In my local town, we have had 4 boxes opened that had rares and mythics in the uncommon slot. I know this happens every once in a while, but 4 in one town within two days seems kinda frequent. Has anybody else had this experience with M15?
So, kinda a "god" box... I imagine this will only happen in the first printing because as soon as WotC hears of this, they'll go back and make sure the "mistake" doesn't happen again... unless this is another promo-thingee... who know at this point...
It's happened in the past. I remember a draft I was at in the late 90's where every pack had a second rare. I want to say it was Urza's block, but it could have been masques.
This may be a printing glitch that swapped rares from one pack with uncommons from another. Supposedly one of the larger card shops in Massachusetts received several boxes with missing rares, and 4 uncommons.
Well, there goes the theory that the machine readable info in the bottom left corner of the cards will help reduce the amount of misplaced cards in packs...
Seems more like a sorting error than a packing error, meaning that the machine thought it was doing what it was supposed to be doing, but there was an error in its instructions. If it was a problem with the machine-readable code on the cards, I would expect to see it occur in a distinct pattern, rather than erratically.
it just happened to me. I bought 5 packs and three of the five were double rare/mythic. so I decided to buy 5 more packs and again three out of five were like that. Then I bought the rest of the box (9) packs and only one was not like that. So in 19 packs I pulled 14 had two rare/mythic in them.
On the topic of busted sorting, we at release at 2 boxes returned, because they were missing a serious number of rares each (14 and 17). It was highly odd.
For what it's worth, the opposite of evergreen is "deciduous" so I suggest we start using that from now on to refer to shroud, banding, islandhome, etc.
interesting I ran into a few oddities as well. I had the same exact pack twice. Every card was the same the rare was Chandra. I also opened two packs that had both spirit bonds and a foil spirit bonds. I opened a Russian pack that had 6 ornithopters in it. My garruk Russian pack had 3 darksteel citidels in it too. I know people run into oddities quite often but I have never and it seems m15 is full of them. Apparently Chinese planeswalkers have no loyalty printed on them too. The two I opened have no loyalty neither does my friends and he is in another state. A third friend told me about it before I got my packs in the mail. I have been playing for 20 years and never ran into any oddities except maybe a off center card.
Haven't heard about anything like that around here. Just unlucky fat packs with no mythics. On the note about double rares, I opened a regular scuttling doom engine and a foil in the same pack. As well as 2 cone of flames in the same pack, not foil just right next to each other in the uncommon slot. Not really sure how common that is, but the 2 cone of flames in the same pack in sealed was amazing. lol
Nothing of note at my local LGS, apart from a remarkable lack of valuable cards being pulled at the prerelease/last night's fnm, which I'm certain is due to the unfortunate downside of playing the Chord of Calling/Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth lottery than any sort of card-sorting malfunction.
There seems to be a lot of sorting errors. My friend opeed an fat pack with no mythics idk if I ever one without a mythic. That completely slipped my mind. The ink is different on the cards and foils seem to be duller like foreign foils. Maybe that is just in my head but foreign foils have always seem duller. The printing is more glosses like a limited print set or foreign on regular cards. I am not sure if they are printing in different facilities but something is definitely off from the norm. I couldn't imagine opening a box with no rares. What would you even do about that?
I work at a card shop and we opened 24 boxes and out of 24 boxes only had 1 Perilous Vault which we all found kind of odd.
Then I opened my own personal box and one fat pack and out of all those packs only pulled 1 Ulcerate, 1 Sign in Blood, and 1 Reclamation Sage. 45 packs and one of Uncommons seems kind of odd.

I've opened plenty of fat packs without mythics; there's no guarantee that you're going to pull one. My friend once opened one that contained no mythics, and a playset of Gallows at Willow Hill. I haven't noticed any difference in the printing process itself, which I'm pretty sure I remember reading was relatively unchanged, but I'll have to compare them to older cards to be sure. And if you were to open a box with no rares, I'd contact Wizards customer support. They're incredibly friendly and helpful, and I'm sure they'd send you a replacement box along with a few extra packs for your troubles.

Out of the 54 packs opened at my FNM last night, only one Ensoul Artifact showed up. These things happen.
Sorting seems extremely bad. I would guess they're doing some new funky crap to try and thwart box mappers. I bought 2 boxes and pulled a total of 4 mythics, which I suppose happens from time to time but still seems odd to me. In comparison we had someone open up their sealed pull during the prerelease and got a garruk, foil nissa, jace, and ajani. Just really bad correlation.
if it's random, you will occasionally get strange stuff cropping up with small sample sizes (one booster box is a very small sample size) where maybe an uncommon doesn't show up, or shows up only once.
getting double rares is awesome, and honestly i wish stuff like that would happen randomly more often.
it's like buying a kitkat and having that GLORIOUS moment where you realise that there's no wafer inside and it's solid chocolate. or when you crack open an egg and realise you've got a double yolk!
it would result in a lot more impulse purchases of boosters if we knew there was a slight chance that it could yield a double rare. the implications for limited are weird, though. hmm.
for the record i pulled 2 ajanis at the prerelease. seemed unlikely, but i'm cool with it. traded up for a mentor of heroes, so now i have one of each new Ajani.

Didn't think it was weird (just lucky) but I pulled a regular and foil Chord of Calling in the same pack. But its nice to know that this and other weird things are happening.
If this were to happen to a booster box you purchased, what recourse would be available?
If there's anything out of the ordinary about your box, you can contact Wizards of the Coast customer service. They'll usually ask you to send the product back to them for inspection, and then they'll send you a replacement, usually with a few extra goodies thrown in.
I do fine the distribution annoying even though it's random at went to a fnm and afterwards bought a fat pack ended up with 3 scuttling doom engines one in the fnm and 2 in my fatpack.

This happened to me during Mirrodin Besieged. One of my prize packs had a foil and a nonfoil Mirran Crusader in it. Not quite as cool as double Chord, but I was happy.

That's not an error. While it's unlikely to get the same card as both foil and rare (much less a value card like Chord) it is a perfectly legitimate pack. The foil replaces a common no matter what that foil is, so these things happen occasionally.
Friend of mine opened 12 packs today. Only 1 was like this. He got 2 Indulgent Tormentor. One of them was in the uncommon slot. He bought 6 two separate times. Nothing out of the ordinary with the first 6 and only the once with the second set of 6. If I know that this was something that was happening somewhat frequently or I would've checked to see if those were from a newly opened box & I would've bought some of the packs from that box. Now that I know, I'll keep a look out for them.
