The thing about a colorless basic land is that you need some reason for decks to want it. Commander banning all other basics isn't a good enough reason. Working with Domain was a good reason to play it, but was a rules headache. It will have some upside to make it worth running over a Plains.
Oh my gosh I would freaggin love for Tamiyo to come back. <3 <3 <3

Unless you're playing her trade in Elsbeth now price is gonna drop, that's 7 months of standard that you can get her for at a decent price if you need more

I'm under the impression that it's specifically for Commander, given the number of effects that can effectively shut them out of the game because they can't run any basics. Both C13 and C14 have sorceries that blow up all non-basics and allow you to search out basics in their place. A lot of decks will usually end up at worst with only a few less lands, if any; while a full colorless deck that relies 100% on nonbasics is completely SOL.
You're talking about a basic land, I can't see it actually having any sort of effect beyond tapping for colorless, and the fact that it's taken this long just to "find a way to do them" means they likely aren't making it Barry's Land. There likely wont be an upside, and the only reason you'd run it over a Plains is because you're building a colorless commander deck. Other decks likely won't want it outside of a few potential niche interactions, that I honestly can't think of ATM.
I'm curious to see how they will work that out. It would also be interesting to see what type of mana symbol they design for a colorless basic. (Other than a giant 1 obv.)

I'm more interested in what medium the colorless mana will be. Blind Eternities? A Scrap yard? Artificial Plane?
So would these colorless basic lands just have "Basic Land" on the type line with no subtype? Otherwise Coalition Victory, Domain effects, etc are changed.

The "must pay with colorless" mana symbol from the GDS2 posted here is an interesting way to make this land worth playing.
Also, boosting Domain is a nice gimmick for the land for those who were around Invasion or Conflux. If Domain returns, then it is a very good reason for this land to be in the set (or at least in the same Standard).
Unless getting a basic land type would still mess with the rules, I see no reason to not giving it one.
Would City work as a colorless BLT? There's a distinct chance they would want to use such a 6th Basic in FRF since colorless is likely to be a theme. Desert would work too, though that would bias towards Abzan plus the most generic Desert has been taken.

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
Not that I know of. I'd like to watch it too. I just checked on the PAX twitch channel and the MTG panel is not even in the schedule. Google didn't help either. Maybe they'll put it on youtube later during the week, as they did with SDCC? I'm just guessing (and hoping).
Aaron said it was being videotaped, but would be posted at a later date.

I did a little number crunching. Judging from the collectors' numbers of Crux and Yamova, there will be 30 cards for each color, leaving 15 cards for artifacts and lands.

I feel like city is a little too biased towards white, imo. I sorta feel like that could be true of any land that's a building though, since the idea of built structures is to me rooted in society - but city even more so, because it's an organized group of buildings with various purposes both residential and commercial, designed to better the lives of the community.
It might be like a Ruin or Mine to sorta make it seem more artifact-y without being an artifact land, but in all honesty, it's hard to judge because it's easy to point out why any given land should produce a color, it's a lot harder to answer why a certain land shouldn't produce any color.

That would certainly play into determining the look of the mana symbol. A scrap yard seems too close to artifacts and there are a few known artificial planes already within Magic so that would make it challenging to sell to the player base. Something like the Blind Eternities could probably work for a stand alone box set but would be much harder to gel within a normal Magic expansion. Unless they introduced it in some sort of Asgard type plane in the middle of space.
If the skies weren't claimed for blue and white, I'd probably go with them as colorless. Colorless is formless, it isn't bound to a specific locale for a specific nature...

It looks like there's 185 cards not 165 so there's more space. I'm guessing there's like 15-20 multicolour/hybrid cards either that or they are all colourless but I'd expect a mix.

I relooked. Yep, it says 185, but still it looks like 30 cards per color. If there is colorless spells, I believe they go before White so there can't be more than 5. 35 does give plenty of room for artifacts and lands. Someone on twitter said there was to be no gold, but I'd want to second source that.

But with those Duel Decks arts... Did we just see Arixmethes, the Lost City in the background of the first two?
Also, the last art is gorgeous. It would make an AMAZING Archaeomancer. I love that card and that art on it? Wow.
Possibly, but I doubt he'd be getting a legendary card of his own in a supplementary product not known for printing new cards.
You'll probably have to settle for a reprint with new art meant to represent him in the same way Sleeper Agent depicts Xantcha.

Storm Crow is strictly worse than Seacoast Drake.
