I wrote about them getting reprinted months ago and nobody listened, or just said I was crazy. Just like they did when I said foil Force of Will was going to happen too.
Now, I'm not huge on the finance side, but will the foils behave like Thoughtseize and Mutavault? I have the original foil versions from Onslaught (I'm one of the few vintage players left) and as that's the only old frame version (the judge versions were new frame) I'm assuming that they'll maintain their high price? At least in the long run, right?
Didnt Wizards say they've decided that dual land cycles in blocks will now be all 10 pairings? I feel like I read that back in some article talking about the scrylands.
Zendikar lands might take a hit just from people speculating on that
Am I the only one whos not that excited about fetches? Sure they are great and all, but does modern really need this?
It actually does. Do you know how hard it is to run a 3 color deck with Cryptic Command and only 4 on-color fetches, which are often not even the best ones for the deck? That changes now.
When the only on color fetch you have doesn't grab blue, it's a hell of a time to get CC without going to at least 16.
Agreed. Now that these are legal, my push for Faeries to become Esper for the Gifts Ungiven/Unburial Rites combo in the sideboard might get some more support.
Huh, the only post I ever made in the UB Fae thread was about something similar. I'd love to see something like that take off.
As someone who owns a playset of onslaught block fetchlands - damnit. My collection just got a whole lot less valuable/impressive.
As someone who owns all 10 fetches, and a playset of each...
I wont complain. I'm not complaining. If it drops to 12 bucks, I'll still be happy. People can play modern now. Thats not a bad thing. People can Play even legacy... kinda. Thats not a bad thing. EDH got better. thats not a bad thing.
You didnt lose money. You have the cards, dont need to trade or open for them, and can play it the minute its legal, plus you had it for X years. Big whoop.

It really is good. It solves every problematic matchup that the deck has.
So is this an announcement that should make me trade/sell my 4 Scalding Tarns and 3 Arid Mesas or will those still hold value? What do people think the ONS fetches will be price wise? I think $30 initially but once people realize that they aren't that good without duals, down to like $15? Unless Temur's mechanic in the article tomorrow is a version of landfall?
They're great in Modern, though, so prices for the original printings shouldn't drop by much more than half what they are now, like Thoughtseize's Lorwyn printing or even the shocklands' original printings. The new printings should fall to about 2/3 or half of the old printings' prices, following the model set by those cards.

What do we all think this will drive those ONS fetches down to? 12-18?
For some of them I would think so; my guess is Strand and Delta old artwork will still fetch low $20s.
The Ravnica lands dropped to the $10-$15 range, but that's a newer old set than Onslaught, so they may retain more of their value. Plus, some people just have a hard on for the older border.
Shocklands also have much lower demand that fetches. Fetches are used in Legacy and are used in higher numbers in the decks that play them. Onslaught Delta and Strand will probably stay above $40.

I don't feel your pain. I was stopped from getting the deck of my dreams in Modern because of the fetchlands price spike. I can now make that deck. You should be ashamed of yourself for caring more about your own profits than about the good of Magic as a whole.
Didn't someone say that just KTK was going to be a wedge set through and through and the other 2 sets in KTK block will have wedge elements? Or am I wrong and all 3 sets will be completely wedge based. If just KTK set is wedges, then I don't think they'd reprint enemy fetch lands. If the whole block has a wedge core, I feel like they will almost certainly reprint enemy fetch lands.

They are going to reprint the whole thing. They don't do 5-card land cycles in a block anymore.

You made some convincing arguments, but at the end of the day, to quote Loki: "you are but words."
I like your writing, but c'mon man, you're talking like people should have stood up and said "David Leavitt said fetches are getting reprinted? Then it's guaranteed; no buying Onslaught fetches for me!"
Not trying to offend here, just saying that the expectation seems... off.

Fetchlands are relevant in every format, inclduing Legacy, Modern, Cube, and Commander. People are very willing to pimp out their decks in those formats, and Foil originals will be about as pimp as you get, aside from Foil Original Japanese or Russian.
They'll likely reprint enemies in the spring set due to doing just complete cycles of lands in blocks now to make manafixing more fair to deckbuilders/you don't just build decks with the color combinations of the available duals.
As for where onslaught fetches end up value wise? I don't even care. Too many have been signed by Rob Alexander anyways and they are easier to counterfeit than the new ones with the holo stamp. Probably end up around 30ish for blues and 20 for non blues. The art on the new ones is really nice as well.

"Yawgmoth," Freyalise whispered as she set the bomb, "now you will pay for your treachery."
Well before this thread devolves into speculator shaming and useless debate I noticed a few posters mentioned Zendikar fetch reprints were also confirmed for the block. Where is this information?
It's from a while back. Starting with Theros, Wizards said they would print full 10 land dual cycles in every block so that block constructed can support multicolor decks.
The lowest fetches will drop is 20. Modern, legacy, standard, edh, vintage. All formats sans pops plays fetches. It really depends on drafters and redeamers more than box openers.

This is news to me. As far as I know. Painlands -> enemy fixing. Fetch-> ally fixing. 10 lands covered in all.
Despite the massive use of fetchlands. These should never command price tags anywhere near where they got to. Glad WotC is including them in a huge set. Now everyone can play the decks they want to play....wait, that's not right. You still need 800 for Goyfs and 350 for Bobs, etc.

I would argue that even if it wasn't confirmed, there was a statement made about "no more half cycles" when the Temples were printed. That could be taken to mean they will use the other Large expansion at the end of the block for the Zen fetches to be reprinted as well.

ALLY FETCHES!?
AS IN THE OLD ONES??
That's it. preordering a box right now! or... tomorrow.
But seriously, they give us a wedge set and now these babes? what's next??
I feel like they almost have to reprint the Zendikar ones just because as it stands, each wedge only has access to one fetch land that can get 2 on color lands. It wouldn't make sense in a wedge block NOT to have the Zendikar ones.
I wrote about them getting reprinted months ago and nobody listened, or just said I was crazy. Just like they did when I said foil Force of Will was going to happen too.

Not, to be the bearer of bad news, but plenty of my friends including myself predicted the Onslaught Fetches would be the first to show up if we saw fetch lands. My friend actually said they would show up in this set specifically just 1 month ago. Predicting fetchlands were coming was not that outlandish especially since we haven't seen these fetchlands in print since 2002. So 12 years waiting for a single reprint in a regular set is a hell of a long time.

I clearly remember Wizards saying that they will no longer print half-cycles of dual lands in Standard.

Oh stop complaining. Now people can at least play decks in Modern that don't use Goyf, Bob, Liliana, or Cryptic Command for relatively low amounts of money.

Maybe? Id be very... very ok with that, as it means Id get a ton more zoo followers, domain or otherwise, so thats fine. But I still got to wear my scepticals here. I mean, we have 10 "duals" in standard. 5 fetches, ally, and 5 duals, enemies.

I disagree.
Tell you what Lantern: let's make a bet. Since I think Delta may stay a little higher than the rest, I'll bet you that by January, a KtK Flooded Strand could be had on TCGPlayer for $10 +/- $2. If I'm right, you buy me two Strands and ship them to me. If you're right and they're $20 +/- $3, I'll buy one for you and ship it to you. Values in the middle are a draw; neither pays up.
