You just play it earlier don't need every land to come into play untapped. It is mostly that I don't have a hall of the bandit lord.
The ten mana is relevant though, but its not like I don't have other haste enablers in the early game they are just more fragile than a land. I often don't cast zirilan until later in the game. Sometimes I can't find protection or a sac outlet, often other people have taken the control role and I can sit back and just play a land every turn and not have to do anything until I am ready to... go off.
also mana doublers makes getting 10 mana not that hard.
I have a bunch of dragons that will need haste 1 more mana to give haste is something I am willing to pay.
I love that they're throwing Lorwyn a bone like they did with Kamigawa in Planechase. Hopefully there are a few more cards from that plane. A flamekin walker would be awesome ... but I don't t think that's going to happen, because it doesn't quite fit the decks main theme, which seems to be artifacts ("Built from Scratch").
That taps for R, taps for mana without paying life, and may not ETB tapped. This is excellent.
If you're trying to cast a Commander and make it have haste simultaneously, Hall of the Bandit Lord is potentially better. With Flamekin Village, you have to pay R in addition to the casting cost of the Commander/creature. With Hall of the Bandit Lord, provided your Commander/creature has a colorless mana cost, you can use the land's 1 to cast it and give it haste.
for those who did not see it, this is completing the cycle of Wanderbrine Hub and Rustic Clachan: better than average lands if you have the type in hand. There were some suals, Rustic Clachan with reinforce (cause kithkin was monowhite) and a 5 color one for elementals only. The thing is, there were 2 types of elemental in this set: the flamekin, which were red, and the imagination-themed ones (not sure how they were called), which were present in all colors. Summing it up, for those that enjoyed lorwyn, this is just beautiful. also, it is good in nontribal decks!

Not just pay R. You have to tap the village as well. So you're essentially paying 2 mana more to give something haste.

Correct, but in some decks it will come into play untapped. Really though, I'm more impressed that it casts non-creatures with the same ease as a Mountain. There have been enough times when I've tapped Hall of the Bandit Lord or Boseiju, Who Shelters All to cast a spell that didn't need their bonuses or I've needed colored mana. I'll take general utility over specifics 95% of the time.
I see this as basically a non-suicidal Hall of the Bandit Lord. Sure it doesn't have the same amount of speed, but unless you're playing an extremely fast & unfair deck (like Kaalia), you'll usually want this since you don't have to pay a pound of flesh to tap it for mana.
I would say hall of bandit lord is better in 90% of the decks that want this kind of effect. Let's skip the fact that hall is colorless so fits any deck and this land in particular only fits decks with red. My krenko, mob boss deck won't appreciate having to pay two more mana to cast my general with haste, and that seems to be true for almost all the decks that cast commanders with haste effects. That being said, maybe it can make the cut to the deck since it would be a worse hall, but still haste enabler. Not sure. Will give it a try.

I actually like it quite a bit better than Hall,
Which *always* enters tapped, and doesn't have a painless way of generating *any* mana, let alone colored.
I would say it's replacing Hall in my Gisela deck, but who am I kidding? I'll just run both.
it might replace Hall in Sliver Overlord and Melek, Izzet Paragon, though.

Yeah, I sometimes think people forget that a typical EDH Deck will have 40 creatures at most. That means at least 1/3 of the non-lands will like this card over Bandit Lord. I know for me, I tend to build decks with 12-15 creatures so maybe my bias is clouding my view of the card.
Well, it's not gonna replace Hall in my Kaalia or Jeleva where I want a turn 4 cast and swing, but it'll probably find a place in my Animar or Nicol Bolas where the extra mana for haste creatures is not unreasonable.
In response to crocodile, there are usually multiple themes in commander decks. Take the marath one from last year as an example: beasts, tokens, and a little bit of +1/+1 counter shenanigans.
Not only are they revisiting old characters, but they're bringing in old artists too. This appears to be the first new Ron Spears artwork since Lorwyn. Fingers crossed for more.

Agreed. This land is strong due to the fact that at the end of the day, it gives you unconditional love red mana.

I see hall as being useful for commanders who really need haste. Your Bragos, your Godos, your brimaz, your jeleva, your Krenko. This land is not for those commanders. This land is for late-game, when you topdeck something that you'd like to attack with immediately. Early-game this card is useless. It etbt unless you're playing horde of notions, and you won't want to spend 2 mana for haste. But if haste is just something you'd sort of like to have, generally-speaking, but you're not that worried about it, this thing is fine.
