How much of a necessity will Aven Mindcensor be going forward now that Pod is banned?
Since Fetchlands are anywhere and there are other cards that let people shuffle their deck, he is always a useful and powerful tool. Just to make an example, he's still an all-star in Hatebears.
Obviously, it's needless too say that Birthing Pod's ban has nothing to do with his presence in the set, because MM2015 was designed and developped long before this decision... and quite frankly I don't see a reason not to reprint him, too. He's a simple 2/1 Flash flyer for 3 in Limited, just like Pestermite, and Limited balance was the reason to avoid some reprints last time...
Also, Scapeshift is still a thing, so it's a reasonable sideboard card. It won't drop below $10 without a reprint.
I actually feel like Aven Mindcensor has a better chance of getting its reprint in Dragons of Tarkir, given that Avens are a known tribe, and the fetchlands plus a few additional cards allowing for search and shuffle effects.

I hope you are right. I've been crossing my fingers for him in Khans since the first set. We are already at 2/3 strikes.
The first Modern Masters had a strong focus on rebels and rogues, creatures that previously had not been given much focus, so on what creature types (if any) may this set focus? I myself would like to see a focus on giants, treefolk, or gargoyles, but there may not be enough of those creatures in the game for there to be a large amount of them in this set.

Ummm... what? Every time Rebels have been around, they've been given a great deal of focus and support.

Wizards don't like letting you mess with people's manabases in Standard (it's too "unfun"), and that's effectively what Aven Mindcensor does in combination with the fetchlands. In Modern that's fine, but not in newbie-friendly Standard.
Therefore, whilst I don't think Mindcensor is out of the question as a Standard reprint at some point, I don't think it'll be whilst the fetchlands are legal.
This.
In a format with fetchlands, Mindcensor could be an instant speed Stone Rain. Also it's a 2/1. Also it flies. There's a reason it's a $10 uncommon, it's stupidly good in fetchland formats.
Outside of that I think there's obviously an artifact theme again, landfall will probably show up, and an Eldrazi or 2 might pop in. I would guess that most archetypes will also get common/uncommon/rare reprints for their decks as well, even if it's only a card or two.
if they make Bird tribal the WU theme this time around
My quick Gatherer search may have missed something but I don't think there's any Bird tribal that's Modern legal. Plenty of birds but no tribal themes.
What do people reckon about the chances of Eldrazi Monument making an appearance?
It's certainly not a Modern staple by any stretch of the imagination, but it's going to fit the reappearance of the Eldrazi, and is one of those cards currently needlessly above $10 a copy due to casual demand. Surely a couple of cards like this fit into MM2 somewhere?
My predictions would be Ensnaring Bridge, Crucible of Worlds, Mycosynth Lattice.
Why? Bridge is 20$ per copy, Crucible is $30 per copy, and Lattice is $18 per copy. All of which have homes in eternal formats.
I predict that there are going to be many more rarity upgrades this time around. They seem to be going balls to the wall with the cash grab and, frankly, people are going to buy a ***** ton of it regardless.

Is this meant to be a joke? (Can't tell if sarcastic) The flavor seems so off.
They borrowed heavily from Time Spiral last time, which was the best limited set in the blocks considered for the first MM.
I would guess that this time around they'll draw heavily on Rise of the Eldrazi and original Rav block. Rav block limited was not used much outside of G/B dredge, and obviously ROE wasn't included at all. I think we'll see g/b infect, w/r metalcraft, r/g eldrazi spawn ramp, u/w levellers, and u/r spells with Kiln Fiend/ Dragonauts as limited themes. Could certainly see U/G graft as well. Not sure what the others will be. Someone will probably get allies though. Maybe W/B?
To follow my comment about glorious anthem, earlier in this thread: since spear of Heliod is completely superior to it, is it possible that, if the anthem were to be reprinted, either in this set or perhaps in the final core set, it may be downgraded in rarity to an uncommon? Or is the card too powerful for such a low rarity?
They don't usually drop the rarities of cards.
Actually, rarity drops are just about as commonplace as rarity jumps. For example, all of these rares were downshifted to uncommons in the first Modern Masters:
That said, anthem effects are VERY rarely not rare; they're similar to wrath effects in this manner. I wouldn't expect Glorious Anthem to become uncommon for this reason.

They have been printing more as of late including Intangible Virtue and that cycle of uncommon color pumps in M15.

Really? MMA contained only 3 sets with mythics in them (Shards block) while MMA2 will contain 11 (three blocks plus M10 and M11.) I feel like they'll have enough trouble fitting only 15 mythics in the set, even without bumping rares to mythics. Rarity downgrades seem much more likely to me (and that could explain why MMA2 is more expensive than MMA.)

That's true; I didn't consider how many more mythics they have available to them this time around. I suppose my natural instinct with any business, even one I patronize frequently, is that they will take any opportunity to screw you over, as long as the increased revenue defrays the cost of displeased customers.

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.

They have been? I am sorry, but I am only a casual player of this game, not a hardcore one, so I would not have noticed that.

and many more but those are the ones that come right to my mind as I'm writing this. I think that these are some of the cards that either pose a barrier to really play whatever deck you want OR their current price does not reflect their power level in the format.
