It's potentially good with other clans, too. I mean, if you have a 3 power creature with the Jeskai mechanic, you can cast this to WHOOPS counter your spell out of the blue.
I like this quite a bit. The worst part about "unless they pay X" counters is that eventually you get to a point in the game where your opponent can just pay. If by that time you've played a threat though, the drawback goes away.
Also serves to protect your threat.
Exactly. This card will be great for any midrange with blue in it as an early counter for walkers and kill-spells and in the late-game to counter the new wrath. I'm really feeling the Temur midrange this set. The tempo in this card is just fantastic, and I can see it being played in modern tempo alongside goyf. I think it beats out spell pierce in the right deck just because it doesn't fall off late-game.
This is also a very good card for control decks. Drop your finisher and you only need 1 mana open to protect it or prevent elspeth. I remember the good old days of playing JTMS at 5 mana with 1 open to spell pierce. The difference here is that you're getting a creature in play instead of the best planeswalker ever printed, but the principle is the same.
I could also see Master of the Feast on turn 3 (because they wait to draw before killing it, so you can untap) or 4 with this as backup.
MaRo, I have a confession:
When I read the text, I assumed it had gotten rare-washed.
I'm sorry I had little faith.
Forgive me, o great pizza overlord.
For what it's worth, the opposite of evergreen is "deciduous" so I suggest we start using that from now on to refer to shroud, banding, islandhome, etc.
We also got Boon Satyr with Flash, which will also enable Ferocious as instant. And there are also other green ones at 4 CMC range; Polukranos, World Eater or Reaper of the Wilds. This card can easily see play in RUG or BUG decks.
This is a great uncommon, has me more excited than any of the rares or mythics spoiled so far. G/U would have no problem getting out a fatty and using this to prevent mass removal.
So... it's force spike? With upside that will never be relevant in control deck and a condition that makes it almost irrelevant where most of the stupid things in this block seem to be red's access to obscene creatures.
Cool... I guess?
All hail the Mardu overlords and their ability to be the only ones to get good cards.
This seems pretty relevant considering the number of big guys Temur has access too or can get.
Allows me to turn one counter thoughtseize on the play, and if I had dropped a springleaf and ornithopter, I can protect my ensouled thopter turn 2 from removal unconditionally. Love this card!
Saw force spike with upside at first glance. Raged when I saw the noncreature part. RIP my interest in this set. They just keep pouring on the disappointment.

Cold shower time, brah. This is a good card. Slow down and think about where it goes and what it does.
It is rather weird that Temur has an element of control in it, since you'd expect the Sultai to be the control freaks. No one on the Sultai side punches bears for the heck of it: that's a Temur thing.

What? You're not down to play Midrange: The Gathering?

I'm officially proposing we retire the word "insane" from the MtG vocabulary.

This card arguably scales much better than Spell Pierce into the late game.

Early game it can snipe an important spell. Late game it keeps your finisher alive.
Because as we all know control decks never play large creatures. Serra Angel, Aetherling, and all those "finishers" in between are basically myths.
I could also see Master of the Feast on turn 3 (because they wait to draw before killing it, so you can untap) or 4 with this as backup.
This is pretty good, will definitely see play.
Can't fathom people hating on this card.

Tempting whether or not the downside on this is worth the upside of it being able to hit planeswalkers...

aTHE thing post-rotation.Between this, Temur Charm, Savage Knuckleblade, Sagu Mauler and Rattleclaw Mystic (and those are only card from Khans!), Temur does indeed bring some raw power. I can see RUG midrange being a thing.
@Lully: Really? What do you want? Don't be silly. It's not like they were going to print a strictly better Force Spike.

You mean Temur Ascendancy, as Charm is unrevealed currently.
Still, I agree with your overall point.
