Mono B isn't the best deck if you look at the results. It's one of the top archetypes, but it doesn't win that much lately. Dunno why people are saying that. It's one of the best decks. LotV will not change much except for some of the match ups like control, but it won't be that great versus others. It may have a chance of making black based decks the dominant deck, but it's more likely that M15 can cover other colors enough that may not be the case.
Come on guys. Stop talking about how busted mono-black would be with Liliana of the Veil.
The set has over 200 cards in it. There is nothing stopping them from printing hosers against them. They did that before already.
See Great Sable Stag or Lifebane Zombie which was clearly meant to fight Thragtusk which was funnily enough a hoser for many strategies itself.
I doubt they're going to print Liliana of the Veil just because it doesn't fit her Necromancy theme, but it wouldn't be the end of Standard if they did. We'd have her for three months during the Modern season of competitive Magic which means she'd effect FNM at the most for three months, then MBC loses much of it's Devotion enablers.
If Garruk is the face of M15 I wouldn't expect Liliana of the Veil to show up and steal the spotlight (unless they purposely busted Garruk which isn't very likely at all) but Liliana's path and his are linked
As someone suggested they might reprint Liliana Vess, would be weak but it could work, or make a new one altogether
Unless Garruk is BG, maybe we don't get a mono black PWs in M15?
Erg, am I the only one who thinks wizards shouldn't print reminder text on promos like this? Especially for evergreen keywords. I mean come on. It's one thing for block-specific keywords but it's a real bummer to have that extra text on a "special" card. If you're playing in a PTQ you probably know what hexproof is without looking it up.
On the other hand, it's foil and I hate foil so it's sort of moot for me. I just like complaining.
I don't see why they couldn't reprint Liliana of the Veil. Frankly she needs a reprint, and I don't think she'd break any major formats. I really don't want her to turn into the next Jace 2.0 and have her become ridiculously expensive. She needs a reprint. Sure Mono Black would get better, but it's not like it's the best deck right now. Plus, who knows what other cards we will get in M15 to deal with planeswalkers.
Idk, maybe it's just me, but I really think it would benefit to reprint Liliana of the Veil in M15.
Realistically, I would expect Wizards to not reprint her just because they want some lame excuse to save her for some short Prut run set where you spend all of your money trying to acquire her. I think MaRo had said Liliana Of the Veil was once said to be "too strong for standard." Wtf does that mean? Last time I checked standard wasn't a format where they power checked things in that way. If so, I don't think we'd ever get powerful cards in standard. Anyhow you know the drill. They'll have some excuse why they won't give her to us, when realistically it wouldn't be a fiasco.
LotV is not too powerful for Standard. She was only marginally played in Standard when she was there to begin with. I don't even think that Mono Black decks would even play her right now. Her best fit would be the Junk Reanimator or Dredge decks, if anything.
Besides, MaRo doesn't do the core sets.

Old enough to know better, much too young to care.
It may be possible to not have Liliana in this set. They could just print a card representing the Veil and print Garruk as black and Nissa as green (or Sorin as black). It would be a nice PW rotation.

ghallberg said: What does Lilliana becoming more focused on necromancy actually mean in terms of mechanics, will she no longer be discarding cards, killing creatures etc?
Both discarding and killing are useful if you raise the dead. : )
LotV still fits in with the new focus they have on her, and MaRo has admitted that Dark Realms was a mistake. Personally I think it's a great time for the card to be reprinted. It fits with the story of M15 and Garruk, and what better way to promote the "Magic Community" created card than something that fits perfectly with it? Turn 2 Waste Not Turn 3 Lilly.
Red should be burn, Goblins, Dragons, draw/discard, and Standard-unplayable 5CMC cards with insane, lengthy effects that take 10 minutes to figure out what they do and another 20 to actually make their effects work on the field.
I'm really betting on Liliana Vess. The box art for her figure really seals it for me. It's a shame, because Liliana of the Veil could seriously use a reprint.
