I just want the spoiler up so I can figure out the rarity breakdown of this set, so I can also figure out approximately how many of each Rare/Mythic we'll be able to preorder by cracking product - it's unclear what the C/U/R/M count will be based on 210 cards!
Ben - outside of the draft-matters slot, which has 25 cards in it and replaces the basic-land slot, the rarity distribution is:
80 commons
60 uncommons
35 rares
10 mythic rares
The problem here is the wizards promised something and didn't deliver. If they didn't say they would spoil the set then I wouldn't be upset at all. Also they seem to have completely taken down anything conspiracy related from the articles page. The link to the card image gallery is gone from there too. I guess they thought if it's not there people will just forget about it. I can't say I'm surprised by their behavior though. They like teasing and trolling. Remember how Jace and now Dack were spoiled piece by piece? They also love putting out riddles and puzzles for us to solve in order to get spoilers, I don't like playing their games. The New Phyrexia spoiler was the best one. I wish somebody would post the godbook at the beginning of every spoiler season, or even before just to stick it to them.

You're not going to find much support for your opinion. Most people like the games and the slow burn of spoilers. Itsffun coming and talking about the cards little by little.
WoTC screwed up big time here.
Not keeping promises to your customers is bad business, but sometimes things happen. We (well, most of us) understand that.
But pretending nothing is wrong and giving us no real explanation for why they haven't come through yet (or any idea of when they will)? That's unbelievably bad PR work, and really isn't understandable. It needs to be rectified ASAP.

Is no one really differentiating between a promise by a corporation and an off-hand statement on a twitter feed?
I agree that people are misclassifying what was said as a promise, but it was not an off hand statement either. She responded to a question of when spoilers would be posted and said full spoiler on Friday. That is a direct statement on the issue at hand. They have since apologized for not having the full spoiler with new arts and rarities for VM but still no statements about CNS other than Maro saying he doesn't know.
The outrage in this thread is a good example of why companies don't usually and should not communicate on this type of basis with their customers.
One person (apparently named Allison from MTGO twitter) accidentally gave wrong information about Conspiracy spoilers. Now people feel entitled to something that shouldn't have existed in the first place!
A good example is a gaming company that comments on their game's forum about a bug fix. If they say "thanks for pointing out the bug, it'll be fixed in the next update" and then something comes up like a) an unforeseen circumstance making it unfixable at the moment, or b) it was never even meant to be fixed in the first place, well that one bit of communication just caused a lot more anger and outrage then if they would have just said NOTHING at all!
I'm unhappy that we don't have the full spoiler as well, but I think everyone here needs to accept the fact that one person with good intentions made a mistake and the cards will most likely be up on Friday. Cheers.
I do find irony that most of the people upset at this promise from WOTC also want the Reserved list abolished... interesting.
That said I think that people screw up, misspeak, mistype, etc. The only way I am MAJORLY bothered by this is if it continues to happen. Conspiracy is not a set that a Pro Tour is going to be based around and spoilers are only really wanted for curiosity not so much a competitive edge.
Conspiracy is not a set that a Pro Tour is going to be based around and spoilers are only really wanted for curiosity not so much a competitive edge.
While that's mostly correct, there is a major Vintage event (NYSEII) in New York on June 24th and the beginning of testing/design period has been in stasis all month pending the release of the full Conspiracy spoiler. I'm not livid or anything but definitely confused by the fact that Wizards hasn't acknowledged and explained the situation. Admitting honest mistakes is fine but "pretending nothing happened" is one of the most obnoxious deceptions.
I feel like on Friday, someone is going to post a link to this thread and say something like "Look at the sixth letter of every post" and it's going to be a long url for the spoiler.
I agree wholeheartedly. Not to say Vintage doesnt matter because I find it a very undervalued and suffers from too much stigma from people who really dont know, BUT the majority of Magic players dont play it and even less that do will be at this particular event. I can though imagine how frustrating it is though for those going.
And yes admitting it is a huge step in taking responsibility.

