I'm hi-jacking this post with information - Wildfire393
The following information is known about the pre-release packs:
-Each seeded pack will only have one rare/mythic card in it, the pre-release foil.
-The prerelease foil will not have alternate art, but it will be stamped with the pre-release date
-The cards that show up as a pre-release promo are not necessarily restricted to the cards watermarked for that clan. Utter End, for instance, can show up in one of the packs. More information will be added here when it is received. End hi-jack
I am stuck between Jeskai and Abzan for prerelease and was wondering if anyone has done a rare crunch to figure what the eight rares per clan could be. Also, if I pick Abzan, will I get Azbnan uncommons, or white, green or black uncommons from and clan? So many questions
It's seven rares and a mythic, with the mythic being the Khan. I think it's safe to assume all promos will have the clan watermark, so here are the rare options:
So in Jeskai, Mardu, and Temur, you know what your options are. One Azban rare won't be a promo, and three Sultai rares won't. Why did the Sultai get so many more rares?
LOL Temur has the best rares. Trap Essence is a counter that can turn on Ferocious. Temur Ascendancy give your creatures Trample and turns creatures with 4 or more power into cantrips. Surrak Dragonclaw is
Surrak Dragonclaw. Savage Knuckleblade is Savage Knuckleblade. Avalanche Tusker is the weakest rare but still playable. Icy Blast wins games. Crater's Claws is removal and also finishes games. Rattleclaw Mystic is ramp/mana fixing dork.
Temur is also able to play a lot of Sultai and Jeskai. Hooting Mandrills, Treasure Cruise and Jeskai Windscout to name a few.
leslak has the right list here. Each pack has the chance for one of 8 rares (with the Khans being the only available mythic).
We know for sure what the promo pools are for Jeskai, Mardu, and Temur, as they only have 8 options. If we look at them we can see a pattern: Khan, 4 tri-color rares, and one mono-color rare in each color. We can use this information to extrapolate the other pools. Abzan has 9, which means one of the two white rares will be left out (High Sentinels of Arashin would be my guess). As for the Sultai, Rakshasa Deathdealer is probably out since it doesn't fit the pattern, as well as one blue and one black rare (Meandering Towershell is basically a lock, being the only green rare).

"In the beginning, MTG Salvation switched to a new forum format.
This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move."
It was at that moment that I realized: I'm kinda just making these things up. We can just write the rules the way we want them to work. People will have fun, and people will get it.
Wait.... so you are guaranteed a khan? Will it have alternate art? Cuz surrkar has some hideous original art. If they used the one from trailer that be great. Same goes for Anafeza

To the people that say that a card needs to be a higher rarity because of Limited... I hate you guys so much. I present to you with this.

The rares they're listing are the possible prerelease promos you could get. You'll get one of those eight.
I think it's fair to say that Raksasha Deathdealer won't be a promo given it's only two colours (I still can't get over they made that card in that slot a sultai when they also had sabu mauler I hate that card just on principle)
My orignal guess is the 5 wedge cards and one of each colour in the clan
So that would most likely mean Herald over Sentinels, cause Herald has the clan mechanic
And for Sultai it would be the wedges Towershell and Either Grim Haruspex AND Dig Through Time or Kheru Spellsnatcher and Necropolis Fiend. (I would hope it's the former because Grim and dig are much better cards) Or maybe I don't since I don't plan on playing sultai at the prerelease.
Actually here's a question for you. If you play at multiple prereleases like saturday and sunday do you get the same pack or go for something different?
ETA I forgot Mardu doesn't have a White rare that's watermarked so who knows
Hopefully the article on Monday will tell us what the promos are.
I hope there are two rares in the seeded pack. Because in the past the seeded pack had the promo that came with your color plus one random rare or mythic of that color that was also in the set. I hope the seeded pack is actually the Khan plus 1 of the clan cards but I'm doubtful this is the case. I do think there needs to be two rares in the seeded pack though, since that has been the case in the past.

We can make a guess at what the seeded rares are based on the Jeskai/Temur/Sultai watermarks- they each have 8, with 1 Leader, 4 3-color rares, and 3 mono-color rares. So all clans will use their 1 leader + 4 gold rares, and almost certainly have 3 other mono-colored promos, 1 of each color.
For the Abzan- this means either the Herald or the High Sentinels won't be in the pack.
For the Sultai, this means Raksasha Deathdealer won't be a promo.
The blue option will be either Dig Through Time or Kheru Spellsnatcher.
The black option will be either Necropolis Fiend or Grim Haruspex.
It would be nice for there to be a second rare if for no other reason then sealed has such potential go horribly wrong. Imagine the other five booster packs being a wedge rare in a different clan?
I'm expecting the seeded pack not to contain any colours outside of the clan. they may have different watermarks like a sultai blue or green in the Temur pack, but no white or black cards. I also expect the tap land in an uncommon slot and the banner in a common slot possibly one of the three refuge lands that would help as well.
-The prerelease foil will not have alternate art, but it will be stamped with the pre-release date
-The cards that show up as a pre-release promo are not necessarily restricted to the cards watermarked for that clan. Utter End, for instance, can show up in one of the packs. More information will be added here when it is received.
No alternate art is really disappointing. I'd rather have alternate art promos than all the alt art we've been getting in precons.
Only one rare in the sealed pack feels like a bummer, especially given that it doesn't have alt art
Yeah, and imagine how crappy you'll feel if the card you get is the intro pack rare. With the new system, you don't even get the second rare, so it's like someone just took out the rare you would have received normally. I really don't like the new way that they are doing things, especially since there's no alternate art.
I can't remember where I heard/saw it, and I can't seem to find it again, but I remember reading that seeded packs would include only cards that were on-color for your clan.

Sultai has 10: Kheru Lich Lord, Rakshasa Deathdealer, Rakshasa Vizier, Sultai Ascendancy, Villainous Wealth, Grim Haruspex, Necropolis Fiend, Dig Through Time, Kheru Spellsnatcher, Meandering Towershell
Mardu has 7: Ankle Shanker, Butcher of the Horde, Crackling Doom, Mardu Ascendancy, Howl of the Horde, Jeering Instigator, Bloodsoaked Champion
Temur has 7: Avalanche Tusker, Savage Knuckleblade, Temur Ascendancy, Trap Essence, Rattleclaw Mystic, Crater's Claws, Icy Blast

Yes , we get one rare in the sealed pack and it is the promo that is "random".

I don't think the Khans are promos... But you should get a chance to open them in the respective seeded booster.
