Very expensive mana sink. Possibly playable in control.
Verdict, activate Mutavault get a token.
Playable in control ? you need a Sliver in play to activate and make a Sliver token...
What he's saying is he has at least 7 lands in play. 1 Mutavault taps for a colorless and activates itself to become a 2/2 sliver. Then he taps 5 lands and the sliver land to put the 1/1 sliver into play.
Remember when WotC designed good mythic cycles, like the Titans? Pepperidge Farms remembers.
I wonder if I should go into marketing. Or maybe all consumers should. Good mythic cycles or even good cards in general sell packs. Bad or underpowered cards do the opposite. The argument that standard is powered down right now doesn't make me want to buy underpowered cards that will lose their value later. I know it is bad when I don't want to pull a mythic over a rare. I won't waste time or money on boring cards. Looks like my wallet will be full for another 3 months at least.
This means we might get a sliver token with oldschool style slivers! I hope the line about maybe keeping the redo was being nice to the people who came up with the redesign, and not foreshadowing reuse of last year's sliver token or the new mythic being new style.
Sliver land design is absolutely terrible, in my opinion. You don't make cards where the drawback (making colorless mana by default) gets to be entirely negated by the only deck where you'd include it. It's like making a card that costs UU that says, "Draw 3 cards, then discard 3 cards. Oh, unless you control an island." Yeah, we kinda figured that was a given. Might as well not even bother with the drawback, and just let Cavern of Souls cover the 'tribal land 5-color fixer' base.
I'm honestly really disappointed in the black soul. On curve, if you play out any of the souls on turn six, the green/red ones immediately get to start directly affecting the board on the following turn. The colorless one completely changes combat on your next turn, and if you successfully bluff indestructibility, can still allow you to play spells after combat. Even the blue one potentially refills your hand with five cards. The black soul basically makes you time walk yourself to stick Death Denied on a body. It also has the worst keyword out of the revealed ones. =__=
On another note, I think that it's interesting that the red soul will win in a fight against any of the other titans (unless Phyrexia gives itself indestructible).
I'm really impressed with the sliver land. I mean, with mana confluence in the format it would be quite reasonable to imagine a five or four color sliver tribal deck. The only problem with that are the slivers themselves, which are not quite powerful enough to get the job done. If they print a sliver of hexproof or a sliver of indestructibility (very unlikely) then maybe, MAYBE, we can get some sliver action in standard.
The black soul sucks even more than the blue one. Nothing to see here.

Do people forget that a tier 2/3 deck exists that tries to fill its GY? Now it has a way to get back the Nighthowlers and Nemesis that get milled at instant speed. In that deck, it is a draw 3 (creatures) for 5 mana at instant speed withot costing a card. It providew the same amount of card advantage as Opportunity for 1 less mana. It's easier to draw (dredging), and it always draws creatures. Yeah. Terrible.
I guess I'm thankful that everyone else hates Soul of Innistrad so much, because I actually have a use for it.
One of the central problems of my modern Loam deck is that I have so many utility creatures that I can't ever get out of my graveyard once I get the engine going, since I frequently have no cards in hand except lands and Loam. There are plenty of times when I'd love to have a Death Denied as a mana sink that I never even need to draw.
Also, that land does more right by Slivers than the entirety of the M15.
The only thing is though that the slivers are all uncommons so I doubt they will have either hexproof or indestructible. Or if they do, they won't be aggressively costed

All I want is a sliver that gives Convoke to slivers in your hand.
Imagine if the last ability was: search your library for a Sliver card, reveal it and put it into your hand. Putting 1/1s into play isn't really good, even in tribal. Not for 5 mana.
I think it depends on what is on the field waiting for that 1/1 sliver token. If it is coming into the field as a potential 7/7 flying haste with trample, then you can bet that I would pay 5 mana for that.
So appatetly drawing 3 cards for 5 mana and not having to spend a card to do so is bad now. Good to know.
Its not drawing 3 cards, its not nearly similar to drawing cards and its situational, maybe you are "drawing" 3 cards, or 1, or 0. More with scavenging Ooze in the format.
If there are three creatures in your yard, it's almost certainly vastly superior to drawing 3. Even if there are 2, it's often better than drawing 3. Scavenging Ooze is pretty irrelevant given that they'll share almost no time in standard together. Not to say it's good, just that making it sound like it's vastly inferior to drawing 3 is silly.
I'm telling you, I'm *really* liking that it seems Wizards is reserving the Mythic slots for incredible limited cards, instead of incredible constructed cards. Because these cards are so fantastic in limited that it makes sense they should pop up most infrequently. To me, constructed staple cards being printed at Mythic is annoying because it just over-inflates their value by being that much more rare in abundance on the market. Rarity should be assigned based on how frequently a card should appear in limited, only. Granted some limited bombs are also potentially constructed staples, there's nothing that can be done about that, but if it isn't a limited bomb, it shouldn't be Mythic. I'm delirious, I hope I'm making sense haha.
Wait, are we supposed to be getting more Slivers in M15? I had sort of assumed they were just an M14 thing... are we getting reprints of the M14 slivers or are we getting all new Slivers? Anybody know? I'm out of the loop I think.
People forget that this land doesn't produce 1/1 tokens. Most of the time it probably creates a 4/4 flying haste shroud creature that can be sacrificed to deal 2 damage.
I mean, if your slivers don't look like that by the time you have 6 lands you're playing sliver decks woring.
As for the art: I approve so much. I refused to put any of the M14 slivers into my sliver deck, even though there would have been some sick combos (thorncaster + toxic, oh my). Now I will probably put these slivers into my deck, but I also hope wizards returned to the symmetrical effects, because quite frankly it's super-confusing having both of the old and the new slivers in one deck, especially in a freaking mirror match. "So this sliver gives my slivers +1/+1 but these two don't - oh and I do have double strike but not flying and..." Oh god. Wizards please, this is not how you support a creature type of the past.

As a sort of "last hurrah" for the M14 slivers, they're including a cycle of five new uncommon slivers (which are all supposed to be good on their own) and a mythic rare sliver in M15. It's additionally possible these are being included in M15 as a sort of safety valve on them, since they'll only be with the rest of the slivers for three months. We'll have to see.

"Slivers!
What? Weren't Slivers M14's thing? Yes, they were, but I didn't want people who made Sliver decks in M14 to never get any new toys to play with. Because Slivers don't reside on Theros, M15 was the only other chance we had to get new Slivers into Standard alongside Galerider Sliver, Predatory Sliver, and the rest of the M14 crew. There is a cycle of five uncommons, many of which play well on their own and are devastating in combination, as well as a new mythic rare Sliver that every Sliver aficionado has been waiting for."
"A scrupulous writer, in every sentence that he writes, will ask himself at least four questions, thus: 1. What am I trying to say? 2. What words will express it? 3. What image or idiom will make it clearer? 4. Is this image fresh enough to have an effect? And he will probably ask himself two more: 1. Could I put it more shortly? 2. Have I said anything that is avoidably ugly?"

No, they didn't want M14 to have little room for stuff other than slivers, so they split them between M14 and M15.
