Almost definitely going to be in this year's commander set. Maro has said that they won't be going into standard on his watch, so commander's the best bet.
They come into play tapped, so they aren't too strong for Standard. However, I get the feeling they are coming in the next commander set.
The problem isn't that they're too strong for standard, the problem is that they step on green's territory. Why splash green to play farseek/rampant growth/sylvan caryatid/any 2 mana ramp card when you can stay in color and just play these mana rocks? It's more of a development issue. Now, maybe in a higher-than-average colorless environment that rewards mono-color, or with enough artifact hate, (hmmm) these might be printable. That said, I'd like to see them come back, but I'm not sure every color should have 2 cost ramp like that. (in standard)
Please let them be in a printing with foils, I want some cheap foil diamonds to pimp out maelstrom wanderer.
This! Those arts are beautiful and I'd love to have a few foils for my various EDH decks. The 7th edition versions are expensive and near impossible to find.
Probably for the November commander decks, but if they are in KtK it would be amazing.
Wait, is this a thing? I had just been assuming that since they did a commander set last november they would skip a year again. Has there been an official announcement that I missed?

Yep, Maro was asked a while back if Commander sets were now a yearly thing, and he confirmed they were.
It seems like an odd choice if they go into standard. The argument against them as an everpresent part of magic is that it gives every color access to good ramp, which is something typically green only does and a part of why Signets will likely never return to standard.
If they make it into standard, it will be a rare event and the Souls will like it.
Mox Diamond wasn't a part of the same cycle (it was in Stronghold, not Mirage), and it's power level is WAY higher than these diamonds. There's no reason to think that Mox Diamond would be printed alongside the Mirage diamonds besides the fact that they all share "Diamond" in their names.
I don't really see why you'd put these in Commander decks other than flavor or if you need a whole bunch of mana rocks. Even in mono-colored decks better options exist, though they make more sense there. If they're doing these for a Commander product, mono-colored decks seem likely.
P.S. These new arts are beautiful but I'm still partial to the original Mirage art, especially on Fire Diamond.

Agreed, why put these in any Commander precons. We need a Sensei's Top in every precon, as well as Mana Crypt

I will always firmly stand by the belief that Magic is a game first and a collectable second.
Kinda like a treasure.

Well, the infinitely better diamond, Coldsteel Heart has not seen any play so I think they will be fine.
I would not be surprised to see these Khans.

On the reserved list. Also, not part of this cycle.

I want to see that he's been overruled. Diamonds were solid cards but never overpowered.
