I am still very very very skeptical of this wording.
Yes, core sets are geared at newer players, but cards in core sets don't have a different set of rules/templating. Instead, the core sets stick to fairly simple mechanics and have lots of explanatory reminder text (that's the text in parentheses and italics, which Ensoul Artifact does not have).
And although the core set has been used to introduce new templating for existing things, we've always found out about that through an article on the mothership spoiling a new-wording card and explaining what's happening and why, usually far in advance. When M12 introduced "hexproof" and "dies", for example, we found out through a mothership article published a month before M12 previews even began.
So unless/until we see it on the main WotC image gallery with this wording, I'm going to assume something went wrong with the LRR preview image, since that's the likeliest explanation.
The difference is that this is one minor templating change with no rules impact that will appear on a few cards while M12 brought several changes that affected tons of cards.
People are actually complaining that this is too good? Okay, I equip madcap skills onto rakdos cackler and I still have a 5 power guy on turn 2 and one that can attack, so what. In the red deck, you're still at least playing cards that do stuff on their own, but in those artifact lists, you're just running a bunch of do-nothings.

Aggression in blue is more powerful than aggression in red, though. Who is running "do-nothing" artifacts anyway? This turns a lot of cards that a deck like Affinity or Tezzeret would play intentionally into beaters. It's probably not "too powerful" but it is surprisingly pushed.
Jace bounce was a -1. He could do it 3 times before he would die. Liliana can only do it once before having to do her +1. Overall very disappointed with her unless we get Madness.
Crap, you're right, she's not as good as one of the single most overpowered cards ever printed. Unplayable!
Right now, in the absence of new cards, this card is a pile of unplayable garbage. In Standard, there no good 0 or 1-casting cost artifacts other than Darksteel Citadel. A two-card combo should do more than get you a 5/5 indestructible dude. In Modern, this card will eat a Path to Exile or a Liliana -2 and you will lose serious card advantage in the process. The decks that don't run these effects (like Tarmo-Twin) do not care about a generic 5/5 beater and will kill you before you can take them down with it.

I disagree. Darksteel Citadel + Ornithopter gives you 8 artifacts that serve as great targets for this card. Yeah this isn't going to be awesome in Modern, it may not even be tier 1 in standard, but it's far from unplayable garbage.
With a good collection of small utility artifacts (Like Prophetic Prisim) and Darksteel Ingot, you can turn your otherwise useless late game mana rocks into 5/5s.

Nice combo of "combos the only deck in modern" and "dies to removal". It dodges bolt which is excellent and EVERYTHING DIES TO PATH. Yes the two for one is an issue, but it's a big enough boost to be worth considering in a tezzeret deck or affinity. Believe it or not, a lot of decks care about turn 2 5/5s.

I don't really think there's enough to make a deck in Standard completely devoted to this card yet, but it can fill a role in a multi-purpose artifact deck. I was looking at U/R Artifacts for post-rotation Standard. It's promising. What you want is flexibility. You don't want the Ornithopters and Darksteel Citadels to be in the deck only for Ensoul Artifact. They are also outlets for Shrapnel Blast, and the Ornithopters provide convoke options once you have Chief Engineer out. Here's something I threw together quickly:
I think the Scuttling Doom Engine is generally a better card for this deck than Soul of New Phyrexia, but I went with a 3 & 1 split just because the ability could see use. Scuttling Doom Engine provides lots of value when combined with Shrapnel Blast. Attack + Shrapnel Blast is worth 17 damage. Phyrexian Revoker is in as a cheap creature to help convoke costs, another target for Ensoul Artifact or Shrapnel Blast, and the ability can be fairly useful. Hot Soup is basically a placeholder for something better yet to come (probably in Khans). It's another target for Shrapnel Blast or Ensoul Artifact, and it's a decent equip choice for Scuttling Doom Engine.
Can you enchant an Inkmoth Nexus with this and have it stay on it even after it stops being a creature?
No, if an Aura is attached to an illegal object it goes to the graveyard as a SBA.
But it isn't attached to an illegal object, it's attached to a 5/5 creature.
So yes, the aura stays.
The required object is "artifact" and Inkmoth Nexus will cease to the an artifact at the end of the turn.
Actually you have two effects going on. The "1/1 flying infect artifact creature" effect till EOT and the constant "5/5 artifact creature" effect. When the 1/1 effect wears off, the other 5/5 effect is still active. It will lose infect and flying, but stay a ground pounding 5/5 till the other effect is activated again. It will NOT fall off at EOT. It will however become a 1/1 flier the next time you activate the ability.

Turn 2 is easy for Affinity; I'm sure we've seen Affinity hands that can play this turn one--Ornithopter/Mox Opal/Mox Opal, or Orn/Orn/Opal/land for example, without getting too ChristmasTreeLand.

EDIT: Turns out this is legit. So this is kind of broken... How many artifacts in standard cost 1? Many.
Just look one post above you Maro already said it is a new template (on blogatog)
I like Stuffy Doll. Not quite as good as an unblockable, indestructible 5/5, but close enough!

Agreed. Chief Engineer, Darksteel Citadel and this are all pieces to an upcoming pie... maybe?
Also, Pithing Needle is a legitimately main-deckable card that costs 1.

Not that it's relevant to the power level of the card.
I think that this card will see some play in the right decks, and that those decks probably include Ornithopter and Darksteel Citadel.

The problem is that it can be quickly a "dead" card The thopter alone won't do anything.
