He is essentially an Azure Mage that trades 2 additional mana for 2 more power, Haste, the ability to grow bigger, and the ability to draw even more cards. Azure Mage is good enough to see play in some control decks just for the consistent instant speed CA, and this guy is that bolted to a relevant body and the ability to scale up with your board presence. Dude is great in Standard, and may very well be good enough to see play in Modern Shamans.
Really? Do you mean they didn't get it was a mechanic, or they didn't understand it?

So they used a "keyword" this time to avoid that.
Yeah... but Esper didn't really have a keyword either. It's mechanic was colored artifacts.
I don't know, it just seems weird, especially because the initial rules for ferocious was that it didn't care about how many creatures with 4 power you had... except when it does, now.

Yeah of the three Mechanics that continued into this set Ferocious is the one that actually expanded it's mechanic. I wonder if how that works flavourwise it's because the Temur needed to work together to take down dragons, but once they were extinct all they really needed was one big guy to do the heavy lifting.
As a 4/2 haste for 4, this card is strong. With the additional ability to have all creatures who damage your opponent to get +1/+1 counters (including himself), this card is very strong. With the ability to draw cards, this card is ridiculous (for standard at least). At the very least, he gives Temur decks another 4 mana hasted creature to go along with Savage Knuckleblade. Savage Knuckleblade is already one of the stronger cards in the deck, but it is mana intensive. He gives you something to do with your mana if you hold it open to protect your Knuckleblade. In addition, his ability to grow creatures works well with mana dorks like Elvish Mystic and Rattleclaw Shaman, and other cards like Heir of the Wilds, Ashcloud Phoenix, Goblin Rabblemaster, Sagu Mauler, Surrak Dragonclaw, etc. He plays very well in a tempo shell as a threat to play after you counter your opponent's threat with Temur Charm.

But I agree that Naya should have a keyword. All the Shards/wedges should have at least one.
