The only thing I don't like about designer cards is that it reminds me that we no longer get world-championship-winner designed card with their likeness in the art. I always thought that it was a cool gesture and a fun way to make top pros be remembered on a card. Please Wizards, bring it back!
I can't say that I'm surprised by the backlash that the designer credit text is getting. It's pretty typical for any hardcore fanbase to overreact to a small and temporary change. This was supposed to be a fun experiment that helps broaden Magic's appeal, and reaches out to other game designers, but alas, it will go down as a horrible blight on the sanctity of our Magic cards. The end is nigh...etc, etc etc...

I hope this kind of backlash against specific credits (e.g. Penny Arcade) continues so they remove it from future cards
This is obviously a 1 time thing. If you expect to see designer credits randomly inserted onto cards until the end of time, then yes, I can see it being slightly upsetting. Call me naive, but I really don't see that happening.

I like the idea of other game designers making Magic cards, I just don't like how the designer credit replaces the flavour text when it is one of the least flavourful things you can put on a card. If only they aligned it on the right rather than on the left, it would have felt more like a signature and less like flavour text...
I must admit that having the words "Penny Arcade" on a card instead of actual names is a little jarring...

I hope next is Mountain Dew. They'll start sponsoring RDW cards.

Very high cost, although comparable with Staff on Nin. Except Staff doesn't need a creature in play to work. I'm going to say it's not good enough to be playable.
Which is good, because I am boycotting any card with "designed by SOME RANDOM GUY" on it. Disgusting.
I don't know about "Some Random Guy", This is Penny Arcade, who regular talk about magic and tcg games, host PAX which as a pretty big card game component and is a significant event for Magic and Duel of the Planeswalkers spoilers and announcement. There's a connection.
Eh, whether or not they have any industry cred, they are still just some random guy to a significant portion of the playerbase (This thread is my official introduction to their comic e.g.). I don't really know or have any interest in any of them as card designers. 5 of them I've not only no idea who they are by name (I wouldn't recognize any of the names w/o the list of what they've done) but I have never even heard of what it is they did. So that's 9 that I know their projects but wouldn't know it from the card, and 5 of them that even looking at the list of who they are I don't know- that pretty much sums up random dude to me, and most of the people in my shop have no idea who these people are either so I know I'm not alone in this. I can understand where someone in charge thought "Oh, hey, cool, lets get these other gaming industry people involved!". I can see where they may have thought this was a good idea, I just think they overestimate how much anyone not involved in the game industry themselves cares.
Ready for my ignorance in 3...2...1...
What happens if you take control of an opponent's creature that this is attached to, and then that creature dies while you control it?
I suppose this is a question for any equipment at any time. If I control the creature that the artifact is attached to, do I also control the artifact, such that I could switch it to my creature anyway, or if that creature dies it stays on my side of the field waiting for me to attach it?
I don't see the big problem with this card. It may not be a constructed card, but card draw every turn on t5 (how hard is it to accel an artifact by one turn?) would be horrible for a non-rare. And yet it will serve to make the limited environment fun.

If you gain control of the creature this is attached to (say with a Threaten effect). You do not gain control of the artifact. It's still attached though and still gets all the benefits of it (so if you have control of it permanently like with Control Magic you'll get the card draw.) Also, when the creature dies, the other guy still has to give it away.
