Just posting to say how much I despise the designer credit being placed on the card in lieu of flavor text.
I really, really don't care who designed the card. Post on your blog about it if you want people to give you pats on the back. Keep it off the cards, that's a total immersion-breaker.
I can see this at least going in a control player's sideboard. First Strike and Deathtouch is pretty strong, and making it hexproof any other time? Dang.
Keep in mind that this doesn't let you switch between "modes" at will. It loses hexproof until end of turn.
Is this card gonna be as aggravating and omnipresent in Limited as Vampire Nighthawk? Seems quite possible.

I'm well aware of how it works, but the times you don't need it to be a good blocker, it is hexproof.
You played JESUS?!?! I heard none of his guys stay in the graveyard, and once you think you have him beat he ALWAYS comes back to win within three turns. I like...WORSHIP him.
I think it's because Shroud gives more of a feel of "being stealthed" than hexproof, which is more like a protection.
You're just misunderstanding hexproof, then. They're the same exact thing from the opponent's point of view, but hexproof means the creature is still perfectly revealed to the caster. Shroud is more for creatures that just can't be affected by magic for whatever reason - hexproof is for creatures that your opponents can't target. A stealthy guy is definitely better with hexproof, flavor-wise.
Who said invisible to everyone, all the time, without exception? And really? You know many assassins/rogues? There are countless examples of fictional rogues/assassins who work with teams and can still be contacted by their employer. Why would you want an assassin that you can't contact if something changes? Seems terrible.

Not to mention that if this is supposed to be a WoW rogue, then hexproof makes more sense anyway, you can see your stealthed teammates in that game.
Hexproof is odd on a mono-black card but it does have a TON of flavor with an assassin so I can dig it. The assassin exposes his/herself to attack the unsuspecting victim, leaving the safety of the shadows.
There's a pretty big difference between breaking the color pie to give a color a keyword ability that no one really cares about on a creature and giving a color the ability to deal with something it isn't supposed to be able to deal with. A red enchantment removal card isn't even remotely similar to this card. This doesn't let black do anything it couldn't do before.
3 manas for a 2/1 hexproof may be good but when you add a conditional kill strike its just value town ..
I think this can be good for even for(Edit and in draft this card rocks...) standard if we end up with snother RG stomp when RTR rotates.
Its nice that it can trade with soo muchgood cards in standard ( and sometimes even don't trade at all just doing 0-1)

Actually this is the only pure black creature to ever have hexproof without help, the only other pure black creature to ever get any form of Hexproof was Horror of the Dim. Hexproof is basically split between white/blue and green, so this card was likely costed slightly higher because black is not a normal "hexproof color".
ot, i like everything about this card except the design credit. i understand their reasoning, but it just looks tacky. not sold on the beleren font, either.

Given the WoW card they made of Jenkins, the closest Magic equivalent seems to be either Ball Lightning or Thundermare.
Either way, Leroy is clearly Red.
IMO, troll-shroud, I mean hexproof, should stay in green where it belongs.
This one's nice, though.
Black is easily my favorite color, but I get nightmares about the color getting nerfed for years because of Theros.

Only rares/mythics get the foil stamp. It won't stop counterfeiting either. They've been able to replicate that sort of thing for ages.
