Instead of everybody who chooses the same clan getting the same Prerelease rare, instead there is a subset of eight different foil Prerelease rares per clan that you could receive. You'll still get a take-away card from the event that's stamped with the date—but it'll feel a bit more unique than the old Prerelease cards.
so since english is not my first mother language, i am a little bit confused.
what is the bolded word meant ??? is that the 6th rare or
is this mean we get 7th rare after the pre release event ?
I believe they're talking about the 6th rare. There's no extra rare after the pre-releaes.

if there is 7th rare but can't play in the event similar to older prerelease it won't be the case I think

No its just saying that your pre-release card will "feel more unique" apparently because you personally received it by random chance rather than having it assigned to you.
We don't get the clan banner, the LGS gets it for the event.
The strange large sarkhan "playmat" is an advertisement poster for Gameday for stores to hang up, similar to the one that is given to stores for the pre-release.
Ugh. Hardened Scales AND Trial of Mystery?! There is usually a rare that's unplayable even by limited standards within the pool (I opened Mana Bloom in one of my RTR seeded packs), but both?! It's going to feel so miserable when other people are opening their foil Khans or Butcher of the Horde and you get a card you can't even play in sealed.
Both of these can be game defining in limited. If you get them in your first 7 cards of the game..
People seem to keep forgetting that there IS alt art for some cards, just not for the promos.
In a weird way, they've managed to make three different potential versions of the same card. You can get three different foil versions of the Intro Pack cycle.
As for the change, it's a work in progress. They only started doing this sort of thing recently, and they changed it. If the complaints continue, they'll change it again. I personally don't care one way or another about the promo (my wallet weeps though). I just want to play some Magic.
people complaining about different power level on pre rare. now wotc give us randomize prerelease promo. and people still complaining.
keep on complaining people, and then maybe, wotc will give us complete on color rare set for the pre release seeded pack.
Wizards print good rares, players complain about cash grab. They print underwhelming rares, players complain that the cards suck. They spoil the best cards first, players complain about the insane prices of preorders. They spoil the meh cards first, players complain that this is the worst set ever.
So. I think I understand now.
As far as these forums are concerned, WotC can never do anything good because:
Card that is new and probably good = "pushed"
Card that is new and probably bad = "EDH/casual fodder"
Card that is a reprint = "lazy"
Card that is a better version of an older card = "power creep"
Card that is a weaker version of an older card = "worthless"
It would have been cool if we got alt art of the khans Ala the trailer art. That would bring in a lot of people in! But Wizards doesn't like taking my money apparently.

To the people that say that a card needs to be a higher rarity because of Limited... I hate you guys so much. I present to you with this.
I don't see why anyone is upset about this new pre-release format, I think it sounds cool, plus now everyone pick the same clan and there will be some more diversity.

someone likes competitiveness in prerelease to brew
others love to have alternate art by not consider it's playable in that pool or not a rare is a rare
actually if they reduce the rare by no more alternate art, why don't they reduce some bucks for players so that we can enjoy prerelease as it should be
I don't see why anyone is upset about this new pre-release format, I think it sounds cool, plus now everyone pick the same clan and there will be some more diversity.
No, no your misunderstanding. There will be no difference to diversity. In RtR you still got 6 rares to play from with an extra rare promo. The only change is that you go from 7 rares down to 6. That is the only change. No one forced you to play with the 7th rare. In actual fact this change will probably weaken decks as it means there would be less rares in their limited deck. This is why people are upset, you are getting less bang for your buck. Yes lately the promos were bad but they were still rare and better than a common. What people don't get is that the alternate art was something that people looked foreward too. I get extremely competitive players don't care for promos but some of us who care more about the art do.
Really?
THE ONLY REAL CHANGE IS: PEOPLE WILL NOT CHOOSE THEIR COLOR ON PRERELEASE BASSED ON THE PROMO...
Now , realy, stop complaining... If you played Limited you would know that what really matters on it are Uncommons and Commons . Rares are just rares , maybe it is a bomb but if you know how to build your limited deck you wouldn t be that anoying. And almost all those prerealease promo rares are over costed dumb bombs that half the games you draw them you don't see they in play...
On RTR i went Rakdos ... do you know how much i saw the selesnyan rare in action? one time... and it was used to block before he conceded... I played against 3 GW guys.
You sound silly " A rare is a rare" lol stop *****ing ... One of the best cards in the game are uncommons and commons ... The Clan' Charms are better than half RTR and THS prerelease promo rares, the charms would do way more for you than a silliy overcosted rare that is unplayable outside of limited and casual ( and sometimes commander)...
They don't give a garanted promo rare and soo people may actually choose their kit based on what they like instead of what people that want to win the Prerelease don't think is a good color/color combbination to be.
It looks as though we'll get an extra uncommon instead of a rare. In previous prereleases we got a rare and three uncommons but, in the pack he opened, there were four uncommons. If that's the case, I would much rather have an extra uncommon than a guaranteed intro pack rare. Particularly with how much more playable the uncommons tend to be. As a collector, only the loss of alternate art dissatisfies me.
How did she ordered her packs? The first pile contains 16 cards, which —if we suppose the piles are the cards of each booster pack— implies a 7th rare.
I like powerful cards. But in limited, you would want a more skilled and level playing field. Ergo,I hate swingy cards. This is why I chose not to play Journey prerelease.

I doubt it. But you go ahead and win some games with a turn 1 Hardened Scales, I'm going to keep hoping for a better foil.
AS from what I have read we get an extra uncommon, I'm happy. Especially since that means extra shots at the Charms. The promo cards always sucked. Seems like a good change and I for one prefer to have that unknown factor in my games.

