Love how the Icefeather Aven is worse than Echo Tracer. Why? Cause wizard tribal is better than shaman tribal and I don't need to run two colours for echo. I mean come on, the aven requires two colours to flip. If it was just then I would be okay with it.
Just noticed that it can fly thanks to being green. Not something you see every day.

Abzan Guide is terrible. 6 mana for a 4/4 lifelink? Seraph of Dawn for 4 cmc is a 2/4 with flying and lifelink. The morph actually doesn't make her cheaper. She is a terrible common. On the subject of Abzan, their mechanic is very slow and makes no sense in their defensive nature. The player leaves himself wide open to attack just so some of his creatures get a counter. If this was an instant ability it would have been great. Sadly it's not and so is a waste of potential.
We have already been showed two delve cards and they are both terribly over costed. Tombstalker is a 5/5 flying demon for 8 mana. For 8 mana your expecting me to want a 3/5 death touch zombie? I'd rather save my graveyard for something worth more.
Mardu Warshrieker is just a worse Coal Stoker. It should have been like Priest of Urabrask in that it gives you back the mana you spent on it in different colours. It's a harder to cast Coal Stoker, as it requires you attack with another creature.
To me yes this set has the fetches and is wedge themed but that alone won't save it if it is weaker than Theros. Ok I am exaggerating, everyone is going to think this set is better than RTR just cause they printed 5 cards in it. But a few of the players who don't care for fetches will be upset. Yes some of the revealed rares were interesting. However a hand full of silver coins in a vault filled with paper will not entice me to break into it.
Icefather (I'm calling it that now forever): The power in the card is a 2 mana 2/2 flier. It's extremely nice for a bit of early aggro. The morph is nice late game. It's not a million times worse because it's a shaman.
Abzan Guide is just a common. It's not too good, but the people trying to compare it to mythics can stop. It don't work like that.
Delve: People liked Tombstalker. People are now going to see just how bad delve really is. It's not a good mechanic, honestly, and I doubt it ever will be except for that one card.
Mardu Warshrieker: It's better than Coal Stoker in Standard by a long shot. When you cast it, you get 3 mana back and it's for each Mardu color. It helps make sure anything you could cast in their colors can be cast.
Going that this set is the worst set ever over a few commons is just the worst thing about the MTGS community. Seeing everyone calling KTK bad over these commons is like saying Innistrad was awful and then just showing Abbey Griffin and Graveyard Shovel. Fetches are cool. New Sarkhan is cool. Crackling Doom, Temur Ascendancy, Sultai Charm, and Skullhunter are cool. Wait until more rares are revealed before you try to exaggerate how bad KTK is.
I was hoping delve somehow is another just returning mechanic and not a sultai thing. Oh well. I seriously doubt, seeing as other clans don't care about filling the graveyard and, hence, there will be not much space for enablers, it will be manageable in limited, so the hopes of running those at prerelease are sinking.
Temur is another thing altogether. Woo! bear punch! And that's second returning clan mechanics - easier to remember in one hand, feels quite lazy in another.

To be fair, we are leaving a format that used Burning-Tree Emissary, which made red and green decks kinda nuts. Seems like this is Wizard's way of trying to avoid that same power level. And even so, I still think its a decent card for RBW, as it helps with the mana-fixing and still provides that aggressiveness.
Delve would've been awesome with deadbridge chant. though maybe we'll see some delve X spell that'll be worthwhile, along with some self-milling stuff. as for Temur...Agreed. It's lazy.

