Most important they totally over-reprinted Living Death.
They put it in pretty much every black promo deck, which is really sick ...
Such a cool card, but having it everywhere really hurts.
// are they actual foil ? They really look like non-foil ...
Idk about you, but the Living Death is what I am most excited about, that new art work is simply amazing. Wasn't a huge fan of the old art work and this one fits into my Golgari EDH perfectly.
Though I can understand the frustration with this set if people were looking things like Damnation, Eldrazi, or something like P3K Armageddon, Ravages of War? I am still going to try to get my hands on this, I really enjoy a lot of these cards. Been trying to collect all the FTV since legends :o.
Because this is the only site from searching that gives the "full list".
That's because when it was first spoiled it was dismissed as fake on questionable grounds, and every other site repeated the "fake" proclamation often without knowing (let alone repeating) the actual reasons for thinking it fake. Their really wasn't any reason to doubt this back then, and there's certainly not any reason to doubt it now that we have the Smokestack art and actual confirmed cards from Comic-Con.
How much do you guys think a play set of Armageddons will cost? I know these are foil cards, but are they actually worth some money? I've been wanting to pick up a play set of
Armageddon is all but unplayed in Legacy and frowned on in EDH, the only foil is a judge promo at $70. FtV should be maybe half of this at $30. Terminus is already available in foil for $25 and played in a few formats. This should be closer to a third at $8. Cataclysm shows up in EDH and as never been released in foil, probably settle at half again the original nonfoil at $12. Upheaval gets you hated in EDH and isn't playable anywhere else. The original foil is only $17 so this should be maybe a third or less than that at $5.
That's as individual cards. Considering the likely value of the box and the more playable cards (Rolling Earhquake, Smokestack, Virtue's Ruin) I could see knocking off as much as another 20%
The list is extremely underwhelming to be sure. No Damnation, no Ravages of War (which would have rocked for cube owners like me), no Oblivion Stone, no All is Dust.
Not shocked the list is accurate, just as expected, but a bit disappointed. I hope to pick up the entire set for a reasonable price, but if not, I only want:
Did anyone else notice in the "A look inside" article at http://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/look-inside-vault-annihilation-2014-08-11 he says about Decree of Annihilation "...until the flurry of coincidences continued and another card had to be dropped from this set at the last minute. I had a hole to fill, and thought back to everyone's reactions about the name Annihilation. After talking with a few people to confirm that sounded good, I gave Decree of Annihilation the go ahead."
Any thoughts on what the other card that was dropped was?

FTV prices tend to be based more off of the prices of the nonfoils than the foils if a pack foil is available, since they use a different foiling process and are usually considered "inferior." Terminus and Upheaval will both be pretty cheap. Armageddon and Cataclysm are likely to be a bit more since they are much harder (or impossible) to obtain in foil. Also, Upheaval is banned in EDH so the only format where it really sees any play is Cube.
Also seems like a clear nod towards Ravages of War (I would guess as a Judge Promo)
I really hope it gets reprinted, but not as a judge promo, since that wouldn't even help the price that much. Look at something like Imperial Recruiter. The judge promo is $100 less than the original printing, but it still goes for $150+. Judge promos are good for their "pimp" factor (see judge promo Force of Will), but I feel like making cards that are almost impossible to find into judge promos doesn't really help much.

There's a distinct possibility it was Damnation, which was a major expected reprint in this set. Knowing that Upheaval was eschewed from last year's From the Vault: Twenty specifically to be included in this year's Annihilation, we can surmise that the reason Damnation was left out of Annihilation is that it's going to see print elsewhere soon. There's a couple places that come to mind:
Khans of Tarkir has the black-centric Sultai Brood, identified with ruthlessness and known to have made deals with Rakshasa demon cats. If any faction in Khans were to get a black wrath effect, it would probably be Sultai.
But another even more compelling option exists. This year, we're getting five monocolored commander decks, one of which is obviously black. Now, we saw Wrath of God printed in Commander 2013, so that means...?
MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.

Upheaval is banned in EDH. So, it is a waste of a printing, like a lot of this FTV.

Okay, so I have an unreleased illo that fits this product perfectly and at the same time can't fit anywhere else due to setting specific content.
It's not in the photo.
Now obviously WotC might have cut and replaced something late in order to make the set more attractive or whatever. Take it as you will.
I suspect the card that Igor Kieryluk (Smokestack) did art for was cut. (I checked the Mothership's article on FTV: Annihilation, and none of the cards have art by Igor Kieryluk.)

He was referring to the art he did for Rout, which he assumed at the time (quite reasonably, I think) was done for Annihilation.
Weird about the problems with Creative and Wrath of God. That says a lot about where the whole design team is at: Hand cuffed by strange rules and stupid politics.

Not weird at all, and something we already knew. It's also 50% of the reason why Grizzly Bears no longer sees print (the other half is that it's pluralized).

I get the feeling that the Grizzly Bears thing has waned a bit, you get plenty of oxen and elk and birds these days that aren't explicitly magical, or even divergent from their real world counterparts in a meaningful way (to the best of my knowledge, I'm no expert on elk anatomy but they're not like four legged birds or anything). The objection here is that it references real world religion (allegedly anyway, I love the solution they came up with) not that "OMG, a planeswalker would never summon a creature that exists in the real world! They'd summon something functionally identical with an extra limb or two for no good reason".
But another even more compelling option exists. This year, we're getting five monocolored commander decks, one of which is obviously black. Now, we saw Wrath of God printed in Commander 2013, so that means...?
