New article today that I saw on WotC's website, towards the begining Mike Rosenberg says...
"We won't be revealing the 40 Prerelease promo rares, so what you're going to get will be a mystery. The fastest way to find out what the Prerelease promos are will be to attend a Prerelease and see what you and everyone else gets."
I dont attend to prereleases but i like the idea of not seeing what you get and just go with what you like best clan wise. Makes you think a bit more than "Herpderp this one is ofc the best one"

I really do think this is a strong move in the right direction. Being able to guarantee which rare you got in your pool was the most imbalanced thing that could ever happen in a limited format.
I'll be honest though, I still wish they scrapped the whole thing and went back to everyone using the same tools: 6 boosters and creativity.
Don't let this be KHAN-fusing! I like the idea! Be truly surprised when you get there and not know what the promo will be....they gotta keep switching things up on us some of the time. To get comfortable will cause customers to become complacent and the work will get stale.
Also, your thread title is confusing. It looks like what you're saying is no promo leak for forever, where this will just be for Khans.
KHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANS!
Oops sorry about the confusion, I wasn't sure if I added "in Khans of Tarkir" if it would all fit in the title. If it does work could a mod fix it by adding that please.

Of course, they COULD also just hand out six normal boosters. You know, like they used to. And perhaps even give us a decent promo for coming to the prerelease. ALSO, like they used to...
I agree so much with this. Prereleases were so much better with 6 packs IMO. I go to open new cards and play sealed. Not play intro decks.
Because conservative bias is a far, far worse thing. Liberal bias doesn't, statistically speaking, make people stupid. Conservative bias (or at least Fox's version of it) does.

Hopefully not. The playable promos have put a huge dent in the prerelease experience for me. They are never balanced with one another, and even if they were it still as much fun knowing that every opponent is going to have one of a limited number of bombs.
I am fine with either the Khans way or the old 6 pack + Mythic Promo.
I do like this as it gives a little flair to the pre-release and makes it more than just a normal Sealed event. There will be plenty of sealed events with just six packs later. It is nice to play a little different and add some flavour to the event other than crack packs and win. This is meant to be casual fun, not grinding or win a Pro Tour seat/GP byes.
I am not pleased by this news, since the prerelease promo card is usually what influences my decision as to what faction I choose at a prerelease; i.e., I choose the faction that shall give me the promo card that is most appealing to me.
I do hope that WotC is not doing this with every set from now on, or I otherwise shall have great difficulty in choosing a faction at prerelease events, which may make me less likely to attend such events.

You kinda hit the point, they want people to pick a fraction based on what they want to play not what the promo is. Plus with 8 possible rates it isn't like this is even a given thing.

People didn't liked those playable promos with another rare on pack , because
A: if the promo was good , people would try to be on that faction
B: if you choosed your pack and all the card under your faction's colors where bad you would try to run it because of the promo( And usually leading to bad decks)
C: People didn't got a real sealed experience neither a "old good days" prerelease experience
D: Casuals ( one of the players wizards focus when doing pre releases) that liked to play with a color combination usually doen't got those colors kit
E: People looked like the pre release was a high tier event
Now at least people will usualy choose their faction based on likes or like real limited players : Bassed on their commons and uncommons
I really like this. Prereleases with this seeded pack setup thus far have been:
Pick the faction with the best promo.
Play said promo.
Wreck people with said promo.
Like M15 everyone was picking black if they could. In journey into nyx white. Also throws way more variety into limited games where you don't automatically know the promo your opponent is playing based on their colors.

"Yawgmoth," Freyalise whispered as she set the bomb, "now you will pay for your treachery."
Umm why not idk, choose your faction based on more than just the promo. There are these things called commons and uncommons that make up most of the cards you will open. Just a suggestion.
Bomb rares are the best thing you can get in limited. Doesn't matter what my opponent has if I have some bomb rare that warps the game around itself whenever it sticks. Yes, commons are the bread and butter of limited but if you had to choose between bomb rare or no bomb rare which would you choose?

Bomb rares are great but they old system made everyone choose their faction based on whatever the best rare was. This new system makes it more like a normal 6 pack sealed set. God I swear the MTG community is just as bad as the Yugioh kids at my locals except those kids have reasons to *****. Bunch of entitled man children "whaaa I want my guaranteed rare promo, so what if it ruins sealed play and makes games predictable and repetitive".
well either way, I'm doing the seeded booster compilations again, so we'll hopefully know all the rares by the end of the weekend. Please consider contributing as many lists as you can get ahold of during your local prerelease events this weekend so we can get them done faster.

That's asking a lot.
I'm right there with you. Just give me my boosters and let me build. I don't need this seeded pack garbage they're obsessed with these days.
