The dragon token probably just signifies a Dragon Egg reprint.
You know you're probably right red has 8 rares so it can't be a a new rare just the way he phrased it. "There's a card that makes dragon tokens?!" made me think he was hyping something new
Obviously they are both going to be rare, but if that create dragon tokens card has a casting cost that isn't insane is going to be an awesome combo with crucible of fire. (so it's probably going to be cost 8 or something crazy like that)
They've already spoiled that card, it's a red shaman that cost 4. You have to put an aura on it to get the dragon.
ahh Well I was right that it was a new card, I just hadn't realised we had already spoiled ourselves.
off topic but do you think we'll get the full list tomorrow or will they mess around like they did with conspiracy and not do the whole thing until like the wek before prerelease?
Sam Stoddard's previous article indicated that the set would be out on Friday and so he wouldn't have a preview.
So given WotC's track record with their new site, maybe?
I'm really looking forward to the Treefolk token maker that they're going to spoil tomorrow. Looks neat, gets p/t equal to amount of forests, and that's just the token. Hopefully it's a good card in it's own right.
Same with the Dragon token.
I'm going to have to get my hands on those soldier tokens for a few of my decks. It looks great.
Blearchgh. The new border is completely awful on the tokens with no abilities. That little rectangle of color below the type line right next to all those curves is pretty jarring. It doesn't help either that the uneven border lengths are even more obvious when they both terminate at different points of the type line box. Before I was having to bust out rulers to show people at my shop, now all I have to do is hand them a token to show them what I'm talking about, so there is the plus side? : / I do like that there is now more of the art by flattening out the bottom of the pic, however, I wonder why they didn't just do away with the arch at the top of the art as well. The Name box at the top was a bit jarring at first, but after looking at it, I like that there is a set size for it rather than one that resizes depending on the length of the name. Uniformity is good. My only concern there is that I hope the actual cardboard has the 3d relief look for the text that seems to be missing from the mockups.
The token type is probably because of the artifact tokens, I wouldn't be surprised if new players thought the gold tokens worked like lotus petal. You'd be surprised how many new players put tokens in their deck. This is especially relevant with conspiracies, which also lack a mana cost but start the game in play.
I like the new tokens with text boxes, but the weird rectangle at the bottom of colorless tokens ruins them for me. The emblems are fine.
That black bar with the name, contrasting so much with the rest of the card. (And the gold text makes it even worse.)
That typeline "Token" (well, I suppose it is good for new players, but it still irks me.)
That colored rectangle on tokens with no abilities.
That typeline "Emblem - Ajani".
Seems I'll be doing all the tokens for my decks myself from now on. Oh well.
(And the funniest thing is, I'm usually not the one to complain xD)

Well, now I guess the only redeeming factor of these things are those "name bars".

Technically, the two border points are the same length. But the one on the left has a pretty significant shadow on it, which blends in with the black border, which causes it to look shorter. Practically, you're right, it looks uneven.

Conspiracies don't start in play. In fact they are never in play. They start in the command zone an never leave.
It doesn't help either that the uneven border lengths are even more obvious when they both terminate at different points of the type line box.
Thought these were pretty bad already, now can't unsee this. They'd be 100% fine without that rectangle next to the p/t.
I think that is the shadow effect caused by the inner border on the left hand side of the card. Not that the outer border terminates at different points. They most likely end at the same point but to the eye it looks wrong because of this shadow.

Garruk looks like he's readying for a guillotine. They take out the walker background (emblem with the five points) already. It's so tacky.
