I am so, so excited. As someone who owns near a set of all the Onslaught fetches, I do not care. I am happy that people get to play the game they love to play, and that I get to actually enjoy that game with them
You know, every time something like this happens, there's always somebody like you who pops on, claiming to own all the reprinted cards and be happy they were reprinted. I'm not buying it, are you a WotC plant? I didn't know anybody happy their Legends cards were turned into dollar rares in 1995, and I don't believe anybody who owned ONS fetches would actually be happy to lose hundreds of dollars unless they were just so rich it didn't matter.
I was trying to buy paper Moxen to play a hatebears deck in GenCon next fall, I could have sold the Strands I wasn't using, or my MTGO Deltas, and gotten a huge part of the way towards another Mox. Now that's trashed.
God bless the reserved list. I should have done this last year, but I'm damn sure doing it now, I'm getting rid of anything with any value I possibly can to move into reserved list rares from older sets.
Feel free, the market will be ok with you selling off your things.
I know it might be hard, but realize that 99.9% of the whole magic community is happy about this move. Even "Plants like me" that have been playing for years and do own a set of all the fetches.

The problem with this is, some people don't care because they got their Onslaught fetches for ~$15. So if someone was selling yeah they lost out but if they are planning on keeping them, then they really don't care.
People complaining about their collection's diminishing value is like complaining as you're being swept away in a flood following your refusal to evacuate: you had every reason to believe this was going to happen. In the end, the old financial adage rings true: all investments come with the risk of loss, and Wizards is under no obligation to prevent an advancement of the game just to protect your financial decisions (which is why I resent the Reserved List).
And let's face it: you ultimately just don't like the idea of your cards being less valuable, as you never had any serious plans to sell them in the first place. Unless they got reprinted. So. Yeah. I don't get you.

yea, we're all WoTC plants. Now, I didn't own full 4s of all the ONS lands (Sold up many moons ago on those) but still have two sets of each. Was about to sell 'em. Sure, I'd rather have sold them, but, seriously, this was going to happen sooner rather than later.
Also, I own or have owned almost all the power. I'd be much happier if they reprinted them, even though it would reduce the theoretical value of my "holdings" by well over a grand. Same with original duals. I'd rather have people to play than pretty cardboard.
Or you could be an unfortunate like me who sold his off a year or so after they rotated out of Standard and hadn't really gained much value. The idea of being able to buy my way into a new play set at a cost that was about as much as I made on my old ones it totally awesome!
He didn't basically say anything. He said they like the idea of releasing dual lands in blocks of ten. That does not eliminate the possibility of that block of 2 dual lands being comprised of 2 different dual land cycles. What people thought was implied isn't the fault of WotC.
He said that WotC was caught off guard by the price spike in ZEN fetchlands, and not to expect anything soon on that front. I guess that was *technically* correct, unless they reprint those later in the set, but that comment was certainly misleading in light of this.
And to the poster a few spots above me, no, fetchlands aren't good mana-fixing unless there are dual lands with basic land types. They had threshold the first time and landfall the second time. On top of landfall, we had JTMS brainstorm ability, Oracle of Mul Daya, etc etc, last time. They grabbed the basic mountain in UWR superfriends just fine, but that was the only time their mana-fixing ability was particularly decent, and taht deck had Jacestorming anyhow.
Expect this to make Courser of Kruphix even better, as the only card in standard that actually synergizes with fetches. If I hear anybody complain about Courser's price after today, they should have known better as of this very moment.

