So close to being an interesting card, but not quite there. I doubt I would even want to play it in my Uril EDH deck, as there are already plenty of better back-up-plan type creatures that are cheaper, more resilient, more potent, or some combination of such. I don't even run Auratouched Mage in my deck, so I can't see me cutting anything for this guy.
But hey, some folks might like him. And at least he isn't taking up a rare spot. Decent budget option for enchantress edh decks, i guess.
Gift of Immortality is tutored directly by this guy. Vish Kal is your sac outlet.
Wipe out your opponents' boards and then swing with a ridiculously huge Vish Kal.
Unless your opponents have a pathetic board presence, it's gonna take several turns to "wipe out" their boards. You can only sac him once per turn, netting you 4 counters (which you have to remove all at once). So you could kill an X/4 or smaller every turn, or spend multiple turns building up counters to kill one big dude. Not worth the hoops you gotta jump through, imo. There are tons of better options available for Vish.
No, the "and/or" is just specifying the zones you can search for the aura, as you don't have to search them all (for instance, if you don't want to search your library in order to avoid an effect like Widespread Panic).
Not true - you can sacrifice it, get it back immediately, then pull the gift of immortality out of the graveyard and put it back on him immediately, because of his trigger.
whoopsie. RTFC wrong. I was thinking Gift returned the creature and aura both @eot.
yeah, I suppose that's pretty interesting then. One of these days I'm gonna get around to making a Vish deck, but I haven't been able to make myself pull him out of my Ghave deck yet.
This card is very fairly costed, it is 1 mana more than Auratouched Mage with 1 more power and toughness. This card is also a giant so it is supposed to cost more than a wizard.
Well, sort of. Since Skybind returns the nonenchantment permanent at the beginning of the next end step, you'll generate a token once per end step (yours and your opponents').
