Loreseekers' Stone 6
Artifact
Unco 3,T: Draw three cards. This ability costs 1 more to activate for each card in your hand. The mages come from afar to bathe in its wisdom
The carddraw can be useful in some decks, but paying 6 up front is pretty expensive nonetheless. I mean, for 5 you can get Mind's Eye. But the decks that really need colorless carddraw, i.e. the white and red decks, are probably still going to run this.
So, Myriad Landscape grants all mono decks ramp, Unstable Obelisk gives all mono decks a way to deal with any permanent and now this gives all mono decks card draw.
Wizards is really trying to fix the inherent disadvantage with playing monocolor, and yet none of these seems unfair or too powerful. Color me impressed (pun intended).
Is this playable in Legacy MUD? It costs 6 mana to activate if you have 3 cards in hand, and it's not like drawing cards during your upkeep ever stopped Staff of Nin (so you usually have to wait 1 turn to draw cards with both rocks), but eating that much mana to draw cards can be prohibitive even in 12-Post MUD builds...

I doubt it's playable in MUD; once you pay the Staff's cost, you just get a free card every turn, and the Staff also does a nice job of dealing with pesky X/1's.
At a *minimum*, this is 9 to net your first three cards, and then you've either got to have enough mana loose to play some of those cards, or see your next activation cost increase even more.
Meh...There's so many better ways to draw cards, UNLESS you're in white, which is probably why this exists, but still. Meh.
Sorry, this is obviously good in monored EDH where it's very easy to be hellbent.
Even white gets a better deal out of Pursuit of Knowledge, if it stis for three turns or you can otherwise skip three draws.
But this is a fun card. Sadly a really aggressive deck won't want to pay 6 over 2R for a Wheel of Fortune, for example, but stil ok.
Would have preferred Dreamstone Hedron reprint.

The "Crazy One", playing casual magic and occasionally dipping his toes into regular play since 1994.
Currently focusing on Pre-Modern (Mono-Black Discard Control) and Modern (Azorious Control, Temur Rhinos).
Find me at the Wizard's Tower in Ottawa every second Saturday afternoons.
My biggest problem with this is that Tower of Fortunes exists, is cheaper to play, draws more cards, and will be cheaper to activate when you have some cards in hand already (meaning definitely if you're activating consistently).

Wait..
So French dudes named Pierre are literally named "stone"?
It'd be like if The Rock was a common English name.
In fact it is, though the actual name is Peter Though both the name and the word for stone in french still go back to the latin/greek roots, whereas both english and german kept the latin/greek name but the germanic word for stone
Indeed, St. Peter's original name was Simon, but he and Jesus already had a pal named Simon, so Jesus just nicknamed his BFF "The Rock".
On the card: Wow, how... Dull. I don't even think I'd run this in Karn.

I think "Loreseekers' Stone" is more likely to see Legacy play than Tower of Fortunes has(n't), though.
Tower of Fortunes starts winning if you have 5 or more cards in hand, and if you intend on resolving and activating on the same turn, Tower starts winning if you have 3 cards in hand. But, given how often I mulligan with Legacy MUD, and given the nonzero chance that Kuldotha Forgemaster cheats it out, I'm fairly likely to tap Stone for cheaper than Tower for most of the game.

I was speaking strictly from an EDH perspective here. If you think this card is playable in MUD in Legacy, that's a different story. I don't have enough experience with that deck to make that call.

Generals meant to be drafted first in a single pack of 6 cards.
And here is the actual cube, meant to be drafted in 4 regular sized packs. (60 card decks)
reminds me of Dreamstone Hedron.

I like the card. Even expensive, repetitive card draw is never bad.