This. I got my Zendikar Fetches when they were in standard. They can be reprinted now and drop all the way back, I don't see as a loss.
Sometimes, I think the people who assume "everyone with their playset fetches now are greedy hoarders and speculators" are even more annoying than the speculators themselves. Yes, speculators give the game a bad time, but to see everyone with their own playset of fetches as hoarders/speculators is simply a case of sour grapea, just sitting there and blaming anyone with fetches for their state.
I just lost hundreds of dollars overnight. So people could have fetchlands that WON'T DO ANYTHING BECAUSE LANDFALL ISN'T AROUND AND THEY ARE NOT GOOD MANA FIXING WITHOUT REAL DUAL LANDS. But hey, gotta give the people what they want, even when they're wrong, and even when it causes Legacy players to lose hundreds of dollars in a snap of the fingers.
This is the absolute worst.
Not to mention, this makes Modern much worse, as manabases will be even greedier now.
First, it helps many players who couldn't afford Modern or your precious Legacy to get into those formats. That is completely worth it. Second, it won't make Modern worse. The decks that want to be stupid goodstuff decks generally can already. What it will do is allow Esper Control players to have the same kind of manabase as WUR Control players. And that is better for the format.
Also, if it wasn't for fetchland reprints, I wouldn't be able to get into Modern completely until after I graduated from college and got a full-time job. There are many other people like me in this. So I am sorry that you lost a few hundred bucks, but many more people saved money that the people who lost money.
My Modern deck is Bant Conscription, and thus I will happily toss those full sets of Windswept Heath and Flooded Strand I already own into that deck, so yeah I completely get the frustration with wedge decks having better fixing than shard decks.
But I never had any sympathy for people who claimed they couldn't afford Modern because of fetchland prices. They were at most $10 when they rotated in fall of 2011, and everybody who had any brains kept theirs. People who started playing after that could have still gotten them easily for under $20 each until this year, and Modern had been around since August 2011 so it isn't as if this need for fetchlands came out of left field and took people by surprise. When shocks got reprinted and tanked their price, it was OBVIOUS fetches were going to spike, anybody who missed that boat had nobody else to blame.
This is just a giant bailout for people who made bad decisions over the past few years. And it comes after Aaron Forsythe basically told us there wouldn't be fetchlands this year, on which many of us made our decisions.
Your argument doesn't hold water for new Magic players who came in the game after Zendikar block.
The fetchlands do have synergy with Delve, which isn't as heavily adopted as either of the two previous mechanics but nonetheless relevant. They are still acceptable at fixing mana, giving the little investment they require, hether or not there are appropriate dual lands.
I think the main gripe here is that whoever actually owns playsets of onslaught fetches probably never planned on selling them in the first place if they're still holding on to them, therefore they're just being overly dramatic. Ya didn't hear it from me though
I am sooo glad that fetch lands price will drop now.
It will be in demand now that it has entered standard and Modern, two of the biggest formats today.
So when is the best time to acquire them for cheap for my Cube?
Well, I am glad I was wrong about the fetches. Now I'll be picking up a 2 play sets of these fetches and wait for them to grow in value. These will definitely bring the value down on the Zen fetches a little too.

What does this mean?
It means there are no nonbasic lands with names alphabetically after Wooded Foothills, since there are usually 20 basic lands.
Well it ALSO means that there are atleast 19 non basics. we got 5 wedges and 5 fetches. Which leaves at least more 9 nonbasics. Since artifacts come before non basics, and basics come after.
Honestly this is the most credance to the whole "all 10 fetches are being printed, not just 5" than just some words on the mothership.

I don't think so. The allied fetchlands have opened a floodgate of people now going to join Modern. Some of this people are not going to play a sub-optimal 8 KTK fetches and are willing to spend on 4 ZEN fetches for a optimal deck. And I suspect this demand is greater than the supply from people freeing their ZEN fetches to replace with color-appropriate KTK fetches (especially when you take into account people are more unwilling to sell than to buy, so the balance is slightly tilted to demand.)
So short of a Zen-Fetch reprint, I actually think the prices are going to stay where they are, might even go up a bit depending on the situation in Modern.
Lol, poor Sarkhan- this was supposed to be his big night.
And this is the only time you will see more discussion and excitement over a cycle of lands than of a new Planeswalker.
That is so true. He and many other cards were overshadowed by the awesomeness of the fetches. He is pretty friggin sweet though. Turn for, Sharkan, attack, then FETCH for my mountain.... (mainly to keep the subject of this thread on the fetches)
