With those yellow lights floating around it shows that is is made of darksteel/blightsteel and it not being indestructible. I suppose in that case it isn't fully made of that particular material.
The problem with defining this format by what is "fun" is that everyone seems to define fun as what they don't lose to. If you keep losing to easily answered cards, that means you should improve your deck. If you don't want to improve your deck, then you should come to peace with the idea that you are going to lose because you chose to not interact with better strategies.

I went to an art school where I learned about character drawing. One thing I learned about bad guys is that they need to have sharp edges, to show that they are sly, maniacal, devious, crass, etc... When there are too many sharp edges, it no longer adds to the bad guy, but takes away from them. For example, the bad guys in any of the Transformer movies... too many sharp edges, hard to distinguish parts of the body.
So this is my beef w/ the art: too many sharp edges; just takes away from the darkness that is the New Phyrexians.
6/6 trample in colorless is very unusual, especially for only 6. Wurmcoil Engine is better, but also still a $20 powerhouse, so real solid card. Even if it makes the color pie cry a little (the colorless 6/6 trample is beefier than the green 6/6 reach?)

that's not what happened at all. kamahl stabbed phage, akroma, and some old lady and they became korona. then korona got stabbed by her "prophets" and kamahl got drunk with a mutant centaur
I don't like the fact the soul is taking the shape of Elesh Norn. It's looking like a pirated good. Porcelain-horror-esqe inspired cards need not have similar platings on the head like Igor's drawing.
A little unoriginal to me. Could be the artist or direction's fault. But still.
Nope. They have an infinitely better card called Wurmcoil Engine in the 6 slot. All of the deck's win conditions have (Emrakul/Ulamog/Wurmcoil) have build in defense. This thing is just a 6/6 do nothing by comparison.
Why do so many people think that this is great? The abilities seem just as overcosted as those of the other two Souls.
The art if amazing though. And while I agree with those who wonder about New Phyrexia having a soul, I won't complain, since I am a huge (New) Phyrexia fan.

It also depends on the artistic style and tradition as well, that's more of an American Comic Book style you're describing. And frankly, not everything needs to "look evil" to be evil.

Life is a beautiful engineer, yet a brutal scientist.
I was sincerely hoping Soul of Phyrexia would be the black one but....Phyrexia taking the previously unknown artifact slot of the cycle so Black gets its avatar for practically free? Sign me up.
I may not care for the cycle whatsoever, but this card is really neat.

I thought the same at first, but then I remembered Mirrodin is no longer
That art is sick, too. I want one in foil.
yet it gives indestructible to everything...
Yep. The closest thing to Mirrodin now is Melira and we don't know if she's alive anymore.
In all seriousness, this card is awesome. That person who specc'd the colourless "Soul of Mirrodin" was closer then they thought!
I hope so. Since Dragon's Maze we have had worse quality sets than usual.
Storm Crow is strictly worse than Seacoast Drake.
The only argument I have against it is the art.

Yea my thoughts exactly. It's an artifact, where's the soul. I suppose it's a figurative term.
