Temur Ascendancy cares about creatures with power 4 or more and something in Temur makes 4/4 bears, which Maro tweeted as being relevant to discussing the Temur clan.
Call me Captain Obvious, but looks like the Temur mechanic cares about creatures with power 4 or greater.

Temur > Philosophers
Tarkir bears are bigger and we continue to punch them
I somehow find it tragic when an attacking Traveling Philosopher gets blocked by another Traveling Philosopher, which normally results in two dead philosophers. Shouldn't they just sit aside and start discussing?
"This is really exciting, so much to find out about, so much to look forward to, I'm quite dizzy with anticipation . . . Or is it the wind? There really is a lot of that now, isn't there? And wow! Hey! What's this thing suddenly coming toward me very fast? Very, very fast. So big and flat and round, it needs a big wide-sounding name like . . . ow . . . ound . . . round . . . ground! That's it! That's a good name- ground! I wonder if it will be friends with me? Hello Ground!"
Curiously enough, the only thing that went through the mind of the Sprouting Phytohydra as it fell was Oh no, not again.
Ok, moving on. I think people are being hard on the Dragon Style Twins. Bolt range sure (well, strike range for now) but any noncreature spell moved them out of it. Also double strike is scary on a card that big. Considering all the combat tricks I'm expecting Jeskai to have that card could turn into a threat fast. Not saying its immediately constructed playable, but it has more potential than people give it credit for.
That's why Narset is so amazing. First off, hexproof. Which means she's a lot harder to remove on the spot. Second, that ability. You can play all your combat tricks for free as soon as you attack with her, before any blockers can be declared if that becomes relevant. I do think because she's 6 mana she'll be less of a splash in standard and really shine in edh where you can cast a bunch of heavy priced bombs possibly at instant speed with things like Leyline of Anticipation. Plus Steel of the Godhead is a card... Just saying.
Outlast makes a lot more sense with the elephant, but I agree that it would've been better/more flavorful without sorcery speed. I guess that would've made the elephant insane in multiplayer formats... But then don't print the elephant. Idk.
CHARMS!
That azban sorcery is hilarious the first time you read it.
I'm pumped. I love a lot of what I see. Can't wait to see more Temur spoilers. Delve confirmed as the sultai rare is also exciting. Partly because, delve. But mostly because earlier today I bought a playset of temple of mystery since they're under $3 and I had a suspicion that sultai was going to end up being the craziest clan. Time will tell but I like my chances.
Narset: Finally! Another URW legend! I've been wanting to make a URW EDH deck forever, but everyone does Zedruu, I don't like Ruhan and Numot is too mean. She looks like a lot of fun but why...WHY 6 mana for a measly 3/2 with no evasion?

How is first strike AND hexproof not evasion?
Evasion generally means an ability that lets the creature dodge combat. Aka, unblockable, flying, shadow, protection, etc. In EDH, when your general costs six mana in non-ramp colors, you're going to need a lot more than First Strike and 3 power to punch through. Yeah, you can run equipment and auras, but in general I dislike voltron strategies and there are a lot of generals that do the power-up and win thing a lot better than Narset, such as Uril, the Miststalker, Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon and Bruna, Light of Alabaster.

Fair enough, I've always taken evasion to mean a way to survive/overcome rather than something strictly combat related (i.e. evades removal).
If it weren't for the fact Abzan isn't blue, my Training Grounds senses would be tingling.
Training Grounds and Morph in the same set seems like a bad idea. You'd have to constantly remind players that paying the Morph cost is not an activated ability.

