Well, as most of us I am sure felt with a preorder I was nervous as hell when I got my box. Fortunately I actually hit at least a 2nd tier jackpot (which might just be the first time ever for me buying a box).
I feel for the other like 80% of people who were hoping for something such as this. I actually thought about a second box for about 1 minute and then thought "what am I thinking, take the winnings and run."
What's the likelihood of seeing a modern event deck this year that has a decent part of a Tier1/2 deck?
I would like to see another one, as long as it is better than the last one, but I don't know how well it did. I can still find them easily for less than MSRP so it is all up to customer demand I suppose.
I wouldn't mind Affinity or Burn.
IMO its the best way to actually get new people into modern. Give them a third of the deck for a competitive price and some good trade cards and they're off. As long as the deck they're getting is actually a decent one.
And the whole design process for a modern event deck is not constrained by limited play considerations, they can throw in anything in there irrespective of standard/drafting etc.
Of course that's the "honest" solution that presumes you have the player's best interest at heart, which is sadly not usually the case. I'd also like it to be affinity, although merfolk wouldn't be bad either. It has to be a deck that can sell for a decent MSRP so expensive combo decks a la GR Tron are probably out of the question because they won't work out of the box without all the pieces.
I did forget to add Merfolk to the choices I would enjoy. I would love them to continue with the Modern event decks, I just think the last one could really have used something like the Shocklands instead of Painlands and something else here or there. It was a pretty good product though, even if a lot of folks thought it was awful.
Got back from GP Vegas and wow, this set is AWESOME to draft and sealed! No sarcasm, this is genuinely really really fun. That said, the financial value is GARBAGE. Between the main event, several side events, and prizes, all I pulled of value was Karn, Splinter Twin, Spellskite and...... not much else that I can remember. At least nothing else more than $2-5. I wish the set would just take out the huge money rares and fill it with cheaper value rares so it could be drafted at $15-20 and not $30-40.

Yeah, they got as low as about $45 on ebay for a bit, but have been working their way back up since. Seem to sell pretty consistently for about $60 on ebay now. Which, given an msrp of $75, and a card value in the deck that basically equals the msrp, its not too bad.
As for the chances of getting a higher value deck next time? I sort of have my doubts there, but you never know.
Its a good product if you want to make BW tokens deck but nothing beyond that. Its still $50 at my LGS and no one wants to touch it.
Just did a quick check on ebay. Looks like a lot more cases are being listed (4 boxes) of modern masters 2015, as well as more boxes, and the price pressure seems to be continuing a downward box price trend. Now individual boxes can be gotten for as low as $210, and cases as low as $840 ($210/box). I honestly doubt we will see the boxes go below $200 online (Ebay or otherwise), but its clear a variety of shops and individuals are working to offload their boxes quickly and willing to take less to do so. (Which given the average box value is down to $198 as per a previous post of mine showing the data could explain some of it.)

For what it was made to do oh yeah it was great. I would have liked a few other cards, but you certainly are right. I bought two of them when they came out, one is sealed still, and I enjoy that I always have some extra copies of cards that could be used in many different decks.
Is anyone else disappointed with the foils in this set? I've only seen a couple, but they all look dull and kind of flat and metallic compared to regular pack foils. Are all supplementary set foils like this? My clash pack Prophet of Kruphix looks like that too.

Stay reasonable, be mindful of your expectations and don't feed the trolls.
They're shinyer than regular ones and quicker to identify as foils, but at the same time they have less vibrant rainbowing and the details don't pop. Unless I have them under strong direct light, they just look like they're printed on a metallic sheet. But the again, foils vary from card to card and I've only seen a couple, but it's enough to keep me from ordering a foil Iona like I had planned unless I get to see one first.

It is indeed the same as what's found in Clash Packs, Duel Decks, and Avacyn Restored (for some reason),
but not the same as MM1 (which used "normal" card stock).
I agree with the above posters who like it, but disliking it seems more common.

