I am pretty excited for spoilers to start on Monday. It seems like they have the timing fixed on their website for spoilers and articles to hit at midnight. Can anyone confirm this fix?
I am sad they didn't give Ugin more of a colorless theme. I think his -X is awesome, but it should have been his ultimate and his middle ability should have been to turn target nontoken permanent face up or face down. Don't get me wrong, his ultimate is powerful enough, but I don't think the flavor of it is that strong aside from it referencing his arch-nemesis that killed him.
We know nothing about Ugin as a character except that he's fairly arrogant, is an enemy of Nicol Bolas, and doesn't want to see the multiverse destroyed. A flavor win is hard until we learn more about him.

being colorless and having a arogant attitude screams lawful neutral to me. I think since inistrad sorin falls into this category. THey both travel and see the multiverse and protect it. Ugin seems to care less about people just that the universe continues on. Sorin does his best to protect the multiverse despite his nature as a destroyer of life. Sorin is my favorite PLanes walker and the little I know about Ugin has me liking him too. Both could kick Jaces ass. Yeah I said it.
I want to know what is between Blossoming Sands and Dismal Backwater...
Hang on, didn't Forsythe say that they'd be doing something to help colorless EDH decks at the AusPAX panel? What if we get a basic colorless land (called Cave, like the planned Planar Chaos purple land)? It fits name wise.

Forsythe said that "a solution for a colorless basic land has been found," and that "this will allow for a colorless Commander preconstructed deck to be created in the future." I'd actually be surprised if it wasn't called Cave considering all of the reasons that it would be (collector numbers, the planned PCS land, and the fact that Cave is one of the most logical names for a colorless basic land).
I have a feeling UG or BUG control decks will spring up with an Ugin or 2 for multi-use board wipes.
Uggh.
I've been running Sultai Control for months now in Standard. The deck is looking to get even better with this new set offering several board wipe options.
What is it with dragon planeswalkers and the number 7? Do they like to play slots in their spare time or something? It's like Ugin rolls you a jackpot while Nicol Bolas just takes the slot machine and beats someone over the head with it.
lol so hard! I can totally see it. We need an art like these.
If they had access to the art, then they knew what the abilities were going to be. If it had already been fully developed and printed when the fake was spoiled then the abilities would have been the same, why spoil fake abilities on such an anticipated card?
The historial says this image is available since last September and it's part of merchandising made before we even knew what was going to FRF. As in, WAY before the leaks.

As far as I know, they still have articles hitting at 11 the next morning. I've seen nothing to indicate a 'fix' is planned, much less implemented.

Ugin hit for me right at midnight which is the reason i said this. Wasn't sure if it would remain this way or not.

Probably not. They intentionally moved updates to later in the day. Ugin was spoiled when it was because it was a "Christmas Present." Since Wizards gets a 2-week vacation during this time of year, the web team probably had the article set to auto-post on December 25th, server time. Since their servers are on the east coast, it went live at Midnight, east coast time.

Ah, okay. So the spoilers go up at 11am instead, right?
Yeah, more than likely. On Monday, we'll probably get a feature article, arcana, making magic and level one spoilers (the level one is Valorous Stance; it was accidentlaly posted early and then taken down).
In Legacy, what does it do against Emrakul exactly? Counter Top? lol... it's 8 mana in a format where the highest cmc you see besides Jace is 3.
I don't think you play much legacy... Jace is barely played at all. Here's a short list of cards over 3 mana that are played:
Batterskull
Emrakul
Sneak Attack
Helm of Obedience
Wurmcoil
Tezzeret
Terminus
Natural Order
Past in Flames
Tendrils
etc... This card could see play in legacy MUD over Karn for sure, it's so much better.
Yeah, Terminus and Emrakul, are you kidding me? Are these cards casted for their real cost most of the time? Omniscience and Enter the Infinite too I guess?
Or not...
Yeah, Helm is something. I don't think Wurmcoil really sees much play though, it's better in Vintage with Workshop and Lotus to cast it turn 1.
My own rules when building a Commander deck:
1) Underrated general that I can build around but the deck must work without him/her too.
2) Every card must be legal in both banlists.
3) No infinite combo that could win (and ruin) instantly a multiplayer game.
4) Synergy at all costs; stay on theme, avoid goodstuff.
MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
I believe the player who ran the deck used Gemstone Caverns or Chancellor of the Tangle to provide an extra mana on his first turn. Perhaps someone here is familiar with Vintage Elf Ramp decks and would know how to play a turn 1 Emrakul?

People seems to ignore that there are a lot of mana boosters and controls in Standard. This guy could come as early as turn 4 or 5 if you have the proper ramp AND the proper control to keep that ramp going. I mean, you have from ramp auras for lands to lots of early instants to stop attacks. Uginwill see play in standard, I'm sure.

Villainous wealth for the win

Because the art was out even BEFORE the fake card. It's the same art the Salvation Wiki has of Ugin since the time of the KTK PR. Just look at this image: http://mtgsalvation.gamepedia.com/File:Ugin.jpg?version=533ee9c646e1aa2cc530e4c2fc067f7c

I don't play much standard, but note that among the things this hits is lands animated by Nissa, Worldwaker (which Perilous Vault doesn't do).
In Limited, I'm certainly taking it and can hopefully get a good Abzan or Sultai shell to ensure I live long enough to cast it.

Alright, it still an awesome card, and probably still finds a home, but it doesn't quite hose current decks as badly as I thought.

Doesn't hit nissa lands. They are colourless.