If you read my post I was more concerned with the lack of alternate art then the power of rares...
Also if you choose your clan based on the promo then your not really embracing the whole clan thing. I played as dimir a lot in limited during gatecrash. Did I lose a lot? Yes, cause cipher was damn expensive. Why did I keep playing dimir? Because I enjoyed it.
Only a pathetic fan boy would throw a hissy fit at a person stating the obvious. The only person here "*****ing" is you because not everyone is overjoyed with the change. Some of us are more into prereleases for the art rather than to win.
No, no your misunderstanding. There will be no difference to diversity. In RtR you still got 6 rares to play from with an extra rare promo.

If you where not playing the promo this is a great news because you will not see those guys playing with a 10 bomb decks ( one being the promo ) at least not soo often...
This is why people are upset, you are getting less bang for your buck. Yes lately the promos were bad but they were still rare and better than a common.

They could go back to giving us interesting mythics as promos again and just let us not use them. It can really devalue that much value of the mythic because usually it still costs an arm and a leg. Wurmcoil Engine

Edit: ooh, a Ninja post. but glad more people feel this way. Text To follow +1^ What he said.
Yes im complaining about the lack of promo, OMG its better this way without you say? because no more warping of the choices.
Why does that require the removal of a promo at all?!? shouldn't they be able to change it back to how it previously was without to much difficulty.
Aka You know, how about just giving an Awsome promo AND just NOT have it playable and just 6 normal packs like it used to be....
We got this in M14 but as not as much people go to coreset' pre release i think wizards is thinking people didn't liked(for me it was great , have to look 2 times in my pool chooiising 4 colors that where good making a 2 colors deck and sometimes on game 2 change my entire deck ) ; also after m14 somepeople where whinning about the leak of the pre release kit and the playable promo... Also on the awersome promo thing, wizards said they would probably not put MR promos again ( I think MaRo said it) . And the way it is now it pleases the people that want the kit, the people that want the playable "promo" and people that wants a more fair pre release and for some extent old players that remenber when the prerelease promo was foil rares with the date on it. Maybe in the future they can make these boxes with 6 normal boosters and a 4 card booster with all in color cards ( 1 uncommon and 3 commons , maybe one or 2 with alternative art) , and give a non playable promo again ( This way at least would pleasure most of the inteligent people )(And by inteligent i mean people that are there to play , not just to complain)...

The issue with the whole diversity thing is that once you start getting up into your third or fourth games and up (if your pre-release filled up), you'll be playing the same prerelease promos most of the time since higher ranks are paired with higher ranks. My LGS actually checked this after the M15 Pre-release. Most of the top players had chosen black or had access to the black promo card through a booster pack. It also causes slots for the colors who have significantly better promos to be taken up much quicker. For example, after the first night of the pre-release at my LGS, I believe there were only like two of the black slots left while every other color had five to eight slots still open. If your pre-release does not fill up, then it is a very high probability that most of the people you will be playing against will have chosen the color with the "best" promo and will probably be using that promo unless their pulls were abysmal.
It makes sense to me why they didn't want to give the pre-release pack a "random" promo and another "random" rare. Having it have two random rares that are selected out of a small batch makes it very likely for one player to get two of a card that would be extremely good in limited, such as having two of a siege rhino or two of a khan from a single pack. The solution to that would probably be too costly since they would have to properly distribute the rares so things like that didn't happen.
I do dislike the fact they got rid of the pre-release alternate arts though. That was definitely a nice little add on that made the pre-release something that felt like it was worth going to if your store holds sealed events anyways; especially since they've reduced the amount of time between release dates and pre-release dates. Honestly, I think they could have easily just given us an alternate art promo for each clan and had it so that we couldn't use the promo and still have given us a seeded pack. Would have made so much more sense that way since it would not cause people to choose clans so they can win the pre-release unless there was a huge imbalance of power between seeded pack cards.
I crushed the three black decks I went against at my M15 prerelease. I just made my deck good against what I expected most of them to run. Pulling a Gurrak may have helped too.
Come on, we lost the card that you could throw to kids who really want them (0,01$ overprinted promo), this childish complaining is the reason I rarely read forums anymore. Instead we still get random promo that can have some value and use outside of the event. Furthermore the preleases are 1 rare less bombfest and you have more room to make your deck, all of these things are good refreshing change.
Yeah they were not always 1 cent cards
Remember when in miroden they actully gave us stuff that was usuable? between miroden and shadow more we got decent promos, then starting with shards they bumbed the prerealase promos up to mythic and between shards and new phyerixia we got promos we got the best sets of promo's in the history of the game with 50% of the prelease promo's and over 30% of the release promo's being good, then they decided no more mythics (or good promos in genral) since then 3 of the 36 prerelease promos and 1 out of the 14 release promo's have been good.
So to simplify it
sales were down- sometimes gave us good promos
sales went up - gave 50% good promos
sale went up-8% good promo's
sales went up- got rid of promo and simply put a gold stamp on a random rare.
If they where really worried about diverisity they could have just had the random promo in adition to the seeded pack. This is just Wotc cutting another corner, looks like promos are going the way of player reward cards.
A 40 dollar mythic rare would constitute a must have 4 of that goes in many decks.
Stats About Mythics
-Mythics are on average 40% rarer than pre-mythic rares
(old blocks about 200 rares, Mythic blocks 35+ mythics)
-They are printing more new cards a year not less
(about 665 now vs. 630 in most pre-mythic block)
-To drop the value of a rare by $1 a mythic must go up $2
-In a 3 year time span deck prices doubled. I am petitioning for the removal of mythic rarity. Sig this to join the cause.
