If Abzan got the returning mechanic, the mechanic is almost certainly Undying. Long game mechanic, has +1/+1 counters, works well with Fortress.
The returning mechanic is Morph..?
My understanding is that it's been confirmed that 1/5 of the clan mechanics is a returning mechanic, in addition to Morph (which is not clan-specific).
No, that was not confirmed by anyone. I'm pretty sure maro just said that Morph might not be the only returning mechanic, which ends up meaning nothing.
As for the card, whatever. I have seen better and worse. But the flavor text is just stupid, shallow and exactly what someone who wants to fake a card would think up. Based on the flavor, I call fake. I might be proved wrong, of course.

Normal people logic says yes. Wizards logic says there are currently 40 elephants creature cards in the game and 10 have trample - oh, and of those only a couple are unconditional.

It was clearly stated at SDCC that morph isn't the only returning mechanic.
Could they have a mechanic that says instead of a creature being destroyed they get tapped or something silly like that? Maybe even tap and add a +1/+1?
That would make the elephant give pseudo-indestructible. It would also explain the templating of untapping versus
Vigilance.
Beyond that and just looking at the card it seems real enough in effect, cost, stats, etc. It having a day butt and untapping counter guys during an opponents then also supports the 'endurance' theme of being able to attack and block.
Edit: Just realized that I described super regeneration. Possibility?

Can anyone clear this up with the relevant quote? I don't recall exactly what was said.
Yeah, I realized after I posted it Lumi. Silly on my part.
I edited though and specified that it could be a super regeneration or maybe a regeneration that is automatic without cost? Just an automatic tap and add a +1/+1 whenever a creature with said keyword would be destroyed? Probably too powerful but I guess it would depend.
I kind of like the idea though of regeneration being a wedge focused mechanic.
My bets are on Grit X (If this would untap, you may put X +1/+1 counters on it instead). This card is almost perfectly tailored to the mechanic, basically.

Wizards can start putting booster packs inside dog poo and dog owners will still complain.
It wasn't said clearly as some say. It was only deduced by some players from the answer Maro gave to a question:
" is morph the returning thing you were talking about?"
To which Maro responded with "Maybe:)". That doesn't say much. It could be a mechanic, a theme, a card or something else.
No it was said (as in spoken) at the SDCC panal, but that's the only place it was said so ether they miss spoke or said something they shouldn't have. If I rember right it was along the lines of a returning mechanic that is a clan machanic.

We already have inspired for an untapping mechanic
The art,the name, and the wedge it belongs to was known for a while... The intro pack packing match(looks weird but match), both expansion and clan's simbol mach...
The flavor text is a litle dumb but also is in the flavor of the block.
I call legit!!!
The card is half good-> descent body, cost , and ability.... P/T vs Mana cost is not that good, and the ability is conditional...
As it is , it is playable in EDH ( Ghave, Doran , maybe Teneb cheating it into play)
As for Standard .... Well its a 5/7 on turn 5 or early that has good sinergy with Ajani, Mentor of Heroes , and in this case is not that much a case of win more...
You don't call "dying to removal" if the removal is more expensive in resources than the creature. If you have to spend BG (Abrupt Decay), or W + basic land (PtE) to remove a 1G, that is not "dying to removal". Strictly speaking Goyf dies to removal, but actually your removal is dying to Goyf.
Not giving up hope for a lifegain theme, and looking at cards in M15 for possible synergy with clan mechanics:
Persevere (At the beginning of each end step, if you gained life this turn, put a +1/+1 counter on this creature.)
A weaker version of the Ajani's Pridemate ability, so it can be used more widely and flexibly. There would be lots of incidental lifegain attached to cards in Abzan colors, and some recurring sources of lifegain, probably at uncommon. Has synergy with white, black, and green cards in M15 and in Theros block.
Reinforce makes sense. It's defensive, and getting to pick which creatures get counters could lead to some nice plays with this card. Imagine giving something like a Goldmeadow Harrier or Deathrite Shaman double activations...

They made it in Alpha. It's called "regeneration."

I don't know. a 5/7 for 5 is nice though...

Graft. That dragon scale armor must be pretty rare. I'm sure they share it around once one of their clan is 'done' with it.
On that note, how about Scavenge?

And I think it might have to do with Radiant Fountain. It's a card I think could make waves soon.

Seeing how simple Prowess is, I believe they will try to simplify mechanics as much as possible. None of that Cipher garbage.
