That's a powerful combat trick. Bit pricey on the morph cost though, but it's another Morph card that enables different kinds of trickery, so I'm sure it'll have some applications, even if they end up restricted to Limited.

My Commander decks:
Chandra, Torch of Defiance - Oops! All Chandras.
Prime Speaker Zegana - Draw for Power.
Pir & Toothy - Counterpalooza.
Arcades, the Strategist - Another Brick in the Wall.
Zacama, Primal Calamity - Calamity of Double Mana.
Edgar Markov - Vampires Don't Die.
Child of Alara - Dreamcrusher.
Seriously? Butcher released with over the top power and flavor then we see this paying 8 for a combat trick on a RARE? So inconsistent. I only say this bc limited pools are not going to be balanced, and that morph could have costed two if not three less.
Probably only limited fodder but coming from an aggro background I've come to learn to not underestimate a good costed body with late game upside. It could at some point in its standard life see play in a white based agrro deck as an on curve beater that can help force through a late game alpha strike if you draw it late.
That art looks so herpy derpy and strange. Something about the pose he's in is really funny.
Pales in comparison to the demon that just got spoiled, but not all cards can be powerhouses I guess. Still seems a bit underpowered, Righteous Charge surely isn't a format-warping card, neither in constructed nor limited.
I wanted to open a box of this set so badly because of Fetches and the planeswalkers, but nearly every other rare and mythic spoiled so far has been the type of card that I never want to pull from a pack....so far, if it weren't for fetches, I'd gladly take Theros, Journey or M15 packs over Khans packs any day...
I'm going to assume I don't understand how powerful morph is yet and not think this card should be uncommon.
Assume away. Morph was never a powerful effect except for a handful of playable cards. The two most notable examples are Exalted Angel and Blistering Firecat, neither of which were played for their morph abilities, although it was nice to Astral Slide the Angel and have it come back in face up.

It feels inconsistent to me... because I haven't seen the card that helps reduce the morph cost or pay an alternate to flip your face down cards. I have Ixidor, Reality Sculptor so I don't really worry about the morph costs so long as I got 2U to spend. I am however wanting to see more morph support as at the moment many of the good morph cards like this one here could use some support.

I think the rarity of some of these cards is due to limited.
People forget you can't respond to morph. So if you morph that card, all of your guys effectively get bigger without your opponent being able to respond to it. (aka no bile blight in response to morph :P)

I'm with you. I was all set to buy my first box ever, and now I'm not so sure.
I feel like, with morph, they just need to downcost nearly all morph costs by 1.
It's almost like don't want morph to be playable outside limited, which makes opening those cards in a box really annoying.

This is wrong. You can't respond to turning the creature face up because it's a special action, but you can responded to any triggered abilities, like this one, the trigger from a creature being turned face up.
I don't think it's necessarily fair to compare a wedge card power level to a mono colour rare. The wedges should be more powerful to justify the mana requirements.
That being said their rule about no morph can face another morph in combat, then morph and survive for a morph cost less than 5 does hamper things a little
Five mana is perfectly fair for an uncounterable +2/+2 for your team that doesn't cost you a card and comes on a 2/2 body. Plus you have the option of playing it as Silvercoat Lions if that's more beneficial to you.
It's like he's doing a really crappy impression of a Tribal Forcemage.
I'd disagree. Tribal Forcemage has the cheaper morph cost and gives trample but the Master of Pearls has better stats and his +2/+2 isn't limited to one creature type. I'd say he's about as good as the Tribal Forcemage.

I guess it's still technically a dictate of heliod, so it's probably not quite as bad as it seems at first glance.

Brain Freeze is the coolest card ever printed.
But that will be good in limited.
