Well I fina-goddamn-lly have a URW general I actually want to put in my cube, which is nice. Everything after that is just gravy. (As far as my EDH cube is concerned actually, I can't really use any of the non-legendary 3 color cards)

Check out the thread for my cube if you have the time, and tell me how terrible it is.
Generals meant to be drafted first in a single pack of 6 cards.
And here is the actual cube, meant to be drafted in 4 regular sized packs. (60 card decks)
We've seen about ten cards. Plus, there's a difference between those cards and Born. Some of these cards are playable as opposed to around 5 from Born, and in even EDH there are a lot of these I would use as opposed to 10 or so from Born.
So percentage-wise, this set is already better than Born. That isn't saying much but still.
I was iffy between Jeskai, Sultai, and Abzan, and based on what we see here, I'm going Sultai. I love that charm, and using Commune with the Gods, Satyr Wayfinder, and Necromancer's Assistant, we could alright start making a Delve deck.
Now, we wait for an enchantment that lets you exile from your opponent's graveyards to cast it's Delve cost.
(just a quick question, if I exile 7 cards from my library while casting Necropolis Fiend, does that essentially mean he now costs BB?
I just don't like Delve because it's not a mechanic that can support a deck or archetype. You aggressively mill yourself to death, then exile your cards, for what? A 4/5 flyer? Wizards needs to get away from mechanics that exile the graveyard so heavily. It's so narrow and can't be used often...
The thing about Delve is that it has dramatically diminishing returns. You can't have more than a couple cards that eat up your GY or they run out of gas. And the OP said that it's not a build-around mechanic, and neither Deathrite or Scavenging are build-around cards. They are utility cards that can go in lots of different decks.
Very underwhelming spoilers. A 7 cmc wrath? The only playable card spoiled is sultai charm and that's a big maybe. I'm glad the sultai mechanic is delve though, I hope wizards utilizes it properly.

You have to exile from your graveyard for Delve, but yes, if you exile 7 from your graveyard, he is a mere BB.

Yep. It also means that, unless you have a lot more cards in your GY, his activated ability is going to be useless.

The Mardu instant is very very playable.
Man, lol, you guys are never pleased unless it's the next JTMS.

The best cards for her to pull off are additional combat phase Sorcery/Instant which would allow her ability to be used again. Seize the DaySavage Beating
I'm really liking this set so far. Delve is going to produce something Modern/Legacy playable. It's too strong a mechanic that will be on too many cards to not produce something worth having. Hell, the card we've already seen would be usable if Tombstalker wasn't probably better. Sultai Charm and the Mardu card are both entirely playable removal. Anafenza's Babby Factory is going to win games on its own. Duneblast, while hilariously overcosted, has great art and flavor text.
This is a good set.

Must have missed that one, that's pretty decent. I didn't say I wanted jtms, and my opinion is that these cards are very underwhelming. Especially the jeskai khan. Talk about buzzkill.

At least 6 1/2 cards from BNG are playable (Brimaz, Kiora, Courser, Searing Blood, Drown in Sorrow, Bile Blight, and the 1/2 is Xenogod). This is the big fall set, so it won't be as bad as BNG, but also keep in mind that they showcase some of the most powerful cards in the set at these things.
I was actually sort of doubting delve would show up. Its far more breakable a mechanic than anything else wizards lets through. And I wouldn't be surprised if *all* delve cards are cautious and there are little to no enablers and a preemptive efficient hoser. Other than that, the power level seems to be as expected
so, i will be start buying modern cards from now to 2030 due to standard cards sucks this year too

Jesus, why does wizards hates Jeskai so much? Not a single playable card yet, while every other clan at least has some cards that scream "potential" (the new yavimaya fires, the mardu black common, sultai charm, the outlast dork)...

There's already a decent number of enablers for Delve. More than enough actually.

Those cards exiled one card to get one benefit. This card and delve in general is asking for a whole lot more, for a whole lot less. Wizards said it themselves that they thought was too narrow and essentially made for one-shot tricks. I guess they figured they'd slip it Into standard for future sight's sake.
I guess I can't complain because I'm sure not playing BUG delve when this set rotates in. Have fun playing against Tormod's Crypt ^.^

That fact that she gets crushed by Drown in Sorrow really makes her playable low in constructed.

It could also get planeswalkers as well, but there isn't any 1 cost tutor in those colors that can get one on top.
