Conspiracy has basics. So we could see full art there, but it would be a shame since they would have the old frames. Unless they show almost no frame at all.
A third unset is not inevitable.
If WoTC keeps making sets like Conspiracy, why should they make a set with zero tournament legal cards?
They want to maximize sales, and any Un-set is going to sell considerably less than any set with black bordered cards.
MaRo refers to it as an inevitability ("when, not if"). Maybe he's just being overly optimistic about his pet project, but I trust his judgement more than my own in situations like this.

It's almost like they leaked these to assuage concerns about the new border.
Meh. Not sure what it could accomplish. When the 8th edition frames came out I wasn't a fan. I still prefer the old borders (especially on artifacts), though I do like that the arts are larger than they used to be. I didn't make a fuss about it though because they didn't bother me. The m15 frame actually bothers me to look at. I suspect that when the cards are in my hand it won't bother me as much since my hand and the other cards in my hand will cover up the slightly uneven border lengths, and I am taking a wait and see approach. Seeing them laid out still makes me twitch though, and I know that I'm not alone in perceiving the uneven borders as a flaw.

Not concerned with the full art aspect as much as I am with exciting art. There's maybe one basic land per color that makes me happy. The rest are all kind of... Ugly. What's going on I. Some of those swamps? They look mre like creature or sorcery spells than lands. Some of them are just ugly.
A third unset is not inevitable.

I think that full art lands are sooner than later though. If not this fall set, the next IMO.
Considering Conspiracy will have some non-legal cards in it, they could just easily make all the legal Un cards black bordered and the illegal ones silver. The majority of Un cards work just fine in normal Magic even if they're silly.

Not really. There are several cards that depend on stuff outside of the game, involve halves, or simply do not work inside of the game (like BFM).

What is wrong with the old frames?
Nothing is "wrong" with them. I just would rather see full arts with the new frame instead of just before it because they won't do them again for a while after.
That's funny. That's my all time favorite art for mountain.
I assumed a lot of people liked that art since they reuse it so much. I'm glad you guys are enjoying it, I guess. I just feel like it doesn't look like part of a landscape. It looks like a zoomed in picture of a jagged rock with a red tint added.
I just want basic lands with the old line of text instead of the big mana symbol. I hate that big mana symbol, and it´s misleading for newer players. That's why kids now Ritual for 3 Swamps, that didn't happen back then.
Would've been the perfect time to shift to full-art basics as the norm. Seems like a wasted opportunity.
Nothing takes the uniqueness out of something like doing it every single time.
If you got any dinner you could dream up on any night you wanted it with no cost to you it sure as heck wouldn't mean ***** after a while.
This argument really doesn't hold water. The fact that we take things for granted doesn't mean we're better off not having them all the time. I take for granted owning a car, doesn't mean I should walk 6 days out of the week to make driving feel "more special."

Let me put it in magic terms, foils are pretty nifty right and people pay for them to "pimp" out their deck. Imagine if every card printed from here on out was foil, would foils still hold any special value or distinction?
I really don't think so.
This is not about depriving yourself of something, WotC feels full art lands are unique and only wants to bring them out occasionaly. This process makes them more interesting and special, I have had newer players give me positive comments on my Zendikar or unhinged full-art lands. If every land was full-art it would just be "another basic land".

Have you ever actually been in this position? Do you know anyone who has, or have you read any studies about it? I'm pretty confident I'd still be enjoying that dinner immensely 80 years from now.

I primarily play limited, so most of my spoiler season comments view cards through that lens.

I looks much cleaner and therefore better imo, and really, how much of a problem is it that newer players says swamp instead of black mana vs. the lowered complexity of your lands (zero text vs. a little text is less complexity, and this game has a lot of complexity scaring newer players away)?
I feel like the uneven border (I'm guessing you're talking about how it's curved at the bottom and comes to a corner at the top?) is partially to give more consistency to how planeswalker cards are bordered. Although, that's just my guess.
I'm still on the fence about the new bordering though, I really wish that they didn't include the little holographic thing on rares. I guess it was one of those necessary things though due to so many counterfeits showing up. Although I do wonder how it would look if they replaced the rarity symbol with a similar colored holographic foiling instead of adding a little circle at the bottom.
The uneven border is purely a result of the fact they want two lines for machine-readable info at the bottom instead of one, and presumably it needs a consistent black background for that. The style is no doubt inspired by the Planeswalker design, though.

Storm Crow is strictly worse than Seacoast Drake.

I agree. Why did they make them like that?
