All this needs is a good bounce and you're generating insane value every turn.
Wut??
I'd rather go with Angelic accord shenaningans than trying to bounce a 5-drop in standard. Accord is way easier and less mana intense to trigger each turn and harder to remove.
Seems solid, 6 power in the air split over two bodies that can survive all red removal (mortars is gone) is pretty good. The lifegain should be helpful but is worse than if they just had lifelink. Could see play, but lack of haste means that red still has the better aggro 5-drops.

I imagine if you're monowhite Spear of Heliod makes this much better. And Ajani Steadfast can easily find his way into any deck playing white post rotation.
Maybe I'll pick em up on the cheap and then when people start playing em' I'll just laugh because they make my Dragons look that much better.
It would have to be a copy that only had the life gain effect, because if it had raid, I'm pretty sure you would just end up getting infinite 3/4 fliers any time you cast it with raid triggered. However, if you're saying that the token should have been a 3/4 flier with the lifegain trigger... I might agree. It would definitely feel a lot more mythic, and make deciding which of the two to remove much more difficult, but I worry that the life gain would just get entirely out of hand if it was available on both of the birds....
Even though it is such a lackluster mythic, it's mythic for a reason. It would be pretty bonkers if he was a rare that would be easier to pull in a limited format. I wouldn't want to play at a draft table if two or three of these guys were pulled.
But you're okay with playing against two or three Ankle Shankers?
They didn't do this for Limited,
or if they did, it was very ill-conceived.
I think in limited 3WW is easy to archive than 2RWB ... and even soo 6 power evasion is half better than 3 power that gives situational evasion. And the Roc is more resistent to removal.
If we got some blink effects to go with it, maybe it would fit in a Jeskai build. At mythic it doesn't really effect limited much, which is a shame because that's where it really shines. I think it would be just fine at rare, even with the life gain.
Would probably be too broken in limited (at least as mono white) to be rare. And I personally prefer good "boring" mythics (like Voice and this) over the either too expensive or less-impacting mythics like Lord of the Void and Champion of Stray Souls. Not to mention the fringe not-playable-in-limited mythics (Worst Fears).
This will probably be nuts in limited, might be good in some standard deck (in an Elspeth Sorin token shell perhaps), but there is also at least one modern deck it could fit into. Lets see, it needs a deck with lots of attackers for raid and the lifegain ability to matter, the creatures should be resillent enough to consistently enable raid, and the deck should be more grindy than pure aggressive, being able to stall the ground consistently, have other card that favor the lifegain (hi there Archangel of Thune), some ways to tutor and/or ramp this out earlier, and a way to blink it reliably would be good too. Did I just describe Angel Pod? (And some versions run 3 resto angels...) This Roc adds more power to win the flying race or survive untill you get the Angel-Feeder combo running, blocks most flyers in the format without dying, combos with Restoration Angel and can be podded into after attacking with resto/Redcap, dodges Lightning Bolt, gives value against other spot removal, and boardwipes are not that common in modern... Probably still not good enough for the deck, but it could be funny to try it out at least!
For what it's worth no one played Stangg. But no one played brainstorm either so yaknow things change.
I think the main thing is, contrary to what KillerDice says it's really tough to activate raid. You have to have dudes on the table already, they can't have summoning sickness, and it will likely cause you to make unfavourable attacks just to activate it. So this is generally going to end up as a 3/4 flyer for 5 or 2 3/4/ fliers for 5+sac a creature.
To state the obvious, this card is a windmill slam in draft. 6 flying power on two bodies with some lifegain to top it off for just 5 mana? Yes please
I also think it's being underestimated for constructed. It looks underwhelming at first, but a solid flier that has semi-immunity to spot removal with a relevant second ability is not a bad curve topper.
This card is uber bad for mythic. Mythic was made to separate the Kokusho, the Evening Star from the Sepulchral Primordial. If it was rare I wouldn't mind so much, however it's mythic. If this isn't a sign on the power level of mythics going down than I don't know what is. Broodmate dragon is better because it doesn't require a trigger to activate. Stangg himself makes a 3/4 token with no additional requirement. This card is one mana less at a higher rarity and with 3 power rather than 4. So this is a terrible card. Mono white doesn't need this because no one plays mono white in modern or legacy. This will not see play in RW aggro because for 5 mana you can cast Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker. Thats right both Sarkhan and the Wingmate Roc have the same cmc and rarity. It's almost like they are equally good right?
Stangg? This card is so much better than Stangg that it's not even funny. It's at least comparable to Broodmate Dragon, but they're very different cards.
I'd also say this card is equally good compared to Sarkhan, if not better. I'd also call it nearly as good as Archangel of Thune, since it's arguably superior by itself just less abusable. That's all assuming you can reliably activate raid, but since you're probably playing tokens if you're running this card, I don't see that being a problem
Also mono-white isn't a thing in standard or modern. Mono red yes but not white. So I don't know where people are getting this idea that people play mono-white in high level tournements.
A) Who knows what's going to be good in the new standard yet?
B) Why are you assuming this card can only be played in mono-white?
Anyone suggesting this card should be rare clearly doesn't play limited. I think the odds are that no one in this thread will ever beat this card in limited unless they're so far ahead that no card ever printed would win their opponent the game. Two very good blockers, six evasive power, lifegain to bounce you back if you can survive one more turn without getting burned out and absurdly costly to remove. I see no reason why it won't see play in Standard. The token is the kind of immediate value people miss from the Titans and are living without with things like Archangel, Polukranos and Desecration Demon.
That's a very sweet mythic card, it may not "feel" too mythic but the power level is definitely there. Raid is an easy condition to meet particularly in white the colour of weenies and tokens so this will almost always be 2 3/4 flyers for 3WW (already a good deal) and that triggered life gain ability is a very nice add on that in weenie horde/token horde decks could gain you huge amounts of life.

This was my thoughts on the Bird too. Building a cube and striving to always better enjoy the limited enviornment. This card is practically pure upside, if not just really fun. It deserves it's rarity it feels, and just seems plain sweet.
Is it strange to anyone else that the white mythic is centered in Mardu's (Red Primary) ability? While on the other hand, See the Unseen is a Temur card, centered in Green, and is Green. I wonder what the mythic cycle will be like.
This is really good and has a chance to be a Standard/Modern staple.
Standard sure, modern no. Compare this to real modern five drops like Baneslayer Angel.
The best comparison is to Broodmate Dragon, which is a perfectly good card from a stronger standard and which it matches up quite reasonably to. Cant be played on empty board and giving 3/4s instead of 4/4s (which is an advantage with Elspeth) is a pretty fair trade-off for 1 less mana and 2 fewer colors. Raid instead of a straight ETB is fine, it just prevents it from being used as a control finisher the way Archangel of Thune was.

In 5 hours or so.
I like the card, but probably at rare would do fine... it's not more Mythic than Kalonian Twingrove, more powerful yes, but gives the same feel.
Yes, I was used to see the spoilers in the morning here in Spain, now I can check them at 5pm, I suppose that you'll see them at 7pm or 8pm in Russia.
Technically not all. Double Stoke the Flames is a possibility.
