I think people are kinda getting worked up about this whole "OMGZ PLANESWALKERS ARENT FIGHTING WHY THEY FIGHTING YOLO" for nothing. Since Venser vs Koth wizards has been moving away from doing planeswalker vs planeswalker fighting simply cause it limits world building. The story doesn't always need 2 planeswalker fighting.
I can imagine vorthos are a bit miffed about it but I kinda don't care, we get the 2 best planeswalkers from the set.
I, as a vorthos, dislike this kind of things, but not because I find it hard to imagine that there are conflicts that aren't resolved by a magical duel (such as the clash between Koth and Venser), but simply because other combinations would have fit better:
Elspeth vs Xenagos: The main conflict of Theros block.
Ajani vs Kiora: Kiora is doing her thing an this pissed off Ajani.
Ajani vs Ashiok: Ashiok is doing hir thing an this pissed off Ajani.
Kiora vs Ashiok: Ashiok is trying to harvest some good Eldrazi based nightmares to summon.
Ashiok vs Xenagos: A fight that happened before his ascension.
Kiora vs Xenagos: Same thing as the one before.
I'd loved to of seen Ashiok vs Kiora, but I could see the conflict between Kiora and Elspeth, they have very different methods, and some of Kiora's seem a bit iffy at times (and why I love her!!!)
Can anyone make a summarizing post with all the info from various fields? There is much interesting but it is extremely hard to gather it all. Thanks in advance.
I just edited my first post to do so.

Intensity, Integrity, Intelligence, Personified and Penguinified.
Panels are normally posted within about 10 days of occurring. There will also likely be a mention of it in an Arcana feature on the WOTC website. I would begin to look for it around Friday the 7th or shortly thereafter.
really stocked about the duel deck and the previewed art! elspeth looks just gorgeous, Kiora seems to look good as well, have to see the card in person to know for sure.
colorless basic land is the weirdest concept for a long time, I think. curious to see more.
I'm SO SICK of the "too strong for Standard" argument. It's the new "Dies to removal". We can have a two mana 4/4 with a zillion abilities, but we can't just have Accumulated Knowledge. Makes sense.
I must say I love both of these cards a LOT. Yasova shows that wizards is really f***ing clever at finding ways to sneak extra commanders into a product- also HYBRID!?!?!! That's GENIUS as a mechanic to interconnect two very different blocks! (Also Return to Devotion anyone?). I must say though that Crux has totally captured my heart. It's one of those lovely new story-depicting cards (akin to deicide) and it gives u/b a much needed cheap sweeper (though I think Perilous Vault will still see some play as it gets rid of the many planeswalkers in standard). ALSO FATE REFORGED COMING A HALF MONTH EARLY IS PHENOMENAL! I'm seriously excited to see the rest of this block now!!!

A DD set with Elspeth, Sun's Champion, my favourite PW card ever, and Kiora, who is also cool. Now could the art for those two cards PLEASE don't suck? There has been so many DD PW cards with bad art in the last few years that I'm starting do wonder if they're doing it on purpose to make them less desirable than their originals.

Want to see other duel decks I made ? Check out my Blog ! Feel free to post advice or give topics for me to make duel decks out of. Check out the Theros Block Planeswalker Theme Duel Decks Elspeth, Xenagos, Ashok, Kiora, Ajani
Probably good speculation, but I have some problems with them:
1. High Tide would definitely be a desired reprint, but would Wizards really put it in a Duel Deck? I don't know, maybe it's the stigma of being a key card in storm decks, but it just seems too..spiky to me. Also Kiora's deck is /at least/ going to be UG, so being a two color deck makes a card like High Tide much less effective. The art on this card is really strange to me, overall. In the foreground, it looks like several large rock islands are being toppled over, while in the background there seems to be (at first glance) a literal mountain rising up out of the sea. However, this "mountain" seems to have forest growing on the side of it...growing out horizontally, implying that it's yet another massive landmass that was titled on it's side. I really don't know what to make of this picture.
2. Leap seems like the glaringly obvious choice. However, that would be a lame reprint (DDs aren't above those!) and an INCREDIBLY lame card to have brand new art wasted on (again, it happens but in general the DD cards with new art are a lot more exciting than Leap or Tidal Surge). But what else could it be? I have no idea.
3. My first thought was also either Decree of Justice or Entreat the Angels/Devout Invocation. The problem is...Decree of Justice is getting a reprint in the new white Commander precon. Would Wizards really reprint a rare like that twice in a row, so close together? Entreat and Invocation are both mythics, and Wizards doesn't put mythics (aside from the face card) in duel decks. Maybe they're changing that stipulation (Probably not). The angel in front is definitely Elspeth (right?) blessed by her 2nd ability from Elspeth, Knight-Errant (aka Angelic Blessing). However, Angelic Blessing is yet another terrible card to waste new art on. Guess the art could be Luminarch Ascension...maybe..?
4. Terese Nielsen art on an iconic Rebecca Guay card? That would be a stab in the heart to a lot of Guay fans! It could be, though. Wouldn't be a terrible choice. I like the speculation that it might be Mother of Runes. Archaeomancer was interesting speculation too.

