Actually, I've never thought any plane-bound people were even aware of the existence of inter-planar travel.
I wouldn't say it's impossible, but the fact that they've never developed any awareness says a lot.
Planeswalkers are notable on a lot of worlds. Zendikar, Dominaria, Fiora, Mercadia, some others. I wouldn't say the knowledge is common, exactly, but a lot of the worlds we've been to are aware of walkers because of the impact they've left in their wake.
This is insane. Out of all the potential planeswalkers for a mono colored deck, the one everyone seemed to want the most is Serra and now it seems like we won't get her. I'm also "pre angry" for a potential lack of Serra. Seriously. Angels are one of the most popular creature types (competing with Dragons, Elves, Demons, and Goblins). Why they would miss such a clear opportunity to print an Angel card to headline a new set is beyond me. It's ridiculous.
Just want to point out that Serra is not, and never was, an angel.
I'm aware. She's responsible for an entire realm populated largely by angels. Putting her in as a commander would imply a heavy focus on Angels. She's also big on enchantments, and we don't have an enchantress general in monowhite so she would have been a perfect fit for everything Wizards wanted to accomplish (nostalgia, selling product, drumming up interest in monocolored generals, giving us commanders that do new things for their color).

They give us Teferi and Freyalise. 2 popular oldwalkers that nobody thought would appear in card form not so long ago.

Serra will see print. Probably. Just later, be patient. You already waited for +- a decade anyway.
Words of wisdom. While I'm disappointed that Serra won't printed now, WOTC was well advised to try their hand with Freyalise and Teferi first. Instead of screwing up Serra or other old walkers (underwhelming, over-costed, out of flavour, etc.), they took the slow road and make sure when they do this, they will do it right...
Teferi, Temporal Archmage strikes me as the best of the new planeswalkers. He provides ramp and cards. He locks down the board with Stasis if you want to go. I'm a fan. And he's freaking Teferi! None of the others does much for me. I'll run our new goblin walker in my Godo, Bandit Warlord deck. I'm glad Freyalise got a card and I might play her someday.

I love her art and the flavor is super spot on. Yeah, it's not Serra, which bums me out too, but this is pretty cool. Time to make room in my Rafiq deck...
I totally called 2.5 of those planeswalkers!
I nailed Freyalise & Nahiri. And I proposed a red planeswalker that worked with artifacts (even though I said Slobad, Daretti seems like A nostalgic version that wizards can print later.).
I don't think they'll ever print a card for Urza or Serra - they would be too powerful!
Overall, I am super excited and anxious to buy all five decks!

Anyway i expected a more controlling version of Nahiri too, something like -3 O-ring a permanent.
