I'm looking at this card the same way I looked at Dragonshift.
And I'm guessing it will see as much play.
hint: that would be close to zero in constructed.
Not saying you're wrong to say this card won't see ton of competitive play (if any), but to be fair there is a huge difference between 6 mana and 7 mana. There are basically three ranges of mana cost in magic.
1-3 : cheap spells, these can be played in the 2nd turn depending on the deck and have a small to medium impact on the game.
4-6 : expensive spells, these aren't typically played before turn 4, but it can happen under the right circumstance. resolving one of these spells helps immensely in winning the game and require a swift answer.
7 + : these are usually cheated into play or are in decks ramping heavily (cabal coffers, eldrazi ramp, gauntlet of power)
Also of note, plenty of deck will reach 5 to 6 mana by turn 5 and 6 respectively through normal land drops. It is considerably less frequent that you easily (meaning without missing land drops) reach 7 mana. So yeah.. the difference between 6 and 7 is huge, and this gap is often reflected on cards; 7cmc + creatures are usually much more game-changing than 6 or less CMC. Think of Elesh Norn, Iona, Griseldad, Tidespout Tyrant, Angel of Serenity and how much superior they are (in their effect, not absolute power level) to the likes of Thragtusk, the Titans, the Souls and Resto Angel.
I get that, I do. But UWR is a tempo color combo, and what tempo deck is seriously going to want a 6 mana card that isn't a bomb by itself? (Flying Crane requires you to have attacking creatures that won't be removed or blocked).
Just consider me a critic of this card. Regardless of its cost, it's another Dragonshift for me. Good in limited, bad in constructed.

Im going to splash white (bound to have a caryatid in play) in my Temur deck for this as my finisher. Just love this, dont care if people call it winmore. In Temur this can be turn 4-5 cast. Jussayin
Another card that accurately describes me in life.
Also, I doubt this will be actually playable outside of limited (where it isn't always good either) but I'll make some sweet asskicking 5 color human deck with this as the finisher.

I don't understand why people hate this card so much. It distracts the timmies during prerelease time so you can trade for the actual good cards, and you can rack up a ton of free wins from players using it for the first couple of weeks.
If there weren't any cards like Stormbreath Dragon and Elspeth, Sun's Champion, you know what the good cards would be? Cards like Flying Crane Technique.

Getting upset over Flying Crane Technique not being constructed playable is equivalent to being mad that Kung-Fu Hustle wasn't a serious martial arts movie; it was never meant to be.

I really do predict this to be our worst rare in set award winner. I'd be happier opening a jar of eyeballs, so I think anything worse is highly unlikely. This card wont just have zero constructed potential, but not be significantly better than a mass of ghouls in a draft.
While I agree it's way too early to call the set, I think he's talking about the power level, not the flavor. Also, the only thing I see people in agreement on is the Fetchlands. The argument "How can this be a bad set? It has fetchlands!" is not a good argument.

unless you expect the commons to warp the format, this is the power level of the cards for the set
Boros Reckoner was one of the last revealed cards in GTC (not even getting a preview article), and he single-handedly raised the set's power level to respectable heights.
Actually, GTC had a respectable power level, and that isn't due to just Boros Reckoner. You're forgetting Domri and Nightveil Specter, Foundry Street Denizen, Obzedat, Boros Charm. And they're more impactful than what Theros has given us. And don't forget the shocks.
And yet half of those were evaluated as crap/mediocre even after the set was fully spoiled. So not only is it insane to judge a sets power level on 78 cards, it's somewhat silly to judge it even after it's fully spoiled.
Well, it doesn't have a disruptable body and gives the rest of your dudes evasion, though Aurelia herself is six damage. With setup it's certainly better, though I tend to give a lot of significance to "needs setup" when evaluating cards.
This is a cute win-more trick that will be great for trading off at preorder prices to the casuals who eat this stuff up. I'll give it points for being an instant though.

With the way removal is going having no creatures on the board is likely to be a situation you find yourself in when you have almost lost so yes, it isn't going to get you back into a game you've likely already lost
I also agree that Aetherling and Elsepth 3.0 are better finishers but this is nothing to scoff at: 6 isn't that much nowadays, mana fixing with the fetches shouldn't be too hard, instant speed means it can be used defensively, it's in great colours to either protect your board with white and blue and red can clear the way for your flyers or burn the opponents dome after you take a big chunk of his life away. This card is pretty good; I did say insane finisher and I will admit it isn't quite that but it's a solid spell that does require a few hoops.
Good enough for Standard? I think it could get there but it's a bit of stretch. I just think that calling it unplayable by virtue of it's CMC is ridiculous.
I'd argue it needs less set-up than Aurelia. Both need a number of able bodies in the ground to be effective (though Aurelia indeed adds one (relatively small) body to it). However, a decent blocker will greatly reduce the effectiveness of you attack, being able to block and potentially kill up to two of your creatures. In other words, your Aurelia set-up needs either a lack of blockers (which you cannot control) or added means of deal with them. This card literally flies over those issues. This is not to mention that double strike is generally better than two attacks because it grants first strike.

Unless you're playing EDH I'd say six damage on her own is pretty good, and she's no less evasive than creatures affected by Flying Crane Technique. Even the double strike doesn't solve many blocking problems if it doesn't add a power boost (even True Conviction has fallen short of creating the coveted "alpha strike" as double-striking weenies are still just weenies; at least it gives you lots of life, which Flying Crane doesn't do).

I'm just saying giving all your creatures flying may not be worth the reliability of comparable cards like Aurelia, though as I said before I like that this doesn't have a disruptable body.