They put plenty of spikey cards in duel decks, and often in a context where they are not used at their full potential so I don't think that's a good argument against High Tide. I do, however, take your point about the content of the art; we clearly have a landmass rising out of the water rather than being covered by it (notice the water cascading down the cliffs). My instinct would be something that alters land types but those seem to be all flavoured as illusion type effects (i.e. Phantasmal Terrain) whereas this art suggests true change. I would certainly not say it's 100% High Tide, though.

I guess I tend to think that combo pieces are more "spiky" than other constructed playables like Path to Exile, Lightning Helix, etc. But you know what? I'm just biased because I think one-shot mana ramp spells are boring. I know that Dark Ritual and Seething Song have been in previous duel decks though. I wouldn't be surprised if Kiora's deck has a merfolk tribal theme and the card is something like Aquitect's Will. Or Spreading Seas.

I think it could be High Tide. It makes more sense than Whelming Wave anyway. High Tide would make the DD strong, but since it's half green, not too OP when it's designed to go against Elspeth's.
The art on the first image is indeed strange. I think it is intended that way. From what I can tell, it doesn't look like a wave washed over land, but rather that the land itself rose out of the ocean (agree with the cascading water hint). See my signature for details. I think this "landmass" is actually Arixmethes the polis. On the other side of that mountain is probably what we're seeing in the background of the second image depicting Kiora leaping out of the ocean. The reason is because the terrain of that landmass seems too bizarre to be natural land with those crooked shelfs of forest and the steepness. I wonder if it's actually just an alternate art Island showing were Kiora is located right now. How often do DDs have alternate art lands? Not much else is happening in that art besides showing land that just appeared.
It could be a UG Card instead though. Could it be Explore? Playing an additional land makes sense with land rising out of the ocean. Aquitect's Will makes a lot of sense too though.
Archaeomancer makes the most sense to me for the last art what with the Hieroglyphics and all. Getting major Rosetta Stone vibes from that art.
Wizards print good rares, players complain about cash grab. They print underwhelming rares, players complain that the cards suck. They spoil the best cards first, players complain about the insane prices of preorders. They spoil the meh cards first, players complain that this is the worst set ever.
So. I think I understand now.
As far as these forums are concerned, WotC can never do anything good because:
Card that is new and probably good = "pushed"
Card that is new and probably bad = "EDH/casual fodder"
Card that is a reprint = "lazy"
Card that is a better version of an older card = "power creep"
Card that is a weaker version of an older card = "worthless"
I guess I tend to think that combo pieces are more "spiky" than other constructed playables like Path to Exile, Lightning Helix, etc. But you know what? I wouldn't be surprised if Kiora's deck has a merfolk tribal theme and the card is something like Aquitect's Will. Or Spreading Seas.
In terms of the player personalities, we usually call Johnny someone who likes combo pieces and other things to show off creativity, whereas Spike likes cards that are generally good/efficient even if they're boring.

I know, but I don't really think "Johnny" when I think of Tendrills/Brain Freeze/Mind's Desire turn 2 win combo.
I don't like the thought of adding another basic land type. Because, that would change the back of the newer cards from the pentagram to a hexagram. Which would force players to use sleeves if they want to use newer and older cards in any format(you're crazy if you're one who doesn't use sleeves already).
No!!! Why Elspeth v Kiora? I have a foil Sun's Champion now.
The legend is kinda, meh.

When they said they "found a way to make another type of basic land" it means they WONT have to change the card back. A thing like the card back change will only happen along with something REALLY major.
Its another type o basic land, NOT another color. This one will most certainly produce colorless, but you can run more than 4 copies, because its basic.
Probably good speculation, but I have some problems with them:

I probably should explain my logic then. The first 2 cards are very much Kiora's Cards
1st : My first thought was something like spreading seas given the artwork however due to the products nature being able to land hose your opponent wouldn't really be fun, granted most big sea creature use the whole island to attack notion. Why I think its High Tide is cause the card is thematically very suitable to the deck and acts as a sort of mana ramp without it being to oppressive.
2nd : Is a really tough choice for me, it seems like it is a spell rather than a creature and given Flight's somewhat iconic card this seemed like a shoein. It could be gaea skyfolk which someone else has pointed out but the image seems very much kiora herself. That being said it could always be Temporal Spring (spring being a verb not a noun in this case) and even something like Tidal Wave could suit the artwork.
3rd : The artwork itself, doesn't feel like a blessing or a divine intervention sort of deal, its also not a creature judging by the artwork , unless there is new card called host of angels or something. Having decree of justice be in this years commander deck doesn't mean much, the target markets are quite different. Not all like EDH and not all like duel decks. The fact that decree of justice makes soldiers is probably a good indication to its suitability. Also give the artwork its most certainly a card that makes more than one 4/4 angel. I suppose Angelic Accord is maybe like 10%
4th : The reason I chose 25% Auramancer 75% Banisher Priest is firstly the card has to be white, since as stated before Kiora already has the first 2. Auramancer really needs new artwork if wizards choses to keep using the card over and over again also the glowing hand seems to be a recurring theme. Banisher Priest kinda works with the artwork the character is most certainly a priest or cleric of some sorts . Mother of runes seems far to powerful for a duel deck. Protection tends to hose most duel decks. 5% Evangel of Heliod 5% one of the soul sisters
