I have heard from many stores that the amount of prerelease kits for M15 have been drastically cut. After hearing this complaint I decided to check in and found out that my numbers have been cut in half. I called my WOTC rep and couldn't really get a good explanation for it. All I know is the numbers they are giving me won't even take me through 2 events.
maybe something went way wrong like a fire in their stock or other bad thing and soo they can t re print all that stuff in time for the pre release ( and maybe they can suport a second prerelease of M15 after M15 release(this would be sweet))
It's also a core set with faction packs, they probably (correctly) assumed that such a thing would crash and burn and didn't wan to leave grumpy store owners with box upon box of seeded packs.
Stores around me that sell out many sessions of pre-releases for expert expansions have trouble getting an 8-man pod together for core set events. I'm guessing WotC has gotten similar feedback from many LGSs about the popularity of core set pre-releases and is adjusting accordingly?
There was no real risk to stores for past sealed core set events, because they just used 6 loose booster packs that could be sold normally. Now that they're doing seeded kits for events with low demand, I don't expect that many store owners are going to be excited at the prospect of having the unsold kits sit on their shelves for months.
As long as there are chase rares people will buy the kits at my local shop. At least that's been the case for the last three pre-releases (THS, BNG, JOU).
every core set at my lgs has 20-40 people depending on the time of day. Sunday night being the least attended. This not a huge store either. The store is having a massive influx of players all these stories from different areas are really shocking...
Basically the moral of the story is that, despite either real or perceived short-distribution, M15 is an unlimited print run set and singles prices will crater on the secondary market after release. It is happening right now with Conspiracy, so I would think our community'd be smarter than to make the same mistake twice on M15 -- of course, we never learn.

No one is saying that the core set will have a limited print run. This is about limited supply of pre-release kits (5 boosters + 1 seeded booster) for sealed play at M15 pre-release events.
The only people concerned about the print run in the Conspiracy thread were the ones spooked by shop owners posting that initial distributions were going to be as tight as Modern Masters. Most of the comments centered on the short supply of CNS forcing owners to choose between running drafts for events, and selling boxes. Given how poorly the set is doing on the secondary market, it is clear there was never a supply problem with CNS release events, just like there wasn't with MMA (which you can still find on plenty of LGS shelves a year later), and just like there won't be with M15.

No one is trying to spook anybody in this thread. I simply said that prerelease numbers have been cut. Same thing goes for CNS, all I said in that thread is that my preorder allocation is low and that is was half of what my modern masters allocation was. I'm not sure if you are misunderstanding what I am saying or if I am not being clear. If it is my fault then I apologize but I was simply just stating some information I had just obtained.
Fly. You are confusing prerelease product with normal product. This thread is only about whether there will be enough product so everyone can play in the prerelease. There are no scare tactics here.
My prerelease numbers are the same as they have been for the last three expansions. There was some growth product available on top of that. I think the numbers are based on previously reported games, your WPN level, player base as recorded in the WER and who-knows-what-else. It seems like a convoluted equation. Things seem to be status quo in my corner of the world...
Conspiracy Theory: Liliana of the Veil & Fetchlands are in the set and they purposedly cut the pre-release packs in half to diminish the chances of flooding the market and give stores an extra week to get rid of their stock.
M14 had plenty of value and remained one of the better bets for a long time during it's run in standard. I would still rather get M14 packs that JIN, BotG, or DGM. The problem was perception of the set. Draft was terrible for most players unless you like that Elixir of Immortality was playable, they screwed up Slivers(New art, didn't effect all slivers, were a thing in standard, and not really in draft either) and there were no dual lands in the set. People may have been tired of the buddy lands but the perception has that there was nothing in the set.
In reality it had great Modern reprints (mutavault, scavenging ooze) solid value uncommons (Young Pyromancer, Wall of Frost) new played Planeswalkers (Chandra, Garruk) exciting mythics (Archangel of Thrune, Kalonian Hydra) and a pile of archetype rares that enabled a variety of decks (Lifebane Zombie, Xathrid Necromancer, Witchstalker etc.)
I can only hope this set is as good, but I wouldn't be surprised if the prerelease is a let down. Last 2 sets were stinkers, summer is a weaker time for lots of magic stores, and people think less of core.

Indeed, Dragon's Maze and Theros pale in comparison with M14 when it comes to constructed playability. Mutavault was one of the cards that defined standard and Young Pyromancer has spawned new deck variants in legacy and modern.
I guess I'm also among the few who actually enjoyed drafting M14. I'm looking forward to M15 for sure!
To answer the first post: I'm crossing my fingers that my shop will get NO prerelease kits, so we can have a proper sealed tournament instead . Death to seeded boosters!
WotC hasn't cut the number of Prerelease Packs a WPN location is getting. They are "just" cutting the number you get with free price support. You can still order more if you want but you will then have to pay for the price support (not optional).
Basically, WPN location will get the same number of product but will have to pay more for it.

This. My primary LGS didn't even hold a core set pre release for m14 due to lack of interest, and they usually have 50-60 for expert set releases and have had to turn people away before. The other LGS I frequent got some of the players that would have gone to the other shop and still had a crappy run of it.

I think he meant "no seeded packs".
Weren't prereleases originally held with 6 packs or a 75-card tournament pack plus some number of boosters?
Basically, WPN location will get the same number of product but will have to pay more for it.