Now that you mentioned it, I do remember Avacyn Restored foils being of the "metallic" kind.
Actually I do prefer this kind of foiling. Yes, it's a bit more dull, but you can still tell it's a foil without the card entirely glaring back at you, which happens on some cards with "regular foiling". I'm not particularly sure whether it's me (I haven't checked any of the Avacyn Restored ones), but does the "Metallic Foiling" also make the card "bend" less than the "regular" foils?
Prices on boxes/cases are plummeting, and the boxes are going unsold. Very interesting to see boxes just sitting at $204 on ebay without selling like hotcakes. I've heard from several sources that distributors are no longer able to order more from Wizards and that the stock is exhausted and what is out there is all that is left. Whether that's true or not, there is seemingly a LOT still out there and people are slashing prices out of panic and still no takers.
I think the sweet spot is $185 to $190. If you can get boxes at that price then gobble them up. There's no doubt in my mind that the price will jump back up once the availability really is low, but for now that is definitely not the case! Anyway, it is interesting to see this all unfold.
Is there much of a precedent for limited edition foreign boxes of something like Modern Masters 2015?
I ask because I have a sealed Japanese box and I'm not sure what will happen to the price of it or cards from the set. With English boxes dropping in price, does anyone know if foreign will do the same?
I purchased the box for less than what they are going for on eBay, so I could resell and make money, but I'm not sure if I should wait a few years or have some fun and open it and then sit on whatever I get.

There do seem to be a large amount of boxes for sale with little to no buyers. Boxes at $204 are actually not even being sold. While there are still higher dollar amount purchases. They are pushing under $200. I'm not so sure about the $185 price. After a $40 drop in price from $240 msrp with few buyers. Not many people are buying at $200. Would another $15 less be all that enticing? I think it's going to have to drop really close to the card shop purchase price to sell well. I think that's about $140. I wonder how close to that price point it can get. I think $170, but unless you are drafting it then it's still not worth buying just to open packs. It's fun to open packs but ugh...I couldn't deal with getting a comet storm. I would buy in at $150 for a sealed box. That's about the msrp of a regular booster box with 36 packs. This set really needed to have 36 packs. I just don't get why wizards didn't fix that. We can read, there are many informed people around us at card shops, and on the internet. No one is going to think that this product is standard legal. At least that is the reason they gave us last time they made this a 24 pack box. There are a huge amount of these MM 2015 boxes available. Ask for a lower price, you won't be as sad when you only open about $100 worth of cards. I wonder how many failure stories to success stories there are with these boxes. 3 fail to 1 win?
Something to keep in mind is that the prices of the 20 or so cards which are actually worth anything in this set is also falling, leading to a falling expected box value. $200 may be a good buy at release, but it's not that great now.

Preorder at $250 per box, claimed 14 boxes in stock
Currently at $210 per box, shows 20+ boxes in stock
I would expect cost be between $144 to $120 per box, so that would be the absolute floor price unless the retailer is going to sell them at a loss. If the set ends up like a "normal" box and the associated mark down, I would guess the floor will be about $156 per box.
I may consider getting a box if it drops to around $160 per.

People in America really like the Japanese versions of cards. I personally don't because I want something I can read. If your intent is to sell them, probably pack them away in a closet for a year and then remember about them after that.

Agreed. Japanese cards tend to be worth more than any other language,
and with this set, they have the advantage of being in the "normal" packaging,
and don't seem to have the same weird distribution errors the English version has.
A sealed Japanese box will almost certainly be worth a lot more in one or two years.

the card itself really isn't worth the card board its printed on...does it serve a purpose? Sure its a blue 1 drop that might not be a 1/1. I would not put it in a list and expect to win a PTQ or GP though.
Thanks for the advice on the Japanese box. I SO want to open it, but I know it's not wise. If I do open it, I'm going to sit on the cards as prices are low right now.

Eh, I think there are too many high priced cards that WILL bounce back for it to drop too much lower. I think $160 is a pipe dream for this. It depends also on how truly "limited" the print run was. As for right now, the market seems to be saturated and no one is eagerly snatching up boxes at $200 per, but I believe there are enough speculators out there that if it drops to $175 to $180 they will be snatched up. I can speak for myself as well that I would buy up every box available at $180 since I believe that is a fantastic deal. $190 is just on the cusp but I'm hoping it can drop lower so we can enjoy the product at a more reasonable price point.
It actually seems like they've already bottomed and are starting to rise again.
Been keeping an eye on Clique, and it's already bounced back on eBay and stabilizing at 50+. Was as low as $40-45, but looks to be already going back up. Haven't been watching others, but trends seem to be holding and not dropping. The MM GP didn't seem to do as much as those looking to sell cards walked to vendors to sell for cash instead of listing them on the open market (tcgplayer, ebay, etc). Combine that with boxes not moving or being opened, looks like the window to jump on low prices is (or has already) been closing.
We did just have 3 GP's fire off, gobbling up product, right? Can anyone explain to me how Tarmogoyf's release price ($174.99) has not moved one iota despite an estimated 200+ playsets coming in? I mean, all these guys on the threads that have been talking supply and demand, please, explain to me how the price can remain unaffected a week after this many new goyfs dropped.
