My Commander decks:
Chandra, Torch of Defiance - Oops! All Chandras.
Prime Speaker Zegana - Draw for Power.
Pir & Toothy - Counterpalooza.
Arcades, the Strategist - Another Brick in the Wall.
Zacama, Primal Calamity - Calamity of Double Mana.
Edgar Markov - Vampires Don't Die.
Child of Alara - Dreamcrusher.
What's the deal with the roman numerals? I don't think I've seen those on a playmat before, but then again, I really haven't looked at playmats in a while.
Seeing the Nahiri mat, though, I think it's time to retire my old mat. Oh, okay, I'll get Daretti too, twist my arm.
The art on these looks great, with the exception of Ob. But yeah, what's with all the other crap on there? Are the numerals to help you keep track of times you've cast your commander? And what is up with the card outline spot? I understand the WotC and UltraPro logos, but everything else is excessive.
Yeah, the sleeves look good, but the mats just look cluttered and ugly. The planeswalker art just doesn't look good when cropped that much, and I'm still not sure what those markings on the mat are supposed to be for; commander and times it's been cast, I guess? Not a good place for that, sitting right in front of all my stuff, rather than off to the side somewhere.
The only one i'm even half-considering is the lithomancer. the rest just look bad/lazy. Since these were PW maybe the artists didn't go all-out in making a landscape-friendly design?
pssshhh like anyone uses sleeves these days..../sarcasm
I dont hate the playmats, but definitely wont buy any. Pass

The true mind can weather all the lies and illusions without being lost. The true heart can tough the poison of hatred without being harmed. Since beginning-less time, darkness thrives in the void but always yields to purifying light.

but when he leaves them speechless with wisdom.
I definitely like the sleeves. Ultra Pro finally stepped up their game and produced higher quality sleeves lately right? I've heard that they have improved since the M15 set was released.
For what it's worth, the opposite of evergreen is "deciduous" so I suggest we start using that from now on to refer to shroud, banding, islandhome, etc.
The Commander playmats look great, feature roman numberals across the top as well as a zone in which to place your Commander during game play. The sleeves feature a foil-like 'Chrome effect' on the graphic as well.
That's a quote from the link (which misspelled "numerals"). Obviously, the rectangle is for the commander. At first, I was going to say that the "numberals" were for the times you've cast your general, but I think they're a great way of tracking general damage either for or against you.
I'm fine-ish with the Command Zone "slot," but those numerals seem arbitrary and they bother me-
Why 5?! What on earth is grouped in fives in Commander?!
For times my commander has been cast, I'd prefer more than 5 (and much smaller),
and for keeping track of commander damage, THREE is the right number...
Where on earth did they get five?
My favorite part of this post is getting to see the full Art for Ob Nixilis-
his armor is badass.

I can't stand having my deck placed vertical. I have to have it horizontal. It is much easier to rip a card off the top and place it into my hand. Seems like a product designed by someone who doesnt EDH properly.
Actually, I'm going to guess the intention of the command zone on the mat is for the Planeswalker commander for.when it's on the board as evidenced by the Planeswalker symbol, the numbers could just be a way to track arbitrary things in a more organized fashion. Mana, commander damage to/from, storm count, cards in hand/gy, etc. You're just using dice anyway, but it's organized this way. I dunno, in like it, but respect the wish for a plain mat.
As for art, I agree that On Nix looks a lot better. I want Freya and Nahiri, and now Ob lol
Being that they're playmats based around the commander theme, I'm pretty darn sure that those numerals refer to the number of times the commander has been put back into the command zone to help keep track of its casting cost.
