Intro rares don't have to be good, but man...can they at least be interesting? The only one I like is Ankle Shanker. I really feel like they put 0 effort into the Tusker.
Impersonator is amazing though. I figured they would make a super clone one day.
I actually like the Tusker. It lets you use your outlast guys on your turn, and then untap so they can block.
So what happens if you + Sarkhan then copy him with Impersonator? Permanent indestructible Dragon?
The Clever Impersonator will enter the battlefield as a copy of a fresh Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker. Since you used the original Sarkhan's +1, you'll be able to attack with the original and then use the second ability of the copy, but when the original Sarkhan's +1 effect ends at the end of your turn, you'll have to choose one to bin, since you'll have two Sarkhan planeswalkers.
An UWR 3/4 flier... Cool card, but does this mean no Lightning Angel reprint?
Lightning angel was not a possibility. There are no angels in tarkir.
Also, one of the developers specifically said they didnt like wedge cards like that.
On top of these things, lightning magic has been specifically stated to be a Mardu skill, not Jeskai.
I swear I first read it as Wingbonger...something tells me that "As Long as Wingbonger is paired with another creature, both creatures have weed." wouldn't be as good. Seems solid for limited.

Thats better than what I thought.... I would have guess that you got a copy of the dragon, but it would revert back to the 0/0 clone and die at the end of turn....
Can't wait to get foil "omniclones" for edh and cube, but I'm slightly confused about one thing...
Shouldn't Avalanche Tusker be a loxodon instead of an elephant considering it's standing upright and wielding an axe?
Anyhow, the best I can come up with myself is a game in the top 8 of a PTQ back during Urza block in which we were starting game 3 with time already expired, so the tiebreaker rule was that whoever had more life after 3 turns would win. And I lost to... healing salve.
So, we're getting one more power and toughness, and deathtouch added to Legion Loyalist, AND trample and the unblockable by tokens clause removed for FOUR extra mana? Hard pass. I realize that Legion Loyalist had to have a Batallion trigger, but there were very few times in a deck that ran him that his ability did NOT trigger. If this guy was a 3/4, or costed 1WBR, I think he would have been just fine.

Serious question...is the clone standard playable? For cube, EDH, etc...it's a slam dunk. I know nothing about standard, but is this effect worth it at 4cmc? Surely only a 1-2 of at most?
Yeah, it's a 1-2 of, but I think it's certainly Standard playable. There are just so many possibilities with this card that it's hard not seeing it in Standard. But it relies on the state of the board, so it's not a consistent win condition.
Oh yeah *facepalm* Lol. I think subconsciously I just want them to have their own creature type, or at the very least an additional subtype (ie: human elephant soldier, elephant mutant warrior, etc) since they're clearly more evolved than traditional elephants

Clever Impersonator is going to be an EDH auto include in any deck that runs Blue... I'm going to hate Animar even more now: cope any nonland for UU eh?
Sure. Enchanted Evening + Copy Enchantment, just off the top of my head. There are lots of ways to copy a planeswalker (anything to make them a creature, then all the creature clones work). There just haven't previously been any EASY ways to do it. They all require multiple specific cards. This... this is something different. I'm digging it -- I'll need a foil and one additional for every EDH deck I've got that runs blue.

Crater's Claws is fairly strong but I'm disappointed. Why? Because the only burn spell we've gotten so far is basically an off-color green one.
Here's how it scales (with Ferocious): R = sorcery speed Shock 1R = sorcery speed Lightning Strike 2R = sorcery speed Flame Javelin 3R = Lava Axe -R 4R = 6 damage 5R = 7 damage ...and so on...
That just doesn't jive with red decks. GRx has the mana and creatures sufficient to enable this card. Even so this is a rough follow up to an End Hostilities/board sweep. A sorcery speed Blaze isn't good enough for Standard. Bring on the real burn spells!!!
A bit disappointed that Ankle Shanker isn't a 3/3, but eh, what are you going to do, it's still good.
I will say that I was furious when I saw the clone was Mythic. And then I saw that it said nonland permanent and not creature. This is the first time I've ever been excited for a clone.

I would compare 2R to a sorcery speed Char without the 2 damage to self drawback before comparing it to Flame Javelin. When spending only R on javelin, the total cost is 4R. So yes. In mono R, it's not nearly as good as flame javelin. But i can definitely see this in a GRx Monsters deck as a potential finisher.
You would have to bin one of the Sarkhans immediately, he becomes a legendary dragon creature.
This is incorrect. The original Sarkhan is a legendary dragon creature named Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker, but the clone enters as a planeswalker version of Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker, and since one is a legendary creature and the other is a planeswalker, there's no rules issues with having them both around until the effect of the original wears off at the end of the turn.

You have to keep in mind that part of what you're gaining here is the flexibility to cast it at whatever cost you want (or can) rather than just having a static amount of damage available.
Oh, I understand you gain flexibility with X spells, I've played them many times before, but for red decks that flexibility is not as important as the mana-to-damage ratio, especially considering you need to combo this with big creatures which red doesn't usually have by itself. I tried to make it clear that the main idea of my post was that this is not a "red" spell, it's more of a green one with a R symbol.
And, of course, Blaze itself is not playable in Standard...

Blue has a new staple for EDH got to love it. Can't wait for slap it into my Arcum, Damia, Rifiq Decks who dosen't like more Artifacts, Creatures, or Swords
