I can't blame WotC for playing it safe on that casting cost. This guy not only has 4 abilities, but he eats planeswalkers for breakfast and poops out 3/3 deathtouchers right after. This guy is a tool box though. Protects himself and makes life miserable for your opponent. If we get a good ramp spell, I could see this guy hitting standard hard thanks to mystic, caryatid, and ramp spell getting it out on turn...4 or something.
And that enchantment is just fun. I like that enchantment.
Even though he is rather expensive, there's enough decent ramp from the Theros block that I would say makes him able to be cast sooner anyways, turn 5 probably most commonplace, and with the four abilities that interact with the board or let him protect himself, I'd say he's probably playable in a GB ramp deck.
He's not expensive. Get him out turn 5. Caryatid into turn 4 Nissa into turn 5 Garruk. Easy peasy. Coursers and Hero's Downfalls for defense, and beast beatdown.

The ramp in Theros block is pretty bad really. What I wouldn't give to have Farseek back. Or this as the curve topper in Jund from last season. mmm so good.
This give us hopes for more "broken" walkers (4 abilities) , Garruk will be good in EDH and maybe can do some work in other formarts( i don't know maybe a deck can just cheat hin out)
The enchantment is cute i will try it ( also after rotation it might be good to whip Gary (if there is a counter spell that exiles))
Garruk is in Green, so the 7 isn't quite as a bad as it is with, say, Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker. He and Nissa may be friends.
Either way, he's ridiculously cool and entertaining
I'll note that he's actually completely spectacular in EDH---eat their 30/30 and gain 30 life; give whoever is winning the emblem (lol); pump out deathtouchy guys to keep attackers at bay; and in the color of Doubling Season. Plus BG can recur him if he croaks, fairly well. Stuff like Restock. Fun guy.

that's not what happened at all. kamahl stabbed phage, akroma, and some old lady and they became korona. then korona got stabbed by her "prophets" and kamahl got drunk with a mutant centaur
Garruk is unplayable outside of EDH, that said. DAMN is he going to be a nice tool for any XBG decks in the format.
Necromancer's Stockpile, don't really care for it. If I was still playing my old old old crummy zombie tribal version of Grimgrin like I was when I first started playing EDH, sure I'd have loved it. Now though...eh. Considering it was our only other mothership spoiler tonight, kinda disappointed.

Well, T1 Elvish Mystic, T2 Sylvan Carytid, T3 play a Nyxthos and Courser, turn four Garruk is still possible while keeping you defended. It's not the best, but certainly good enough where you can put him out earlier.
I figured they'd go this route with Garruk. If you're going to show off how he's "Hunting Planeswalkers", you need to make him one heavy-handed killing machine. Talk about making him exciting to open... this is what the face of a set should look like.
Necromancer's Stockpile is a neat Johnny card that could have some interesting constructed applications, since value town is a good place to be.
Garruk, Apex Predator is a ferocious beast. Killing other Planeswalkers as a positive? That's good. Pumping out deathtouched blockers as a positive? Also good. So right there he's solid, and the last two abilities round out the card excellently. He likely won't see any play outside of Standard (as for 7 mana in Modern you can Urzatron out Karn Liberated, which is just gross) but I could see him getting played alongside everyone's favourite Green duo, Sylvan Caryatid and Courser of Kruphix. 7 in Green is about 6 in other colours, and the new Nissa makes getting him out that much easier. Given that they went through a lot of motions to make him the face of the set, I'd be surprised if he spends a season on the sidelines.
Both are very cool. I'll have to pick up Stockpile for my Jarad EDH. Maybe I can find a spot for Garruk in my Prossh deck. He's all-around great utility and his ultimate with all of my token spamming is really mean.
Umm, as said kills elspeth. lol Def a really high costing guy BUT very versatile and in the right colors to play it in. Def a 1/2 of in the main (maybe 1 main 1 side in some decks) since aggro etc.
It looks so awkward...

As for Necromancer's Stockpile, I can't wait to get up to some Gravecrawler and/or Veilborn Ghoul shenanigans.
