You don't call "dying to removal" if the removal is more expensive in resources than the creature. If you have to spend BG (Abrupt Decay), or W + basic land (PtE) to remove a 1G, that is not "dying to removal". Strictly speaking Goyf dies to removal, but actually your removal is dying to Goyf.
If the store owner says that I can't trade in the premises, I'll just go outside. If he says that I can't trade within 10m of his premises, I'll go to 11 meters. If he says that he doesn't want to see me trading, I will put a basket over his head and continue trading.
Yes, he's a local legend. He's only known to take his clothes off before he goes into the Ladies' Lockerroom. Nobody knows what he does in there because he's invisible, but it's almost certainly tons of masturbating.
Calling it now: Scuttling Doom Engine is going to be a format-defining chase rare. You guys who say it isn't very good are just nuts. That's a crazy amount of damage for six mana and the fact that it's colorless means it's going to pop up everywhere. I can't wait to spec hard, pick a bunch up for cheap, crush at FNM and then make a huge profit when people catch on to how good it is.

That Treefolk is surprisingly efficient. 12 Power spread out over two bodies for a mere cost of 6 mana? There is no "Cast from your hand" clause either, making the card all the more worthwhile.
It's worse than Armada Wurm's 10 power spread out over two trampling bodies and that never saw play. Sweet card but the format would have to be super slow for it to see play IMO.

The difference between 5G and 2WWGG is not insignificant.
It's not going to dramatically shake up Standard or anything but Armada Wurm isn't the best comparison.

I thought that Armada Wurm DID see play, especially in early RTR block standard before dragons maze and gatecrash.
The Only thing I am pissed off about right now is Wizards is really make me pick between Doom Engine and Soul of New Phyrexia for my mono green deck. So many good cards for mono green, so little slots. its quite frustrating.

No, it's definitely not insignificant but color fixing was quite adequate during Armada Wurm's lifetime in standard. I guess me point is that evasion is key here; big bodies become much more relevant/worth the investment with evasion. This treefolk works very well in tandem with Nylea but you obviously can't bank on the interaction.

I was more so referring to standard. It actually saw a little standard play earlier in it's lifetime but it clearly didn't make any real impact on the meta.
The damage from doom engine can be redirected to an elspeth. It basically reads "counter elspeth" which is fun. Not necessarily always great but in the current standard metagame it's pretty highly playable as an anti-elspeth measure that also wins the game.

Modern: G Tron, Vannifar, Jund, Druid/Vizier combo, Humans, Eldrazi Stompy (Serum Powder), Amulet, Grishoalbrand, Breach Titan, Turns, Eternal Command, As Foretold Living End, Elves, Cheerios, RUG Scapeshift
First person to replace Scuttling Doom Engine's artwork with Zoidberg gets a million fake internet points. In all seriousness, it seems unnervingly powerful for a format where Shrapnel Blast will be legal. If you get to untap with it, you probably win, which is the most you can ask for out of six colorless mana. A more board-controlling red deck can afford to run this and four Darksteel Citadel so it always has Blast fodder. Seems like a deck I'd want to try.
Treefolk is treefolk. Tribal decks and maybe mono-green EDH decks will enjoy it. Pretty badly obsoletes Dauntless Dourbark.
Scuttling Doom Engine is just, magnifique in the current standard meta.
Worst case scenario, it get countered or exiled. (not likely in first game, but after sideboard...)
Medium case scenario, it get destroyed/die and it still deal 6 damage to opponent for 6 CMC.
Great scenario, it attack, doesn't get chump block by whinny token creature. Might kill some heavy threat, or deal 6 damage repeatedly to opponent.
As for the Treefolk. it's a Nightmare for forest with an ETB effect that put a "clone" of himself. Not bad.
Other case scenario- It gets Detention Sphered, banishing lighted or Silence the believered and the card does nothing, or removed from the hand before it can be used by thoughtseize or mesmeric fiend 2.0.
Man, "removed by Thoughtseize" is even worse than "dies to removal" in terms of criticisms that apply to nearly every card (at least some cards don't actually "die to removal")

I like the Treefolk. Surprised it came in this set, actually: it seems made for Selesnya populate and Innistrad flicker effects.
I would love Treefolk tribal to be a thing: it could actually make me want to play ( shock; horror ) play green.

Gah, how could I forget about that game? I guess I didn't eat enough chex cereal. I was a Life kind of guy, and my name isn't Mikey.
There will also be a red burn spell called "Ultra dragon fire face-blasting"
Playing limited in this format sounds scary once your opponent plays their 6th land, thats for sure.
