Also, I thought they said Sorin was only part W on Innistrad?
What happened to that?
Yeah I remember them saying that back then but one could argue that the W in him is showing his caring side. He cared for his home world and now he he was looking for an old friend to help him save the multiverse.
They set this up really good in the flavor text of Bitter Revelations "Here you lie then, Ugin. The corpses of worlds will join you in the tombs." Showing his concern for the whole multiverse as his hopes of sealing the eldrazi back fades.

Thanks to DarkNightCavalier from Heroes of the Plane Studios for this sick Signature.
I only like him for his ultimate. Other than that, he feels like a worse version of the other Sorin that we already saw in Innistrad.
Isn't he stronger that sorin, lord of innistrad in Modern tokens?
I mean i would rather be sending in +1 lifelink lingering souls tokens in or producing 3/3 flying vampires with intangible virtue on the battlefield.
Th old one can immediatly make you an emblem which will buff your tokens for the entire game... The only truely unremovable anthem like effect you can get. EDIT: though I agree that this one makes far more usefull tokens.
The +1 is until your next turn. Hello, vigilant, lifelinking Brimaz, King of Oreskos. -2 is alright, and the -6 can be pretty powerful once it gets going.
So, so reminiscent of Sorin LOI though, casting cost and all.

I do play modern B/W tokens. When you emblem with old B/W sorin he goes down to 1 loyalty. When you +1 with this B/W walker hes at 5 and you gain a massive life point swing. The following turns they both make tokens but only the new sorin is producing 2/2 flyers, which is highly relevant in token decks.
I play that deck as well And I just recently added a Sorin to it
That said - I don't have that much experience with him, yet, but most of the time I needed him for the unremovable anthem - Wear // Tear seem to be everywhere. Thus I do mostly have more trouble sticking an anthem, than getting tokens on the field. I know that those fliers are much better than the old Sorins tokens and I'll certainly test this version in the deck, but currently I am in favour of the Lord of Innistrad.
The fact of his +1 lasting until your next turn should be quite relevant. Not to mention, that ultimate, while not game-winning by itself, is achievable after only three turns and will provide enough incremental advantage over time that it is certainly relevant.
Yep, Don't think BW Tokens is that interested in this, but the lifelink from the +1 ability lasts for two turns so that can be great in WB Soul Sisters.
Sorin is busted in the right deck. Let's say you decide to play a B/W deck with 8-1 drops, 8-2 drops, Athreos (B/W God), Sorin and whatever else. Your opponent will automatically have to kill your creatures, but won't end up being able to do it profitable. Meanwhile, your opponent also has to kill your Sorin, which will generally be attempted with creatures. However, they have almost no chance of sticking enough creatures to kill Sorin against a B/W deck that has lots of removal. The aggro axis combined with the very good support plus independant win condition in Sorin will make it hard to combat by going under, going over, or controlling it. Yuck!

He looks underwhelming at first, but to me he seems like a more versatile Whip of Erebos for a deck that doesn't care about the reanimation aspect, with a bit of Spear of Heliod pump thrown in. I think he'll be at home in decks that care about lifegain while still playing a fair bit of creatures. Seems like a great card for Abzan, and maybe in the sideboard for a Mardu aggro deck to pump and win races.
At first I was comparing his -2 to Xenagos' 0 and thinking "Why does the other 4 mana planeswalker get free tokens while Sorin has to pay 2 loyalty?" But Sorin seems to be played more for his +1. His -2 is backup, meant to be used when you don't have a board, or desperately need more of one for whatever reason. And like many folks have mentioned, his effect is "until your next turn" so it has good synergy well with cards like Brimaz and maybe Ivorytusk Fortress.
