Still? I had thought it (Worldfire) had been unbanned at some point. Point taken about Braids, she just doesn't look that powerful at first glance, and as I said, I don't play to much Commander. It's just not really my thing, but this is one card that always confused me. So a Braids deck would be a ton of ramp to get her down as fast as possible yes?
A Braids deck is pretty linear, probably lots of ramp and making sure you can hit every land drop so she never has to sac herself. Anyway that can guarantee a turn 2 braids turns any game into a stall out or who can find one mana removal since no one will have more than one or two lands due to the fact they have to continuously sac them. Any player that misses a land drop ends up behind a land as well.
It bugs me that I need to take Braids out of Karador, Ghost Chieftain. I don't know if I should replace her with a sac outlet or a Grave Pact. She was both.

I would suggest a sac outlet since grave pact isn't particularly the most proactive card and doesn't particularly do anything without a sac outlet.
Edit: Not particularly sure if there is a good replacement for braids that does exactly what she does. At least with Rofellos you have other big mana rampers to fall back on.
It's pretty obvious that the banlist people for Commander just hate green. Stuff like Prime Time, Sylvan Primordial, and Rofellos are banned, while Deadeye Navigator, Yawgmoth's Will, and now Metalworker are unbanned. This is why I'm glad my group doesn't use their ridiculous list. Who honestly plays competitive edh in a tournament setting? The whole point of this format was to have fun.
The only cards that should be on the banlist are complete resets that affect life (i.e. Sway of the Stars, Worldfire) and the P9+library.
The List was to be used as an ultimate guideline. It was for so lets say I travel to another area and they did commander I would have a high chance of knowing what was allowed and banned. Yes they may still have house rules but I wouldn't have a chunk of my deck banned. The More abiding to the open list the more open the group to people from other areas gets. The more Off the list you go the more closed off the group you have.
Edit: Not particularly sure if there is a good replacement for braids that does exactly what she does. At least with Rofellos you have other big mana rampers to fall back on.
If you honestly think this is true, you've never played with Rofellos.
Braids is just a bad smokestack that's easily removed...no reason to be banned.
They better not dumb down EDH like they did with standard because of whiners. If they do and my area goes with the official banned list, i'll quit magic again, sadly.

Except you can't guarantee smokestack in your opening hand every game. Having braids as commander means you can essentially guarantee having her out by at least t2, which can quite easily lock the other players out of the game entirely, since they'll never get off of 1 or 2 lands.
She's been banned as commander for a while now. I agree that Braids shouldn't be banned in a deck, though, just as commander. They apparently don't want to have cards that are only banned as the commander anymore for some reason, though, so they just ban her outright. I'm fairly certain I (and others) will just ignore this, though. Having Braids in the deck outside of the command zone is just fine by me, and I don't see anyone I play with having a problem with it, either.
I agree with most of your post, but in a B/X deck you should be able to drop smokestack fairly consistently turn two or three with any combination of tutors and ramp.

Really?
None of those cards are that bad except palinchron. Eh, to each his own, but arbitrarily banning cards like that seems like a dull format to play in.

Not a fan of this at all. We can handle two different lists. I can understand not having either Braids or Rofy as a Commander, but they weren't anywhere near as busted as one of the 99.
So very agreed.
These poor cards are just collateral damage in the dumb-ification of Magic,
which is now happening in more formats than just Standard.
This is unfortunate news for those of us who enjoy the game for its intricacies.
It's a little silly to emphasize intricacy in regards to these two cards as neither of these are intricate. While I don't agree with Braids, Rofellos is certainly an oppressive source of mana.
Furthermore, if your decks really truly relied on Rofellos or Braids and won't win without, consider it a challenge. I'll miss them for how disgusting they were, but I won't miss them really.

not that big of a deal.
whats up with the comment about hardened scales?
just a pet card?
Yeah, didn't get the Hardened Scales comment. I honestly think he just read the card wrong and thought it doubled the number of +1/+1 counters rather than just added 1 extra...
as long as deadeye navigator is still legal, there is still injustice in the world. i have yet to see someone use that card in a way that isn't degenerate.
I play Momir combo too, and I'm kind of glad that I didn't discover Erayo until just now so that I don't have to share your loss. Tutoring her up with Momir and then chaining out three or four cheap UG creatures looks like the best thing ever

Yep, that's exactly how it worked,
and I'm really going to miss it.
It wasn't even *that* powerful-
when people see Erayo hit the board,
they do anything possible to remove her.
With Arcane Laboratory she can be *quite* oppressive (hence banned as a commander),
but I only got that combo working once

We're big kids, we can deal with the inelegance of having banned as commander vs banned entirely, its not necessary to forfeit good cards out of the picture just to treat us like we eat magic cards
I also want to quote this and say that I agree 100%. Nobody could possibly find those two lists confusing.

I think this illustrates that it's important to understand why specific cards are on the ban list; if the reasoning isn't relevant to your playgroup, there's no reason to have the cards banned in your playgroup.
This most recent policy shift (simplifying the ban list) is likely irrelevant to anyone who already has a decent understanding of the game. The ban list is catered to new players, (to help grow EDH's audience) but unlike them, experienced players have the experience to cater the ban list to their own needs.
You know... This list disappoints me. Someone thinks Prime Time should be banned and yet Azami's ok. Or that Tolarian Academy is banned and Gaea's Cradle is fair game. Oh so wonderful.
Not a fan of this at all. We can handle two different lists. I can understand not having either Braids or Rofy as a Commander, but they weren't anywhere near as busted as one of the 99.
Tapping one guy for eight mana over and over again isn't busted?
It's not busted, considering my Marath deck can generate around 50 mana in a single turn quite easily. Or my Ezuri deck that can gain hundreds of life and millions of mana in a single go. Omnath is stronger than Rofellos IMHO, but that's besides the point.

So what your saying is that wizards is going to try to ruin EDH like they did standard by arbitrarily making changes. Great, at least I can ignore most of the EDH changes if I don't like them.

I'm saying that the official ban list likely isn't designed for you. No one's ruining the game - Magic's popularity has actually grown rapidly over the past few years. You must just not be the type of person that Wizards & the RC is looking at when they make changes like this one. You're not the target audience.
