Sunblade Elf is a 2/2 for G in any format with shocks. Modern Zoo will enjoy that, and G/W Aggro in Standard will definitely play it pre-rotation, and probably still post too, since it also gives the aggro deck a bit of reach in the late game.
Nissa's second ability is bonkers for big ramp decks (read: EDH). Possibly better than Garruk Wildspeaker in that regard, though not being able to untap things like Nykthos and Cradle hurts a bit. Koth animates better and her ult is kind of meh though.
I absolutely love that Nissa! I was a bit sad for the fact that I'm not able to play the new Garruk in my deck, but then Nissa appeared. She's instantly one of my all time favorite Planeswalkers.
She *almost* pays for herself the first turn she comes out. Her 2nd ability is pretty incredible, and I could definitely see a green player like yourself falling in love with her.

If someone is playing Icy Manipulator against you, you've already won.
The uncommon cycle is just pure bs, after going on about "kird ape" like stuff and hyping it up they give us such underwheming garbage cards? Seriously?!
Middle finger to you too Wizzards.
Eh, they're supposed to be flavorful, which they are and probably meant for formats outside of constructed competitive. They're not terrible from that aspect, but I could certainly see how you wouldn't like them at first glance (or second or third glance for that matter).

All the lands you summon with the ultimate get summoning sickness yes? so you can't use them. Ironically enough this is something you don't want to ramp into her too early, but yeah getting her out before a polukranos or the new Hydra would be nice.

Modern Zoo already has Kird Ape, Loam Lion and Wild Nacatl. For Sunblade Elf to see play outside of Standard, the creature types need to be relevant.
Uncommon cycle is terrible. The previous one was much better.
New Nissa however is ridiculous in Commander.
Either you get a permanent 4/4 beater/blocker or you ramp, and in EDH ramp is at its strongest. Ult just dumps most of your lands out onto the battlefield meaning you draw more business spells and can cast whatever you want. There is a pretty high risk of a wipe killing your guys though.

SunBlade Elf is so good, super excited about that card, for anyone who doesn't know we are about to lose experiment one in the G/W aggro deck, and this guy takes his place almost immediatly, sure he doesn't get as big as Ex. One, but he has a late game ability if he sticks around, Now I just need to find replacements for Voice of Resurgence and Advent of the Wurm lol.
meh, turning your lands into creatures permanently is just asking to walk into a wrath

Interesting that the black/red uncommon is featured on the booster packs. It's not particularly splashy or powerful. Plus it's an uncommon. I guess they just liked the art?
I know planeswalker ultimates rarely matter in tournament Magic, but my inner Timmy loves the way Nissa's ultimate mass-triggers any Landfall abilities you may have. (I take it the lands don't become creatures until they're already on the battlefield, so you can't draw your deck with Garruk's Packleader/Soul of the Harvest, or nuke a multiplayer table with Warstorm Surge, right?)

Not the first time "decent/mediocre card with good art" got booster pack billing and it won't be the last

Probably. Remember Maritime Guard was booster pack art, as well. : /

They are the same as the cycle in M13, uncommon limited powerhouses. Were people actually expecting anything else from a cycle designed for limited?

Yes, apparently so.
This cycle is fine for the limited format, and quite flavorful, but no, if you're looking for constructed powerhouses here, you wont find them.

I can't believe anyone is excited about this card. It is absolutely unplayable. I wouldn't even play her in LIMITED. Easily the worst walker printed since the green elf one. Absolutely terrible.

That is why she only untaps forests

I think it's kinda cute you can play Nissa, untap 4 forests to play Garruk Wildspeaker, untap two lands to...idk...something...
4x Tarmogoyf
2x Scavenging Ooze
2x Kitchen Finks
4x Primeval Titan
3x Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre
4x Garruk Wildspeaker
4x Utopia Sprawl
4x Abrupt Decay
1x Dismember
4x Misty Rainforest
4x Overgrown Tomb
1x Swamp
12x Forest
lol, that is cute. As long as you just use Nissa for her 2nd ability, she's probably pretty solid. Or, use her 3rd ability with Eldrazi Monument?

I cant wait to ult her with Avenger of Zendikar/Rampaging Baloths/Concordant Crossroads on the battlefield... or add mana, untap the forests and use the mana to fuel Kamahl, Fist of Krosa. I cannot wait.
Yes, apparently so.

+1 Target Darksteel Citadel turns into a 4/4 creature with Trample. It is still a land
+1 Put Polukranos onto the battlefield from your hand