Yeah, she's a little strange. She has the abilities and power/toughtness you'd expect on a much more aggressive creature, but her triggered ability is so powerful that her mana cost is about double what it should be. I wish they would have made her beefier or ditched First Strike for something like the gustcloak ability, that way you could attack with her safely and trigger her ability.
Edit: That just made me think that Reconnaissance would be good in a Narset deck. Hmmm....
Wizards print good rares, players complain about cash grab. They print underwhelming rares, players complain that the cards suck. They spoil the best cards first, players complain about the insane prices of preorders. They spoil the meh cards first, players complain that this is the worst set ever.
So. I think I understand now.
As far as these forums are concerned, WotC can never do anything good because:
Card that is new and probably good = "pushed"
Card that is new and probably bad = "EDH/casual fodder"
Card that is a reprint = "lazy"
Card that is a better version of an older card = "power creep"
Card that is a weaker version of an older card = "worthless"
It was (and hopefully remains to be throughout the entire spoiler) a REALLY smart way to have the token dragon card on a plane that has had its dragons wiped out without having to actually have a creature card with subtype dragon. Well played, Wizards. Well played.
Crackling Doom: Wow I am so much putting this in my deck.
Necropolis Fiend: Delve is back ladies and gentelman and I am happy with it! Altough his exile to put -X/-X is opposing the delve mechanic. And a 4/5 that cost 9 mana (even with delve) is really bad (you can put Avacyn, Angel of Hope for 8 mana).
Narset: This card is really good altogh the stats are little low then what I expected her ability can be used to put a lot of non creatures spells, it's exactly what the Jeskai is.
Sharkan: +1: I will use all the time, it's a great ability. -3 Good for burn but that's it. -6: Meh, it's a "use it or lose it" ability but I don't like that kind of ability. Overall, it's good.
Temur Ascendancy: gives your creatures haste and whenever a huge creature enters underyour control you draw a card and it's only three mana? Sing me in please!
Herald of Anfanza: The mechanic is okay but it won't be as populer as the other mechanics but it's ability is good.
Sulati Charm: Prepare to see a charm sycle and yes this charm is awesome! You can destroy artifact or enchentment, you can draw to cards and this card two cards to help with delve and to destroy monocolor creature like Stormbreath Dragon, Master of Waves and a whole lot of good monocolor creatures.
Dragon-Style Twins: I don't like the prowess mechanic but a 3/3 with dubole strike is always good.
Duneblast: maybe a three color wrath effect is not as good as Damnation but the ability to save one creature is very good.
Overall? Very good cards. A lot of them will se constructed play.
So Sarkhan is basically Archwing Dragon that can also soak 5+ damage, unless you get to ult, in which case he's double Grafted Skullcap. Yeah, this seems pretty good. Between this and Chandra, Pyromaster it seems like they've finally figured out how to make a decent red walker that doesn't require 20+ Mountains to do anything. Only wish the second ability was a -2; for -3 it feels like you should be able to dome players.
You also don't have to spend the mana replaying him every turn.
Am I blind or just crazy? There isn't a thread or even a mention in here that they confirmed (with pictures) all ally colored fetches are in Khans...
You just missed a 11-thread page dedicated to the fetches? No one's talking about fetches because there's the "happening" place to be talking about fetches.
Of all the Khans, I was most concerned about Jeskai's, because Jeskai is the only wedge color combination that didn't have a commander I would consider using if the Khan wasn't that great. I am not disappointed.
I think I hate Outlast. I'm very disappointed by it, the Abzan has my favorite three color combo and I like the flavor of fighting as family. I don't think I like the mechanic.
How many outlast cards were spoiled? That one Azban card costs 3 probably because you get a +1/+1 counter and a 1/1 creature for 2W, repeatable. The token can chump block to offset having a tapped dude.
Probably that XXBBBB spell Maro mentioned would impact standard. That's my guess.
Where did you see about this?
Delve is a fine keyword that uses the GY as another mana source, which is interesting because it is a limited resource. If the cards are well designed, its the kind of keyword that makes you think before playing. I like the charm, and the outlast card is interesting
Temur will most definitely be getting something that sets base power and toughness to 4/4 . If the clan mechanic relies on power/toughness, I don't see a full spread of low CMC to high CMC creatures working with the mechanic without some way of changing power and toughness of the little guys or making large tokens from the smaller creatures.
I really don't like how Outlast is a sorcery speed-only activation. Shouldn't the "defensive" mechanic encourage blocking?
The ability is strong in limited if you can block with it and activate the ability, especially if you have multiples, it becomes pretty "complicated" as the amount of options is huge and WotC is trying to keep things as simple as possible, at least avoid unnecessary complications.
AND making it sorcery actual makes it a choice to either attack / block OR use the ability, which is much more skill testing as you need to think ahead, compared to brainless using the ability EoT.
Outlast mechanic overall looks quite strong, as the cards so far look playable allready and just get a strong late game "level-up" as an extra.
Outlast is about the worst possible mechanic against aggro (and for control in general). For example, the pushed rare 1/2 for W. Comes down on T1, does nothing T2, taps itself on T3, then can finally make an impact T4 and later. At which point you are down to 5 life and have spent 4 turns developing a 2/3 and a 1/1, while the aggro deck has cleared their hand is attacking for lethal. And that is probably best case scenario, a 1 drop 1/2 with a useful ability that doesn't cost a house. Limited only mechanic.
anyone have a link to the panel today if they are streaming it?
