The mechanic is pretty forgettable, but at least it seems like they're actually trying. The card seems like it wants trample instead of reach, although the latter might come in handy once all those pesky dragons cme back.
I actually like this mechanic quite a bit. Usually when playing cards like Armament Corps I want to put the counters on my smallest creature anyway to have multiple threats and be less vulnerable to removal. I can see a counter lord with bolster 1, or a 2cmc 1/1 with bolster 2 being playable in constructed.
The only problem I have is that it costs 7. Bleh. 7 drops were not where i wanted to be in Khans unless it was Duneblast. Everything else expensive can be had with a morph or delve. If this guy was a morph I would be all in. He's no Wolfir Silverheart.
But on a side not getting more feat of resistance style cards would be sweet. I expect there to be non creature cards with Bolster, plus equipment in the set, so hold on crappy lifelink black creatures.
Obviously this isn't the card that isn't going to break standard, but you could easily put this on 3/4cc creature that says bolster 1, bolster 1 again and break every outlast card out there.
From the way it's worded, it looks like Bolster isn't always an enter-the-battlefield effect (or else it would just say "Bolster 5" and have "when ~ enters the battlefield" be a part of the ability description). Means it could be an activated ability, a triggered ability, a leaves-the-battlefield ability, be an effect on instants or sorceries...there's some fun potential versatility there. I'm liking it. It's also pretty flavorful, strengthening the weakest link to strengthen the clan as a whole.
7 mana is a bit pricey to see play, but it is still 10 power for that 7 mana, so who knows. It's no Wolfir Silverheart, but the block/standard isn't on the same power level as it was when the Silverheart was released.
Also yay, elephants. Nice to see the living mastodons that Rotting Mastodon implied we'd be getting in the past.
I'd say that the power-level is close. Siege Rhino is about as good as Thragtusk, Sarkhan is better than Thundermaw, Thoughtseize is better than Duress, and outside of Control decks Dig Through Time is better than Sphinx's Revelation.
So does this mean all colors are getting this very Abzan-y mechanic,
or are we getting five *new* clan mechanics?
The first seems silly and the second excessive-
maybe some clans get new mechanics and some keep the previous ones
(ie- a mix of mechanics from KTK and DTK)?
I am guessing that we might see a mix this time and then switch to the new mechanics completely in Dragons of Tarkir.
So this is the new "Abzan" mechanic (Sandsteppe gives it away if the actual mechanic didn't). It is very similar to how outlast works... I wonder if the other mechanics will be just as similar to their KTK counterparts.
Speaking for Sultai, could use some more delve creatures (as opposed to spells).
Also, I wonder if these "new" mechanics are the devolved version of the current ones in KTK. Bolster is the less organized version of outlast.
Temur deck with This + Sage of Hours or Slumbering Dragon? Sounds kinda weird and delicate and not really that powerful for the involvement of 7 drops if the opponent is on the ball, but sooo awesome! Please let there be a Slumbering Dragon reprint in the block! My inner noob wants to do this at least once!
Seems like a really good mechanic to me. The fact that its reminder text doesn't include the ETB trigger means there could be some versatility to where this mechanic appears. Also, it doesn't seem like it targets, which makes it good with Shroud. My first thought was admittedly Sage of Hours. Get a free turn when you cast your mastodon!
Honestly I like Bolster quite a bit. This card, no it's not all too playable. But on cheaper guys? It looks like it could be ridiculous. It also makes me excited that I could dust off those High Sentinels of Arashin again and make a deck with those.
Bolster seems like a boring but deceptively strong mechanic. It also bolsters the Abzan counters theme (Outlast). Although it's totally a creature-based mechanic (AGAIN), I can live with it. Maybe I'm just getting used to Wizards making more boring mechanics lately, but pushing damage or turning opponents' guys into chump blockers is something I like to do.
The card itself is not standard playable at SEVEN mana, ramp or not.
I feel like bolster is actually rather good. This card in particular seems like an awesome bomb in limited! As for the clan mechanics, if indeed they are going to do a 2/3 split between mechanics blocks (which i feel is likely), then I really hope they keep delve and prowess as they were the mechanics I liked most from KTK.

Storm Crow is strictly worse than Seacoast Drake.
