I know it's their job to pretend to be excited about unexciting things, but could the at least try a little harder? If they wanted a card that accented Garruk's journey with the curse of the Chain Veil, wouldn't Liliana of the Veil be much more fitting?
Perhaps Garruk found a way to take the Veil chain... so he's corrupted by it and Liliana is back to normal?
Pretty happy to see Liliana Vess. I always thought she was underrated. She doesn't protect herself great, but has a lot of loyalty to counteract and can really provide some card advantage over time.
Despite all the little tricks I've learned to make the damn site work, I still don't see LSV's planeswalker card showing up in an article, so.....IDK honestly, I'll keep trying.
You're gonna be trying for quite a while....about 22 and 1/2 hours. His article isn't until Friday.
Edit: Also pretty bummed Perilous Vault is mythic. I'm gonna want like 10 of those bastids for EDH, and I'm pretty certain they're gonna be overpriced as hell because of the rarity (plus demand & playability in multiple formats).
The wording of those abilities on Avacyn sounds like they are killing Protection as an evergreen keyword for good.
i don't agree. Avacyn giving a creature protection from a color makes the creature unblockable by creatures of that color and making spells fizzle. I doubt they wanted to introduce new players to those concepts in a core set (because the timing issues can be difficult for new players to learn)

I'm not going to speculate on the story, but regardless, that wouldn't really fit their justification for her appearance ("it's where we all began...").
She had a cloth that drapes in front that's longer than she is tall and a matching one in the back.
The previous version had that at a length that someone might actually wear.
She saw Baneslayer's amazing dress and decided to get the tailor to make her something similar to wear on her off-duty days.
If you are concerned about her tripping on that cloth, don't. She flies, bro. I know if I was Avacyn, I wouldn't risk scuffing my designer thigh-high boots, not when my wings work just fine.

This was when I thought from the hype we were getting Jace today. I know now.

Not when you compare it to Oblivion Stone in Modern.
I was able to take a game against a RG Tron deck because Oblivion Stone only destroys. This has 1 more setup cost (mostly irrelevant) and exiles itself (mostly irrelevant) but exiles instead of destroying (not irrelevant).
New Avacyn << Old Avacyn. Much more political though, as its target creature with her first ability and target player with the second you can hit your opponent's stuff.
Exile O-Stone is Exile O-Stone. I like it. Gonna go in a quite a few decks for me.
Liliana V1 reprint is meh. I already own one for EDH I don't really have a need for another one. I never did see her in Standard, 5 mana for a tutor is pretty decent for a control deck I guess.

New disk variant erases one of Wurmcoil Engine's most powerful upsides so I think they'll stick with O-Stone. Plus, you can durdle with it and put fate counters on your stuff if it's not worth blowing up the board.
Huh. Can you respond to Perilous Vault's activation by destroying it, or doesn't the "exile itself" clause mean you can't respond to it? I feel suddenly confused about rulings here.
Exiling is part of the cost so there's no chance of saving it in the graveyard.
Sorry. I mean, your opponent activates Perilous Vault. Can you respond to the activation via Naturalize and stop it entirely, or does the fact it exiles itself as part of the activation cost mean you can't respond? Can this be prevented?
Even if it didn't exile itself as part of the activation cost, destroying the source of an activated ability doesn't stop the activated ability from happening.
Woah, another Avacyn! I was not expecting that! Another pleasant surprise! I'd rather she have been 8 CMC and had a killer effect like her first incarnation though. But still, I definitely want this card. Such a wonderful surprise!

The 1 more setup cost is important against decks such as Affinity and Zoo. If you cannot get the turn 3 Tron, you will have to wait 1 more turn to use it, which could make the difference between life and death. Oblivion Stone can also save a Karn if you have it out but need to wrath. However, I admit that exiling is pretty good against Melira Pod and Bogles so it could see some play as a metagame choice over Oblivion Stone.
If the store owner says that I can't trade in the premises, I'll just go outside. If he says that I can't trade within 10m of his premises, I'll go to 11 meters. If he says that he doesn't want to see me trading, I will put a basket over his head and continue trading.
Yes, he's a local legend. He's only known to take his clothes off before he goes into the Ladies' Lockerroom. Nobody knows what he does in there because he's invisible, but it's almost certainly tons of masturbating.
I just wanted to see the new sliver and they keep not showing it.
Or there would be no Sliver, so Sliver Hive is pretty much a troll card ala Steamflogger Boss (I mean in terms there's nothing to support in their own set)
You played JESUS?!?! I heard none of his guys stay in the graveyard, and once you think you have him beat he ALWAYS comes back to win within three turns. I like...WORSHIP him.
This Avacyn will surely see some play in White Devotion decks. She is insane with Godsend, the new Ajani and white soul.
This vault is also pretty powerful, I wonder what kind of deck he will fit.
I'm glad to see the original Liliana reprint. She is pretty fair and she'll be a viable enabler for Waste Not. I just wonder how Garruk is gonna be now.

Cards I still want to see created:
|| Olantin, Lost City || Pavios and Thanasis || Choryu ||
Possibly because there's another version in Tarkir block? Garuuk is hunting her, after all.
Also: there's a dragon in m15

Storm Crow is strictly worse than Seacoast Drake.
Preferably after D-sphering a creature or two of my own....

Of course there is a Dragon in M15. That doesn't mean that Liliana will be in Tarkir at all.