So Temur is just mini-Naya? That's cool, and meh at the same time. That said, Ferocity is probably going to be easier to trigger than Naya, and i hope we at least get a Spellbreaker Behemoth
as for delve... I know we've only seen like 2 cards but i don't like how it's turning out so far, especially shambling attendants. 8 mana for a 3/5? I know it's a common but considering cards like Logic Knot, i figured Delve would be on good cards that became better late game, not awful cards that get passable late game. Shambling Attentdants is to me.. how do i put it... Parasitic? Like, no one should run this at all unless you alread packed your pool/deck with grave dumping which risks distracting from whatever else the deck would need, where gards like this should complement it. I dunno, i'm still excited for Delve and am hoping for a Logic Knot reprint but Shambling Attendants seems just so bad.
as for the morph overlay, that's pretty cool looking. and i know that image was already shown at SDCC but i still gotta ask: if Morph is supposed to be disguising power, why is the disguise this big flaming ball of "NOTICE ME"?
also, seeing the GU aven gives me more hope for simic... yeah, it's just one card and it's not like kiora's follower made super huge waves but i can dream lol
I thought at first that the Temur mechanic was lazy, but the more I think about it my plans of a Temur midrange with Ascendency and Polukranos are falling into place.
I'm really hoping for some cheaper Delve cards. Besides Temur, I've been hopeful for some cool Mardu and Sultai cards. Mardu's delivering so far, but besides the charm and Delve itself, Sultai's not doing too good. I know there's only been like three cards spoiled for them, but I've seen a few cards for all the other Clans I like as opposed to just the charm from them. Still holding out hope though.
As for the rest, looks like solid limited cards, especially Icefeather Aven. Plus, I gotta love that lens.
What bugs me right now is that this would have been a great opportunity for them to showcase some Jeskai Non-Creature spells. (What sort of spells will you be playing to boost your Jeskai forces? Well bam, here's an example).
Because right now Jeskai pretty much looks like it wants to shape up kind of like American Control with no more than 10-12 creatures in order to get the best bang for it's buck. (24 lands, 10 creatures, 26 "other" spells) and in another spoiler we've already seen the ideal Jeskai finisher in a 3/3 doublestrike creature for 3RR (side note: it seems weird that the blue wedge's best finisher is one of their red creatures). But rather than showing the Sultai Charm for the new templating, why not show the Jeskai Charm. Based on the numbers Jeskai is really going to be all about how playable the instants are, as you want most of those 26 Other Cards to be instants, to get the best bang for the buck.
As it is right now we have 2 artifacts and a PW, neither artifact is really super playable and while the PW is quite playable it's red, so right now Jeskai could be mono-red and still work quite well.
May we please see some spells to make Jeskai exciting in Block/Draft?

We already know that Jeskai Charm is going to be a thing, and that's the only way to fit a Jeskai non-creature into this article (there's no way to put Prowess or Morph on one, after all). You want the article to serve a purpose it was never supposed to.
That's probably fair to a point; it was more a comment about the spoiler strategy overall up till now.
I don't believe there's any less inherent "thingness" about Sultai charm than anything we would get out of Jeskai charm, so I don't see any reason why it couldn't have been the example of the new templating. Sultai Charm is definitely a thing.

Hear, hear! So true. Don't be so negative.
I think the lens could see some play. Its actually pretty decent. It allows you to plan far, FAR ahead.
How? It has the same cmc, the same cmc to morph and flip it. The only difference is it has flying. If your going to make me play two colours to flip it, I want something more than just flying. Echo tracer works with Nameless One and Supreme Inquisitor. If your going to remove one of the things that made echo tracer good then at least give it something else! Woolly Thoctar was 3 mana, Fire Elemental was 5. If you raise the difficulty in casting something than you need to make it stronger. I can run echo tracer mono-blue, I can't run this common in mono-blue. It's not better than echo-tracer. It's just different. It's about as better than echo tracer as Judge's Familiar is than Cursecatcher.
EDIT: @quizzlemanzzle, You forgot Leonin Skyhunter and Kor Aeronaut. Just because it's rare doesn't mean its amazing.
The Aven is 2 mana to get out. If you can have a flying bear like that on turn 2....isn't that better than an Echo Tracer? Sure, morph wise you can again try to make the argument but having the extra evasion and defensive capabilities that come with flying make the Aven a much better card in limited. Also, it's been a decade since the whole "Classes matter" thing was around. Echo Tracer would NOT be as good in our standard. I'm not a modern player so I can't say anything about playability there for either of them
I look forward to reading the article that explains the development of the ferocious mechanic. I won't be surprised if they originally had some sort of ramp related ability and switched it. It seems lazy since Naya had power 5 or more but I am optimistic about seeing the rest of the Temur arsenal.

It does feel like a mechanic they scrambled to make last minute, along the lines of Unleash.
Outlast : this just screams development had issues, it would be an ok mechanic if it wasn't at sorcery speed. I guess its decent in constructed.
Prowess : probably the nicest mechanic, might see tournament play depending on what cantrips there are.
Delve : Not impressed by what I have seen so far , but considering dredge was powerful, I wouldn't be surprised if this had a few very good spiky cards.
Raid: a nice mechanic, simply, again will likely see tournament play depending on what other cards there are.
ferocious: boring
I have to say I am not in awe of these mechanics, Return to Ravnica had some very cool ones like overload or populate. These just seem to be very boring. Hopefully Monday will give some decent cards with the mechanics else the most exciting thing in this set is sadly the fetch lands.

I'm starting to understand Outlast more now that we see there is at least one common that acts as a "lord" for your creatures with counters. The "mechanic" isn't just the Outlast ability but synergy between your creatures and ways to give them counters, which makes perfect sense given the Abzan's focus on community and family.
