The new Planeswalker figures in the Funko Legacy line have been previewed on Kotaku. On top of showing off the full figures and packaging, the pictures on the boxes reveal what I think is new artwork for all but 2 of the characters. Liliana's mugshot is taken from Liliana Vess, and Chandra's is taken from Chandra, Pyromaster, but the rest of them look like they're from new artwork. Thoughts?
I'm definitely at least thinking that Nissa is going to be the green planeswalker in Magic 2015 and that Garruk, being the "star" this year, will be a new black/green version.
ill be a very unhappy chap sadly if liliana is not a new version also is this the first time theyve gone back to there original incarnation say if she does end up being liliana vess
P.s dont get me wrong i love the old liliana just wanted something new

The 6" height by Funko is mainly a guideline for the average height of their figures. They can go up/down according to the character as long as it can fit in the box. Garruk is indeed the biggest one because in the lore he is the tallest reaching about 2.5m
The female figures are clearly designed with male arousal in mind, with the focus being on the scantily clad bodies rather than the characters themselves. Compare the amount of clothes worn by the female Walkers to the males.
Didn't mean to derail the thread into a flame war, which is where I sense this is going - anybody who wants to can PM me
lol Nissa is the only i like maybe Ajani and Garruk too :\
for the guy saying that she have too much tatoos , well that is part of her character :\
Jace, Liliana , Chandra have faces that looks strange :\
It would be very nice to have four new planeswalkers in a core set.
Ajani: Pleasantly surprised he is getting a new card. White is my favourite colour, and I wasn't too found of the two other core set Ajani.
Jace: Finally! We've been spending three years with Memory Adept, it's nice to see someone new!
Liliana: A little disappointing since Liliana Vess is not exactly amazing. I suppose Wizards picked her since she is the one that better represents the fact she is a necromancer.
Chandra: This is the only decent Chandra in the entire game, so good choice there.
Nissa: Definitely expected a new Nissa considering her outfit is different. It will be interesting to see what they do with her. Last time she was strongly tied with elves, and that's what made her narrow.
Garruk: Another interesting one. I suppose he will be B/G, but I get the feeling Wizards will want him to look particularly impressive.
1. The female figures, much like the male figures, are clearly designed to resemble the characters from the cards, comics, and novels. (which in turn are admittedly, designed with some male arousal in mind. It's called approaching the target audience, or "marketing")
2. Comparing the male to the female clothing can only lead to false results. Jace, for example, is not a part of Nissa's elven tribe. So why should his figure be dressed like one to be "fair"? Why should Nissa be dressed differently if her clothing represents who she is? The same goes for Liliana. Her character often uses (the power of) arousal(exploiting a weakness) as a means to the desired end.
3. Fine. Lets compare the male to the female characters... Conclusion: Ajani shows more skin(or fur) than any of the female ones. How about that?
The action figures themselves have nothing sexist about them. I see no forced large breasts, no over-exposed cleavage, no "arousing" poses. Only the curves required to display the female structure. But, i guess.. if you look at something and observe how it is displayed, rather than what it actually depicts. You will find plenty to be offended by.
Next time Nissa returns in the game she'd be in a bikini and a g-string. BELIEVE IT. These are the times I yearn for Tamiyo and the class she brings in the roster of female neowalkers.
Mourning Garruk's covered up form. Such blasphemy covering them muscles UGH.

Action figures look pretty stupid, but you gotta call a spade a spade: 2/3 of these women are not wearing pants and 2/3 out of the men are very very covered up. The sexualization is skewed to appeal to a male audience, its completely obvious.
This is how magic rolls, though, and we're lucky the guys/girls ratio is even this time.

Ugh. Grow up. People dress far worse than that in real life. Write a petition to Wizards if you feel so strongly and maybe they'll put all the female characters in parkas.
These figs look pretty sweet though.

Dear kbx41,

Flaming or Other Forms of Misbehavior
Saying that you sometimes wish people (in this case the implication is the staff) would fall down a well and get AIDS is hardly appropriate for the forum.
What I find most interesting about part of this discussion is, as someone else pointed out, these figures are modeled exactly after the design of the planeswalker characters themselves. No creative liberties were taken, even if some of the facial expressions are a bit odd. So why is it devolving into another discussion into sexism and sexy-ism? Funko is, naturally, innocent of any wrong-doing in that department. They were simply making detailed toys based off someone else's work. Any blame should and would go to Wizards, who are also actually fine if you think about it.
Look at it this way: the characters are dressed for their preferred style of combat.
Garruk - Big, muscular, heavily armored. Just as likely (or even more so) to fight his own fights than summon a monster to do it. A pragmatic barbarian character.
Jace - Spellcaster. Relies largely on staying the hell out of combat himself. Dressed quite a bit like the typical (male) mage character.
Ajani - Something of a battle mage. Interesting in that he's a non-human, so why should he be compared by human standards? His haunches and forearms are protected, and his shoulder gear seems big enough to block most conventional weapons. Probably more agile than a human, so doesn't need to block as much when he can dodge.
Chandra - The most heavily-armored female featured. Makes sense, as she has a much more direct combat style compared to the other women. Someone can complain that her inner thighs are bare, but we can chalk that up to the character's stylistic choice (like the one kneepad). The leather and chain mail curved to her breast shape is an oddity, but forgivable.
Liliana - Here we have the seductress necromancer. Would a seductress show a lot of skin? Probably. Does a necromancer engage in a lot of direct combat, thereby requiring even a decent amount of armor? Probably not. The zombies, demons and kill spells are her armor. Also plays into her character; we know she sold her soul to various demons for eternal youth and beauty, so why wouldn't she flaunt it? There's also the intimidation factor, where she knows she doesn't need to get anywhere near you to kill you.
Nissa - An elf from another world. Again, a non-human who would probably refuse to be held by human standards. Let's get a Zendikarian elf to come onto the forums and decide whether or not she's underdressed. She's not a direct fighter herself, so I also don't see why she would need heavy armor. She's dressed lightly for maneuverability and flexibility, like I imagine an elf mage probably would. For a fairer comparison, would we expect a male elf mage to dress like Jace?

What exactly is sexist about the figures?
Are they all standard sizes, or is Garruk clearly bigger. Seems more worth it than the others. lol

My thought - the lines are too pronounced and make the whole look unappealing. It adds only to the least fitting facial representation.
Well, the product is not aimed at me with 6" anyway, so... *shrug*
