Aether spiral twister is an awkward name. I hope it was just the literal translation of the Jaoanese printing and not how it will be laid out on the English version
Yup, just the literal translation I made up: 霊気(Aether) 渦(Spiral) 竜巻(Twister).
To be fair, its Japanese name sounds pretty awkward as well.

Based on how M15 is shaping up, and that KTK is a Mongol themed set, I'm expecting we will have a lot of token generation after rotation. That makes this effect quite a bit better. If standard does start to rely heavily on tokens, then I think we won't see any new sweepers, and rely on Drown in Sorrow, and Anger of the Gods as our sweepers, coupled with spot removal. Looking forward to shaking things up, at least
Why exactly do you expect that? I'm a bit rusty on my history, but I was not aware Mongol hordes used token generation...
Mongols were known as a horde force, which seems to best be demonstrated as tokens in MTG. Not to mention the token generation that has been spoiled in M15 plus the return of convoke.

Even with the attacking condition, I think that this card is completely bonkers.
True, it's not as on-demand and sweeping as Cyclonic Rift, but when it DOES go off, you are not just returning creatures to your opponent's hand; you are either getting rid of them outright or denying them card draw for however many turns they decide.
And let's face it, you're Blue. People are going to be attacking you, a lot.
Wow, this outclasses Evacuation (which was fringe Standard playable in its day) and Whelming Wave (also fringe playable but outclassed by Verdict).
Doesn't ever hit your creatures? Check.
Card advantage? Check (as long as you hit 2 or more creatures, and if you are not you probably aren't casting this), unlike the always card disadvantage Evacuation.
Slaps haste creatures? Check. (Unlike Supreme Verdict).
The question will be - how many Supreme Verdicts do you run, and how many of this new card? My gut says 3 and 2.
Also, is this THAT much stronger than Aetherize, another card people overvalued like mad?
It's Aetherize's tempo swing, but card advantage not disadvantage. So yes. It is not comparable to that card.
Into the Void is 1 mana, Temporal Spring is 3 mana and is the stronger card. Cast Aetherize when behind, and the next turn, you need to cast another one just to survive. Cast this spell when behind, and you've completely caught up.
This card may actually make it viable to run janky cards like Wall of Frost that aren't usually playable because your sweepers kill them.
In a format where people are often attacking with multiple high-costed creatures? Yeah it's good.
I haven't seen that in years. People learned to run removal a long time ago and the notion of having too much on the table keeps fatty armies from happening. Even if that were the case, it seems like a lot of mana to take out just one players attackers.
It's a rare AEtherize. That's how I'll evaluate it. AEtherize is a good uncommon, whether it was overevaluated or not. It may not have been played much in it's time, but it was outclassed by other cards. It doesn't mean it's not good. I feel the same way about this card. If nothing comes in to be a better wrath, this card will be deemed "good". It all depends on the meta and the cards in it.
with the theme of khans being "going wide" i'd put money on wizards nerfing wraths for at least part of the block to support that theme since its kind of hard to do if everybody is waiting for their stuff to get blown up turn 4-5. we probably wont get a 4 mana non-conditional wrath for a while as maro has stated a desire to move towards higher cmc for non-conditional wraths. i thing control is gonna have to lean more on pin point removal and bounce
This card will at very least appear as multiples in sideboards. People just cannot evaluate cards at all.
+single color can be splashed in many decks
+instant speed
+one-sided
+returns to deck not to hand, this creates card advantage
+ignores golgari charm, boros charm, rootborn defenses, ajani's presence
+makes bant control powerful now that caryatid and courser aren't terrible opening plays
+answers hexproof creatures
Not sure what people want from magic cards. Seems like if a card isn't utterly broken and undercosted it is unplayable in their eyes. And would people stop citing every sweeper type card as evidence there will be no 4 mana sweepers? How irresponsible would it be to have 2, 4-mana sweepers at the same time for 2 months? The game would be unplayable. Jfc think first then post.

If the store owner says that I can't trade in the premises, I'll just go outside. If he says that I can't trade within 10m of his premises, I'll go to 11 meters. If he says that he doesn't want to see me trading, I will put a basket over his head and continue trading.
Yes, he's a local legend. He's only known to take his clothes off before he goes into the Ladies' Lockerroom. Nobody knows what he does in there because he's invisible, but it's almost certainly tons of masturbating.

Chuck in some Master of Waves and a Thassa or three and we start looking at a lot of card draw. Nom.
Playing simic, so my preference would to be to couple with prophet/zameck guildmage/chimera (life gain), etc. happy days.
edit: Simic to flash in Wasteland Viper for pesky Mistcutters. Simic also gives you options like unravel the aether for UW.
I don't know about standard though, I hope its not the best choice but it kills tokens.

The fact that it only affects one player and only attacking creatures makes me prefer Evacuation. I might run it alongside shuffle effects, though.
