I fear I won't have much time to play Magic these days.
I get to watch worlds develop around me.
I get to watch great leaders, terrible oppressors, and trend setters rise and fall.
Limited, Standard, Modern, everything is a different playing field I feel I can observe, but will not actually touch.
I look forward to the stories I will hear.
And more so to the ones I will watch unfold first hand.
Isn't the unknown exciting?
Jeskai utilizes creature with prowess, which by itself makes damage calculation less accurate for your opponent. Not only this card reflects damage back to the source's controller, it also buffs all the prowess creatures, for the cost of 2 CMC. It's not always game breaking but when played right can reserves victory and defeat.
The reason this is rare is that it prevents up to infinity damage for 2 CMC. Captain's Maneuver costs 5 to prevent three damage, 8 to prevent six damage, and 10 to prevent eight damage. This costs 2 to turn a giant Polukranos against its controller, 2 to swing a giant Crater's Claws back at the caster, and 2 to reflect a big Lightning Storm from Modern Ad Nauseum.
It's neat. I like cards like this (even if they aren't very good for constructed) and this actually seems to be one of the best since it doesn't target, is efficiently costed, and can effect creatures or spells. Could be neat sideboard tech against decks that go all in for one attack with big beaters like emrakul (unless the translation's wrong, this doesn't target) or dump all of their mana into a fireball to your face.

Seems incredibly powerful with Satyr Firedancer or against a game ending Crater's Claw. It's like warleader's helix only much much cheaper. You're effectively gaining that much life and dealing damage at the same time. Could definitely see this replace warleader's helix in burn decks.
As I was glancing over the message board topics I read this one too fast and thought it said "Deflecting Facepalm" (thanks to the cards proximity to the word facebook). I've always liked effects like this. I tried real hard to make Divine Deflection work. I had a deck it was okay in and even won the third game of a round with it once, but even I can admit that was just the planet's aligning.
This version might be playable because A)it allows you to choose the source that gets redirected and B)it is chose, not target. So A) you don't have to worry about the opponent getting around it be hitting you for less(such as shocking you in response to Divine Deflection allowing the big dude to hit your face) and B) there are no targets with the spell so it gets around hexproof creatures and hexproof players. It's got potential, we'll see how it plays out.
I feel like, meta depending, this card is a great addition to the sideboard for decks in Standard running red and white. I for one look forward to using this!
Since I still expect Polukranos to be fairly common, this should at least be worth a few sideboard slots. Shame it won't also protect your planeswalkers though

Is buddy's hand falling apart because he tried to hit her? Yikes, I think I see bones flying out.
Not really sure why it is rare, this has often been an uncommon effect, sometimes common.
If the wording in the OP is right, this card can be compared to Honorable Passage (except it requires red mana, can't protect your creatures, and always deals damage to the source) or Acolyte's Reward (except it requires red mana, prevents damage more reliably, and doesn't get to pick where the damage is directed).

Interesting... This quadruples the damage, right? So one swing with a Polukranos would be lethal for the attacker?
That's sort of a thing.

-opponent attacks with a fatty and some little ferocious dudes
-block the little guys with your prowess guys, let the big one through and cast this
-enable your guys to win in combat, take no damage, burn your opponent
-your opponent punches the table in anger and breaks all of their metacarpals
