Do keep in mind that they make these decks every year. And if popular-characters-long-dead-but-making-their-first-card-appearance proves to be as popular as we know it will be, you can bet that some of the characters people would still like to see (Serra, Urza, Yawgmoth, Leshrac, Kristina of the Woods, Guff, Slobad, Xantcha, Gaea, Hurkyl, Glacian, Ashnod, Gix, et al) will definitely make an appearance in a future product.
I'm curious as to what they were thinking when including Nahiri in the first place. I had thought this set was supposed to exist outside of the main story arc? Why are they introducing an important character who is theoretically still relevant to the story in a commander product at all? She could easily get printed in an expert set during the inevitable return to Zendikar, where she can come into full focus. Or do you think she will get printed both here and in an expert set? I honestly don't get it.
You have worded this way better than I could. Waste of a slot for a pretty known character at that.
I mean, at least there were some hints of what Ob Nixilis could've been with 2 cards of his already. Or maybe that's why they chose Nahiri? She's almost a blank slate on her background with her powers with just the Hedrons and stuff.... I bet the R & D found it more flexible.

I agree completely, however some of them, such as Slobad/Serra/Gix are most likely mono-colored, so if they continue the pattern of two new, one old with new products, Slobad and Serra would have to wait longer than Gix since they wouldn't be a facecard in the decks until the next wave of mono-colored commander products, where Gix being a non-planeswalker could appear faster. They've said in articles that they want to mix it up, so the next ones might be allied color pairs, enemy pairs, etc.
That's the major reason the Serra/Slobad fans are disappointed, they will have to wait till the next mono-wave. It could be next year, or a few, no one knows.
Have you even considered the possibility that she's dead?
Sure. But if she isn't then my point stands. Although, even if she is, they could print her anyway in Return to Zendikar.
I still don't understand why somebody of that much plot significance is given their big reveal in a side supplemental product that some portion of magic players won't even see. But, I digress.
They wanted to introduce who they were before they use them in the Return to Zendikar, which makes a lot of sense from a marketing stand point. If your audience is now familiar with the characters, they will respond better with higher sales later on. It's brilliant marketing imo, and Ob Nixilis is actually pretty neat I think.
I disagree, I think their main strategy is introducing a character in an expert set and then including them in a side product once they are known to be popular. (i.e. Gisa and Geralf) Has there but any new characters introduced in a non-expert set that became popular and are now in a expert set?

Nissa, Ral and Kiora were introduced in Duels of the Planeswalkers. #shrug
If Nahiri is meant to be long dead in the current continuity, then a supplemental set is the only place she could be printed. The more important point though, is that the abilities they settled on for the white planeswalker probably didn't align with Serra's. I'd expect a Serra card to involve creating angels and/or lifegain in some manner, but from the name of the deck it seems they decided on an equipment theme. In which case, a Zendikar Kor would be a better fit.

That's a great point actually, I would argue it counts. Lots of the legends from the commander produces were either referenced in flavor, or fully reprinted like Edric or Bassandra.
We might get a Stoneforge reprint others have suggested, which would honestly be pretty awesome. The red deck is getting Wurmcoil engine, so it's possible imo
So if the white deck has an equipment theme, and Nahiri is indeed the planeswalker printed for it, what do you expect for her mechanics? Might be finally a white artifact-based walker? Can give equipment a living weapon type ability? Something totally unrelated?
I know most of this is just because I really want to see Serra as a card, but I feel like I've been baited with all these angel spoilers. Combined with the other pre-Mending walkers and characters, Serra just seemed to be the logical choice.
I'll keep my hopes alive until the white planeswalker is spoiled, if anything because I feel like I owe her to, um, have faith. :))

From the name of the deck, and the potential for the planeswalker to be a Kor from Zendikar, it seems like the equiptment theme is highly likely. However, one piece keeps buggin me... From the "hint" article:
Once we had some designs we were happy with, we judged that some of them were close enough to the mechanical identities we'd established for Ajani, Liliana, and Nissa that we could nudge them a bit to fit those characters.
Freyalise's closeness to Nissa is obvious. Remember Nissa's revealed playtest card from M15? It was almost exactly the same as the printed Freyalise. I can also see how Liliana could be stretched to become the resulting Ob Nixilis walker card. But when has Ajani ever dealt with artifacts/equipment?
@Lameck: Yeah, I thought about that too but it's possible they ended up redesigning the white planeswalker, or it was an odd version of Ajani. Between all his different versions, Ajani has actually had quite a few different kinds of abilities under his belt.
All I know is that the original Ajani pretty much makes Serra Avatar tokens. At the end of the day though, the evidence leaning towards Nihiri is a little too strong.

My apologies, children, for I am afraid I cannot save you all.
My biggest fear is that they're going to introduce this wondrous, legendary new Kor character responsible for creating thousands of giant, magic hedrons, and because the design for this set was so crap, Nahiri's card will look like this:
+1: Gain 3 life
-3: Give a guy vigilance, first strike and lifelink
-8: put a dude into play for each creature you control.
(4)
super generic whitewalker with no ties to Nahiri at all whoooo

This is entirely possible. The best we can hope for is something to do with a permission card like ghostly prison effect or an odd equipment search, which will be very flavorful but admittedly odd imo
Until it gets finally confirmed a part of my brain is still finding ways to fit Serra in, due in part to all the Angel cards flocking out of the spoilers and the fact that it may take a long time for a chance for mono-colored Commander Planeswalkers to come by again.
Going by "Forged in Stone" alone, Serra too has dealings with Stone. Heck, her Sanctum is largely made out of stone IIRC. Then there's also the OPALs that were tied to her appearance back in the Urza Cycle (Opal Guardian, Opal Titan, Opal Archangel, Opal Avenger, Opal Champion, Soul Sculptor are all situated in her realm.)
So yeah, counting the days till I start wallowing.

All we know that she is most likely not a Planeswalker Commander. There are several places she could show up, The summer supplemental product a planeswalker in a future multicolor commander deck just not the Commander. She could theoretically show up in Magic Origins if the rumours are true and it that's the name of the last Core set. (Honestly that's the theory that makes the most sense to me)
Until we saw Teferi I'm not sure there was a huge demand for Serra as planeswalker card or whatever demand there was, was for the most part wishful thinking.
I'm sure MaRo and the others have noticed the demand for Serra and have put her on the short list for future planeswalkers that fit outside the normal story line