For the 25 draft-matters cards at least, I'm guessing this is the breakdown:
9 commons
9 uncommons
6 rares
1 mythic rare
With this breakdown, if they print 9 of each common, 3 of each uncommon, 2 of each rare and 1 of the mythic on a sheet, it comes to 121 (11x11), the normal sheet size.
And yes admitting it is a huge step in taking responsibility.
Maybe for an individual person. A massive company admitting a rep on MTGO twitter made a mistake has nothing to do with responsibility.
They're certainly not going to make a comment on this forum, or in this thread at least.
Admitting a mistake is always the first step in taking responsibility. Of course they're not going to post here. They may not even read these forums. I wouldn't if I was them. But they know a mistake was made, that is undeniable. You can ignore you made a mistake and look stupid, or take responsibility and admit a mistake was made. There doesn't need to be any consequences, but right now they just look stupid in their handling of Conspiracy, especially with them admitting, apologizing, and stating they don't have a date for the full image gallery for VM.
Let's get the facts straight.
Wizards made a mistake. Proof: https://twitter.com/MagicOnline/status/469224891766415361
This was last week. As we all know, MagicOnline is an official WOTC twitter. We got VM spoilers, and a few CNS spoilers, but not FULL CNS spoilers. Ilovesaprolings is right; bad miscommunication on Wizards side.
What made me post this was this quote from this post on DailyMTG.:
Ah, Conspiracy. It's a secret to everybody. Well, not anymore—I'm incredibly excited for you all to see the set. After months of teasing, hidden messages, and sly references, you will soon be able to see the the entire set at the Card Image Gallery.
Now, this was posted BEFORE midnight EST, which is usually when Wizards spoils craploads of stuff. I thought it meant that later, at midnight, that Wizards would spoil the set.
I was wrong.
Thanks to the mod that edited the title. People were getting confused.

The reserved list that was revised in 2002 was fine. I was okay with only having foil reprints of cards on the list. But then people who misunderstood the reserved list complained about the foil Mox Diamond in FTV Relics, so Wizards decided to close the premium loophole in 2010. That's what's wrong. There's this weird limbo of them having to maintain the promise but also modify it whenever a pro-reserved list person complains about it. But even though a lot of people have complained in favor of removing the reserved list, or changing it back to its 2002 form, Wizards can't budge on it. R&D supports getting rid of it, but they can't or won't tell us why they can't. Every time Maro has been asked about it, he just says they can't change it or remove it, and they tried.
You wanna hear a conspiracy? I bet Wizards' hands are tied because the people who are pro-reserved list are also shareholders. And there's nothing we can do unless we all start buying Hasbro stocks.
Dio in other words, Richard Garfield, and some of Hasbro. Garfield is the largest shareholder in WoTC. To my knowledge he supports it. others are fine without it as it allows expansion. In addition to expansion some of the cards on the reserved list don't really impact the game as much currently, it would be debatable whether some would now even. Say modified versions of Floodgate. Even other ones that have currently become underpowered should be fine, like Al-abara's Carpet

If it's indeed 9-9-6-1 (looking forward to seeing that mythic!), wouldn't it be more likely that they'd have 8-4-2-1 on the sheet? Uncommons just being 1.5 times rarer than rares seems bizarre.
And yes admitting it is a huge step in taking responsibility.

Gonna step in real quick before you guys get excited. No fun guessing games or cloak-and-dagger this time around -- we're just rescheduling a bit.
So hey, at least there's news. Not sure what that means in terms of actual spoilers but at least it's not radio silence.

That is a start at least. And wet know there's rescheduling.

That breakdown does work as well. For standard cards, between Theros and Shards of Alara, uncommons were half as frequent as commons. With the increase in the number of uncommons per set (starting with Born of the Gods) commons are about 2.5x as frequent as uncommons in large sets, and just over 3x as frequent in small sets. I worked my way up from common, but working down from mythic, i think your numbers make a little more sense.
If they're rescheduling, they'd better do it quick. Conspiracy comes out in less than 10 days and it probably won't be that long before some LGS gets impatient and decides to crack a pack early.
What gets me is that we're probably not even getting great cards out of this. Any cards that are playable in eternal formats and/or cube probably would have been printed in Vintage Masters, and we only have a few new cards left to go. The real things we should be expecting are significant casual reprints and the general feel of the Conspiracy draft format.
The analysis presented for the breakdown is flawed as Conspiracy is being printed on sheets of 80 due to its set size. The likely numerical breakdown is 11/8/6 for commons, uncommons, and rares with the print sheet consisting on four copies of each common, 3 copies of each uncommon, and 2 copies of each rare.
Ben - outside of the draft-matters slot, which has 25 cards in it and replaces the basic-land slot, the rarity distribution is:
