Turn he comes out he is at 9 counters and has one less creature to deal with. This is pretty cool. And a seriously hardcore boardwipe. An exile version of All is Dust that can be done for 7 or less as soon as he comes out, for only 8 mana. Thats really strong. I don't play standard but this is def EDH staple. 14 counters and ultimate as soon as he hits the field with doubling season out.

Oddly close, but the "fake" was much worse. This one is gravy, and quite employable in many types of cubes.
I'm wondering about the templating of the second ability -- wouldn't it just be way simpler to say, "Exile each colored permanent with converted mana cost X or less"?

Yup, just found the older thread. This one is indeed much much better.
I really like that they're keeping the land cycle as it both helps keep 5 color viable in limited and it reinforces the time travel theme by implying that these are the same locations/world.

I could easily see this being played in standard if the pacing remains the same. People are hard casting Hornet Queen, so 8 mana isn't beyond the realm of possibility. The + ability is definitely a bit underwhelming but it only takes two activations to get him into ultimate range. The - ability is also obviously quite potent, very Perilous Vault esque. Sure it's going to be much slower but it's actually less of a mana investment and is harder to play around. It seems like control could easily run this. At least, I feel like this *****s on Garruk, Apex Predator.
